Introduction

Sai and Virat are in a happy married life. Sai has become a doctor and CNwasis are still skeptical of her a bit but some have warmed up to her nevertheless.

The story takes place when Sai is on her way to a Pride parade in support of her friend and how she manages to explain her point of view and still shut down the archaic notions and biases CNwasis have towards the LGBTQI community.

Its a Sunday morning and everyone is assembled at the dining table for a brunch.

Sai saunters in looking for Ashwini.

"Aai... main na aaj bahar ja rahi hun... mera Lunch pe wait mat karna, okay?"

"Thike Beta... vapas kab aaogi? Virat tum jaane wale ho kya pickup karne?", she asks turning her attention to Virat.

"Haan Aai... iska phone aayega to chala jaunga. Sai mujhe 20 mins pehle call kar lena okay?"

Sai nods and is about to wave goodbyes to everyone when Karishma asks,

"Are par Sai Bhabhi... aap ye itni satrangi saree pehen kar ja kahan rahi hai?"

Sai smiles admiring her saree ... "Vo main na Pride parade main ja rahi hun"

Mohit almost chokes on his food and Karishma offers him water when Omi Kaka asks,

"Ye kya parade hai? Koi festival hai kya?"

Sai smiles, "Aisa hi samajh lijiye" and looks at Virat who rounds up his eyes at her to not speak further.

Bhavani... "Ae ladki... sahi sahi bata kaha ja rahi hai"

Virat is terrified at the direction the conversation is going. He attempts to ask Sai to go as she is getting late but Sai is enjoying his vexation.

"Kaku Pride parade na LGBTQI community ke liye organize karte hai... vo vaha aapne jaise aur logo se milte hai aur apne rights ke liye protest vagare karte hai"

"Aur ye kounsi community hai?"

"LGTBQI Kaku... Lesbian, Gay, Transgender, Bisexual, Queer aur Intersex"

Hearing these words and taking in the horror on the faces of the older Chavans, Kaku gets flustered.

"Aur tum vaha kyun ja rahi ho Sai?" asks Sonali, getting increasingly worried.

"Main vaha apne dost ke support main ja rahi hun Kaku... he just came out of the closet."

Exasperated, Virat just keeps himself occupied at his food while everyone is in shock and unable to express their feelings.

Finally, Ashwini speaks, "Lekin Sai... bala tumhe vaha jaane ki kya jarurat hai? Aur Virat tum use jaane de rahe ho?"

Virat, pretending to be busy eating, looks up from his plate and is about to answer when Sai speaks again, "Usme kya galat hai Aai.... vo mera dost hai... uska saath dene ja rahi hun... ye koi chuachoot ki bimari thode hi hai ki vaha jaane se mujhe bhi ho jayegi"

Samrat lets out an involuntary chuckle and so does Mohit.

Noting the silence, Sai is about to move out when Karishma interjects again,

"Sai Bhabhi... ek baat to batao... aapko dar nahi lagta... agar aapke dost ko Virat Bhaiya pasand aa gaye to???"

Sai literally bursts into bouts of laughter into this, while Virat is shocked... his gaping mouth at the stupidity of the question.

Controlling herself, Sai responds,

"Karishmaaa... aap ek baat batao... aapko kounsa actor pasand hai?"

Confused, Karishma responds, "Ranbir Kapoor"

"Aur koun pasand nahi hai?"

"Ummm... Kartik Aaryan"

Sai smiles and with a naughty smile answers,

"Exactly... jaise aapki choices hai vaise hi meri dost ki choices hai... he doesn't go around hitting on all men because he is gay. Aur vaise bhi... use Virat pasand hai... par us tarike se nahi (Sai winks at Virat who shakes his head in exasperation) Haan agar Mohit Bhaiya pasand aa jaaye to keh nahi sakti"

Karishma shrieks a "Are nahiiiii" and quickly holds Mohit while everyone guffaws...

Mohit understanding his naughty vahini... "Are Karishmaa... Sai vahini majak kar rahi hai... chodo mujhe"

Sai continues and asks "Ab main jau ya aur questions hai?"

Ninad then interjects, "Sai ek baat batao... ye kounsa dost hai tumhara? Virat mila hai kya usse?"

Virat nods, "Haan Baba... vo Sai ka colleague... Dr. Aditya... uski baat ho rahi hai"

"Doctor???? Aur Aisa???" Its Omi Kaka who has spoken again.

Sai rolls her eyes and finally decides to deal with this head on... Its time to correct this regressive mindset. However, looking at Virat, who is increasingly worried, she decides to deal with it calmly.

"Omi Kaka... aapko veg version chahiye ya nonveg version???"

"Ye kya majak hai Sai... thik se sab kuch batao"

"Thike Omi Kaka... to suniye.... jab conception hota hai na... uske baad 6 weeks tak koi sexual organs develop nahi hota... all that happens after 6 weeks... so whatever is your biological sex.... everyone starts as a woman"

The expressions on Sai's face and that of Omi kaka are in sharp contrast to each other.

Feeling emasculated, he is about to contradict her when Sonali throws another question.

"Lekin Sai... tumhara dost to Doctor hai na... to why he didn't do anything?"

Exhausted with the questioning, Sai finally occupies the empty seat at the table.

"Kaku... biological sex is different than gender. Biologically he is a man, but feels attracted to other men... that's why his gender is Gay... Aur once again, ye koi contagious disease nahi hai, neither its a mental illness ki dawai di aur thik ho gayi... kaise samjhau... its psychological.... simply a matter of preference... just like I pointed out to Karishma... he likes men... just like you and me like men..."

Bhavani Kaku irritated with the conversation, "Kuch nahi hai.. ye tum naye generation ke ulte seedhe tarike hai... aapne aap ko importance dene ke.. aisa kuch nahi hota"

Sai feels her anger rising, she looks at Virat who pleads with his eyes to let it go.... controlling her anger, Sai turns to Bhavani and asks,

"Kaku... ek baat bataiye... Brihannala koun thi?"

Everyone turns to hear what Kaku has to say, when she loudly responds,

"Koun thi nahi... koun tha? Maharathi Arjun tha... 1 saal ke agatvaas main unhe stree roop dharan karke rehna pada tha"

"Aur Kaku, agayatvaas ke ant main kya hua?"

"Ant main... Arjun ne yuddhh karke Uttara Kumar ko jitaya tha"

"To ab aap hi bataiye Kaku... kya ek saal stree roop lene se Arjun ki virta main koi kami aai? Kya unka shaurya kam hua?"

Kaku doesn't have an answer to it and Sai has a victory smile...

"To Kaku... ye koi naye zamane ka shouk nahi hai... Mahabharat ke kaal se hai... aur gender kya hai isse us insaan ke capabilities main farak nahi padta. Mera dost utna hi acchha Doctor hai jitni main hun..."

"Hamare ghar main sab padhe likhe log hai, hum hi aisi dakianusi soch rakhenge to kaise chalega? Hume apna nazariya badalne ki jarurat hai"

Sai gets up and is about to go when a lost Karishma loudly wonders to herself,

"Lekin vo karte kaise honge???"

Mohit hides his face, hoping nobody has heard it. Especially Sai.

Sai turns and coming near Karishma, taps her shoulder bringing her out of the reverie...

"Karrishma... aapko na sach main mic ke jarurat hai... anyway ... you make it sound it so mechanical... there are many ways to derive pleasure... try experimenting... baad main mujhe pooch lena... main bata dungi"

The last part of the sentence is said quietly, yet loud enough that it can be heard by the few nearby.

Mohit and Samrat literally chortle, look at each other and hit Virat below the table.

Passing a naughty wink at Virat, the sassy Sai finally goes away while a blushing and embarrassed Virat is left hiding his face at the boldness of his wife.

Once again, this is not to make fun of anyone of this community.

Just a fun post to bring out the prejudices people like CNwasis suffer from and who better than our bold Sai Joshi to do the honours.

Correct me if I am wrong somewhere. This is purely my understanding of the issue.
