Force Sight - part 7

Hera inhaled deeply, then she sent the clearance codes they so needed to work. The crew held their breath and worked on their patience.

Over the speaker came, "...your clearance codes check out. Dock in bay 378RK." Everyone cheered and hugged each other.

"Ha, told ya," Sabine said, smiling, hand on her hip.

"I knew it would work." Ezra stated confidently. Sabine slapped him.

"You did not! You said you thought there was a 32% chance it would work." Ezra threw his hands up.

"Your right, your right, please don't kill me!" Zeb laughed, and Sabine turned on him.

"Why are you laughing, Garazeb? I don't recall you having much faith in Hera either." Zeb gulped at the look in her sightless eyes. Hera decided it was time to intervene.

She docked the ship while they were arguing, then turned to them.

"Alright, we're here, you can stop now. Sabine, I want you to take my seat, Zeb, I want you in the upper cannon, watching to make sure no one gets suspicious. Kanan, Ezra, your with me. Let's go people!" Zeb and Hera left immediately. Ezra grabbed Sabines hand, and she could see herself. For a moment, she could feel Ezra's worry about her, and his ever present, if buried, anger that she wasn't in the fight with him. She squeezed his hand, and he squeezed back.

"I'll be fine," she whispered. "Don't worry." His eyes widened, and then he smiled.

"I just wish you could be with me."

"But I'm not. It's better this way. Go, do your thing." She faked a smile, and Ezra responded the same way. They both knew those were fake words.

But just then Kanan grabbed Ezra, and he let go of Sabines hand and the men left. Sabine listened as they left, and heard the shouting and shooting that followed. She only hoped they could get the person they were looking for safely.

***

Ezra deflected the bullets with ease. He was very mad Sabine wasn't at his side, but Hera was doing a pretty good job too, so he tried to concentrate on the job at hand. He deflected a few lasers back at the stormtroopers, and then made a mad dash to the blast door. He quickly got it open, and yelled at Hera and Kanan to get in.

Hera came in, and then Kanan came right behind her, still deflecting shots even as the door was closing. He then sliced the controls, locking the door, and the three were off.

Ezra led the way, running down the dead gray halls, lightsaber ignited.

"Hera, what level was the commander on?"

Hera replies, "Level 4B, cell block 57."

"Got it!" And the three ran faster.

They made it to an elevated without running into any troopers. They jumped in and pressed the buttons to go up. Kanan spoke while yet waited.

"I don't like the lack of troopers out there." Ezra nodded.

"I agree, it's just not right." Hera looked confused.

"Isn't it good that we didn't encounter anyone?" Kanan shook his head.

"No," he said, "It's protocol to always have troopers on every floor. The fact that there wasn't any means that a different protocol is in effect, which means nothing good for us." Hera nodded.

"Right, I knew that. Sorry I asked." Kanan turned and placed his hands on her shoulders. He spoke softly, deeply.

"Don't ever be sorry to ask questions in this scenario. It's very important to know everything possible, and if that means you need to ask a question, then please don't hesitate to ask it." Hera smiled at her knight and placed her hand on his. Ezra felt like he was intruding and he tried not to move and distract them.

Just then the light dinged, and the two Jedi ignited their sabers.

"Ready Ezra?" Kanan asked, as if that intimate moment had never happened.

"Ready." Ezra sighed out. He tried extremely hard not to think of how one of Sabines smoke bombs would be oh so perfect right now.

The doors opened, and the three jumped out, defenses up.

There was no one.

Ezra stood up from his crouching position, confused.

"Ohh, this is bad," Kanan mumbled. "We've gotta hurry. Come on!" Kanan yelled the last part, and Hera and Ezra raced on after him.

They came to level 4B, and Hera found cell block 57. Ezra knelt and worked on the lock while Kanan and Hera watched the halls.

After a few moments Kanan fiercely whispered, "Hurry!"

Ezra continued his methodical approach to the lock. He replied to Kanan, "You can't rush these things." Kanan rolled his eyes and grunted.

Finally Ezra finished. "Got it!" He triumphantly yelled.

"Great!" Kanan replies. He and Hera rushed over as the door swished open. Just as it began opening, Ezra thought he could detect a cold feeling coming from the cell.

The door duly opened, and Hera gasped. Kanan muttered, "Karabast," and Ezra's jaw dropped. Their commander was there, all right. Sitting on the cold hard bench. There was only one thing missing. More specifically, his head was missing. He was dead.

Before they had time to marvel at this a red glow appeared from the corner of the cell. From the same corner deep, dark laughter ensued. The laughing voice began speaking.

"Ah, you have arrived. I thought you would. Looks like Fulcrum, that is what you call him? Delivered his message."

Kanan glared at the speaker.

"You knew we were coming."

"Ah, yes, I did." He began swinging his lightsaber around, and he slowly walked out into the light. The more of him Ezra saw, the more horrified he was. This was no normal Imperial person. In fact, it was no person at all. He was almost seven feet tall, had muscles larger than his head, and he was completely midnight black, except for a few veins of red randomly covering his body. He wore tight black leggings and a sort of tank top thing on top. He also had a short one shoulder cape. The scariest part of his though was his eyes. They weren't red, like all he evil people in the galaxy. No, this things eyes were white, with a dusting of black and a small black dot in them. Defiantly not someone you want to see before you went to bed, Ezra thought.

Back to the present the creature did a sweeping bow.

"Ah, you must forgive me; I haven't introduced myself." He suddenly lept out of the cell, and if Kanan's defenses hadn't been up, he would have ended up like the poor commander in their.

The creature's lightsaber deflected off Kanan's and he landed gracefully. He looked up with a smile and said, "My names Haunted."

Sabine lay back in the chair and sighed. She felt so useless. The noises from the fight had long since dispersed and she was left with absolutely nothing to do. She couldn't even paint. It was super boring.

"Ug, I've never wanted to see a bucket head more in my life." She began talking to herself as she spun in her chair. She felt the wind in her hair, and started thinking of a new hairstyle she could adopt.

Ten minutes later, the only thing she had adopted was a headache from over-spinning. She groaned and leaned forward on the dash, holding her head.

"Karabast, Sabine, that is literally the dumbest way to get a headache." She groaned again. Rubbing her temples, she thought of a question to ask Zeb.

She turned on the ships comm and awkwardly asked, "Hey hey, Garazeb, what's the weather like up there?" The only thing she got in reply was a grunt. She sighed. This was going to be a hard conversation.

As she thought of questions to ask, she felt the oddest sensation, almost like she was shocked, like she had seen something crazy. She frowned. Well that was illogical. She tried to figure it out, but the feeling drifted away, and she forgot about it.

***

Kanan stood next to Ezra, and both of them were in front of Hera, who was essentially useless with only her little pistol. She stood back in a safe place and watched nervously.

Ezra listened as the creature stated his name proudly. He saw his opportunity and went for it.

"Ahhhh!" He shouted and jumped in the air. It startled both Kanan and Haunted.

"Your names 'Haunted'? I AM SO KRIFFING SCARED!" Haunted narrowed his eyes while Ezra laughed. He couldn't help but continue.

"What, your mom was so scared of your ugly face she thought you were a ghost?" Ezra slapped his thigh and laughed. Kanan tried to tell the kid through the force to knock it off but Ezra ignored him. Haunted's eyes narrowed further and further, until he screamed and leapt for the duo. Ezra immediately stopped his comedy act and brought his saber up to meet Haunted's. They froze in action, and then Haunted flipped with incredible speed and attacked Kanan. With Force enhanced reflexes Kanan just managed to bring up his lightsaber in time. He grunted at the effort needed to hold Haunted off. Then Haunted when after Ezra, and the fight continued. Every time Ezra or Kanan tried to get the best of Haunted, he somehow managed to stop them. Hera stood by with her hand over her mouth, barely able to watch.

After a few minutes the Jedi's were exhausted, and it looked like Haunted was just getting started. He was moving quicker and quicker, while Ezra and Kanan were moving just fast enough. Hera had long since left to Lothal knows where, and the master and apprentice searched desperately for a way out of this.

Ezra deflected an overhead strike with what strength he had left, which wasn't much. He gritted his teeth as Haunted slowly shoved him backwards. Ezra's own lightsaber was coming dangerously close to his face, and he was just starting to feel the heat from it when he pressure stopped. He heard a grunt and looked up, panting, to see Kanan using the force to pull Haunted off Ezra. Struggling, Kanan used the last of his energy and flung Haunted against the wall, stunning him.

Ezra limp-ran over to his master as Kanan crumpled to the floor.

"Kanan!" He rasped, extremely thirsty from the fight.

Kanan held his hand up, and Ezra sighed in relief that he was still conscious. They both took a moment to rest and collect there thoughts.

***

Sabine jolted up from her position lying on the dashboard. She had just felt something, but she was too out of it to determine what it was. She yawned and stretched, and brought her hand up to her face. She smiled as she felt the indents left by the buttons on the control panel she had been resting on.

And then she felt it. Although she had just been rejuvenated from her little nap, she suddenly felt exhaustion, but it was different from how she normally felt. Sabine sat straight up in her chair, and the feeling became stronger. She felt like all her strength and energy was slowly being drained, like if she was working out or something.

Instead of ignoring it, this time Sabine leaned back, closed her eyes, and concentrated on it. When she did, she gasped as she felt much more. She began to feel fear, and as she settled herself, she even felt lost, like she had no place being where she was. She felt like she wanted something, someone, but she somehow felt that feeling...duplicated? Sabine was majorly confused. She knew she wanted Ezra-that much was clear. She focused more on the feelings, and she realized that all these new ones seemed somehow detached from her, like she was feeling them, but they weren't hers. And then it struck her.

That's because they weren't hers. They were Ezra's. She was feeling Ezra's feelings, and he was in trouble.

Just then Hera burst through the door.

"Zeb!" She called out. "Ezra and Kanan need help! No time to explain, get out here!" Zeb replied, "I'm coming!" He jumped out of the canan and ran down to Hera.

Sabine jumped up from her seat and stumbled out to Hera as well.

"I'm ready Hera," she said, standing straight. Hera glanced at her and winced.

"No Sabine, your staying on the ship, and that's an order." Sabines countenance crumbled.

"But Hera, Ezra and Ka-"

"No Sabine," Hera says, and she finished her comment as she ran down the hall. "You'll be more of a hindrance than a help out here!" And her and Zeb were gone, leaving a helpless Sabine in the hallway, staring after them.

She couldn't help it. Her eyes started welling with tears, and she collapsed in the middle of the hall. Her heart broke as she realized the truth in Hera's statement: "Your a hinderance." Her shoulders shook with emotion, real emotion, her emotion, as she reached out desperately for Ezra.

***

Kanan and Ezra recovered there breath and sat up. They looked at Haunted, only a few feet away, and then at each other. No words were spoken. They simply started walking away.

They were near the end of the hallway when Ezra felt it. He fell to the floor as Haunted began using the force to pull him closer.

"KANAN!" Ezra screamed. Kanan started running toward his apprentice, but then he froze in mid stride. Haunted was pulling Ezra while pushing Kanan!

Kanan looked on, helpless. "EZRA!" He shouted. He looked around desperately to try and find Hera, and his only comfort when he couldn't was that she didn't have to watch them die.

Kanan tried to fight, but his opponent was so much stronger in the force, it was useless. He let tears fall down his face freely as he heard Ezra's shouts for help.

There way nothing he could do, as he watched his dear apprentice float closer and closer to his death.
