Ruby: Meeting the Family

Sitting down on the bed you look at the scroll in your hands. It had the message from your parents saying how they wanted to meet this Ruby. Calling mom she picks it up.

Mom: Hi sweetie. Wait, let me put it on the speaker so your dad can hear.

Dad: So when are we meeting Ruby?

Y/N: I'm giving you a heads up. Ruby likes cookies.

Mom: We can prepare a batch.

Y/N: I don't think you fully understand. She really, really likes cookies. Like I seen her eat a plate of cookies in tenish seconds.

Dad: Oh god.

Y/N: It gets worse.

Mom: It can't get any more bad.

Y/N: Without any milk.

Dad: (sighs) Give us until the afternoon.

Mom: We'll close up shop early tomorrow.

Dad: Bye son. Oh yeah, tell your uncle that it would be nice if he actually visited.

Mom: See you tomorrow sweetie.

Y/N: Bye. I will.

Hanging up the scroll you immediately went off to Team RWBY's room. Knocking on the door you wait until it opens.

Ruby: Y/N? Wh-

Before Ruby can answer you saw in the corner of your eye a teacher walking through the hall. Not wanting to take a chance you barge in the room, closing the door behind you.

Ruby: It's 10:00 p.m.

Y/N: I know. I know. Listen, my parents want to meet you tomorrow.

Ruby: Really?

Y/N: Yes.

Ruby: I can't wait to meet them! I mean you already met mine but not yours.

Y/N: Look it's kinda far away so we'll have to leave in the morning. Tomorrow we'll pack a bag or two as we'll be there for the weekend.

Ruby: Got it.

Going to the door you slightly open it only to see another teacher walking through the hall. You quickly close the door.

Ruby: Is something wrong?

Y/N: I will get caught if I try.

Ruby: Well you can sleep with me.

Y/N: Uhhh...

You look to Ruby's bed and wonder how her bed can hold her, much less you as well.

Y/N: Are you sure it will be able to hold me also? I mean this is why when we both sleep together we do it in my room.

Ruby: Really? I thought it was because of Yang. Her bed is right across from mine.

Y/N: That too.

Ruby: Well you don't need to be scared. You can sleep on the left side.

You see Ruby suddenly appear on the bed as it began to creak and sway back and forth.

Y/N: The floor is fine.

Ruby: Nope.

Y/N: But.

Ruby: Nope.

Y/N: Fine.

You slowly climbed up the bed, praying that you will not fall. Managing to get on the bed you adjust a bit before turning around to see Ruby facing you.

Ruby: Good night. Love you.

Y/N: Love you too. Oh yeah. Mom and dad will make some things for when we come.

Ruby: Yes!

Wrapping your arms around Ruby you hold her tightly as she snuggles up beside you.

As the morning came you woke up seeing that Ruby was asleep. Looking at the time you saw how it was five in the morning. Shaking Ruby gently you wake her up.

Y/N: Wake up.

You say this kissing Ruby on the lips as she opens her mouth slightly open.

Ruby: Mmm...

Y/N: Wake up sleepyhead.

Ruby: What time is it?

Y/N: Five. We have to leave early. Just get ready and you can sleep on the bullhead.

Ruby: But I never got to tell Yang.

Y/N: I'll write a note. Besides you know Yang will say something like ryes and shine.

Ruby: (shudders) That or bread puns happen when you yeast expect them.

Groaning at the pun she did Ruby went to the bathroom to get ready. You went back in your room to do the same as well.

On the bullhead Ruby immediately went to sleep on your shoulder. Getting close you gently shook her awake.

Ruby: Wha? Are we there yet?

Y/N: Almost. I have a few things to say.

Ruby: Is something wrong?

Y/N: I had to warn them beforehand.

Ruby: I can't wait to try what they make!

Y/N: That's exactly why.

Ruby: Are they better than you?

Y/N: Yes. I learned everything from them.

Ruby: You know I also can't wait to see all the pictures of you when you were younger.

You mentally curse to yourself knowing full well your mom will decibels show Ruby your pictures.

Y/N: Yeah. Just prepare for the early ones.

Ruby: What, why? Is it embarrassing?

Y/N: You'll figure it out but dad looked really awful. I was an accident. He was tired all the time and looks mad. Mom looked like she was unhappy. They were not ready for me.

Ruby: Uhhh... I don't know what to say.

Y/N: Don't make any food related puns.

Ruby: But why would I? Remember I'm not Yang or my dad. Do they hate them?

Y/N: They got tired of all the baker related puns. Every year during the family reunion they have to hear it.

Ruby: Okay. Got it. No puns. Anything else I should know?

Y/N: Nah. Just act yourself.

Ruby: Really? It's just that Weiss told me the day I finally meet-

Y/N: No. No, I told them about you before. They will see right through it. Trust me, they will love you.

One game later that Ruby claims was a draw but you won the bullhead lands. Getting out your parents were waiting for you.

Dad: Y/N!

Walking up to you dad, hugging him you go over to your mom and do the same.

Mom: Is this who we think it is?

Ruby: I'm Ruby Rose. Nice to meet you.

Ruby attempted to shake your mom's hand but was met by a hug instead. The same did happen with your dad.

Dad: We're practically family. None of those handshakes.

Mom: Are you hungry? Did you eat?

Ruby: Yes to the first question and no to the second one.

Mom: Y/N, how could you do that to your girlfriend?

Ruby: No, no. It's okay. The cafeteria wasn't open and we had to leave early.

Dad: Let's go get your bags.

Grabbing Ruby's hand your mom seeing this immediately took a picture.

Y/N: Mom.

Mom: Sorry. We don't have many pictures of you two together. What are we going to show your kids?

Y/N: Mom! I'm only seventeen and Ruby is fifteen.

Dad: Fifteen? I thought Beacon only accepts students only by the age of seventeen.

Ruby: I am a special case. Did you hear the news about the dust robbery of a shop called From Dust Till Dawn?

Dad: Yeah.

Ruby: Well I stopped it.

Mom: Didn't the person get away?

Ruby: Well it was Roman Torchwick so...

Mom: Well at least you made it out safe.

The rest went as you expected. Once you two were sat in the table you smugly watched on as you see your parents reaction to Ruby as she ate cookies.

Mom: ...

Dad: How? How?

Y/N: See. I make her cookies once a week.

Dad: If Ruby shopped here we could of had an early retirement years ago.

Chuckling, after eating Ruby was the one who asked about the pictures. While your mom did that with Ruby your dad calls you over to help with the grill.

Dad: You know your mom and I met while in Beacon?

Y/N: You were in Beacon!?

Dad: We both were. Anyways your mom was having doubts and I almost died. That day I realized this was not for me.

Y/N: How did baking come into play?

Dad: Well don't tell your mom as she doesn't know the full story.

Y/N: How does that-

Dad: Not done. Anyways so it's Beacon so of course it'll have drugs as what do you expect with kids.

Y/N: What kind of parties were these?

Dad: It wasn't bad. Anyways never baked in my life but I was in charge of making all the edibles. Yeah, as it turns out I figured out on that day I actually loved to do baking.

Y/N: And mom?

Dad: Eh, I taught her but we were saving all the money we were making. Once we quit we sold our weapons. We lived with your uncle for a couple of years. First few was awful. It tested out relationship.

Y/N: Oh.

Dad: Don't worry. You have us and of course Ozpin. Basically don't be afraid to ask if you need help. Now go get the tri tip. I'm going to show you how I make it.

Weiss: Meeting the Family

Y/N: Weiss! Weiss!

Feeling your scroll vibrate you get it out to see the text from Weiss.

Weiss: (text message) I can hear you all the way from the library!

Y/N: At least Weiss didn't call me a dunce.

Weiss: (text message) You could have simply texted me you dunce.

Y/N: Hmmm.

Going to the library, entering you quickly spot Weiss studying as usual. Walking up to Weiss she puts her book down.

Weiss: What did you needed to say so badly that you had to yell?

Y/N: Well my dad wants to meet you.

Weiss: Hmmm...

Y/N: Is something wrong?

Weiss: No, I actually think it would indeed be a better idea that I met yours before you meet mine or my sister.

Y/N: Good, I'm going to pack for tomorrow.

Seeping into the shadows you were about to scurry away until Weiss stopped you.

Weiss: Now just wait a minute.

Y/N: (appears) Yes?

Weiss: It's tomorrow?

Y/N: Is that not good? I can ask my dad to reschedule.

Weiss: No. I can work it in my schedule but a kiss goodbye.

Weiss leans in, giving a peck on the lips but immediately you went into the shadows but reappear much to Weiss's confusement.

Y/N: Sorry. Force of habit when I get too nervous.

Weiss: What am I going to do with you?

Y/N: Love me.

Weiss: I... I... Just go pack your bag before you forget.

As the next day arrived and making it to the house you were about to knock on the door but Weiss stops you.

Weiss: Do I look presentable?

Y/N: Yes.

Weiss: I am serious Y/N. First impressions are everything.

Y/N: You look good Weiss. Go knock on the door while I carry your bag.

Weiss: Thank you.

Walking up to the door Weiss hesitantly puts her hand's curled fingers up to the door.

Y/N: Go on.

Weiss: It's just I'm nervous. What if none of your parents like me being with you?

Y/N: They will. I mean if Ruby can like you after what you did then dad can.

Weiss: Okay. I can do this. I'm a Schnee. If I can deal with my dad how hard can this be?

Knocking on the door it then opens to reveal your dad. Weiss extends out her arm to shake your dad's hand.

Weiss: It is nice to finally meet you Mr. Xiao Long.

Tai: My name is Taiyang but you can just call me Tai. You're making me feel old.

Y/N: Aren't you?

Tai: Well not old enough to still beat you in a fight Y/N.

Y/N: Yeah. Maybe but I have been learning.

Tai: Whose bag is that?

Y/N: This one is Weiss's.

Tai: I knew I Rose you right.

Weiss: I see where Yang got her puns from.

Getting inside the house Weiss looks around wondering one thing.

Weiss: May I ask where is your wife?

Tai looks to you and you held your head down a bit saddened.

Y/N: We will meet mom later.

Tai: How's Yang and Ruby.

Y/N: Good. Good. Right now they're getting help from Blake for a test.

Tai: Huh. Why aren't you having trouble?

Wrapping your arm around Weiss you pull her in closer.

Y/N: Because I have Weiss.

Weiss: You're selling yourself short. I must admit that your son is better at school than your daughters.

Tai: Wow, based on the letters I first got from Ruby you really changed.

Weiss: Excuse me?

Tai: Uhh Ruby has been going how you been becoming a good teammate.

Weiss: And Y/N?

Tai: Oh you know how despite you having a cold persona there is a kind soul beneath it.

Y/N: I wouldn't have told my dad if Ruby didn't told me I should write about you.

Weiss: Why would  you want to write about me?

Y/N: It's kinda odd for a boy to tell that to his dad in a sense.

Tai: Well I'll prepare lunch. Also nice idea to call Y/N the nickname Thorn. I see what you were done with Rose.

Y/N: I'm going to show Weiss to mom now.

Tai: Alright. See you later son and say hi for me. I need to place a new set of flowers soon.

Grabbing Weiss's hand you start to take her to your mom.

Weiss thought briefly on what this could have possibly meant. Though she put the thoughts to the back of her mind.

Weiss: So, what's her name?

Y/N: Summer Rose.

Weiss: Isn't it traction that the children get the father's surname?

Y/N: Yeah, but I guess with Ruby since I was her twin they decided that I would have my mom's last name also.

Weiss: That makes sense.

Walking a little forward you arrive right up to the spot and stop.

Y/N: We're here.

Weiss: I don't see anybody.

Y/N: Look below you.

Weiss looks right at her feet only to see what you meant. Her gravestone.

Weiss: Ohh...Y/N I'm so sorry.

Y/N: Don't be. You could say I take after my sister concerning mom. Though she inherited more of her features.

Taking off the white Rose emblem from your outfit you look at it as it rests on your hand.

Y/N: This was my mom's. While Ruby got a red one when she was born I got my mom's white one as I was a surprise.

Weiss: So that's why you said what you said when I first met you.

Y/N: Yup, though you can say you met her already in a sense. Ruby did inherit a lot of her features. Never got to meet her really. I only got to hear stories. Well so did Ruby.

Weiss: It's okay. I'm here for you.

Y/N: Thanks... I needed this.

Standing there, looking at your mom's for a while you decide to speak up.

Y/N: You know I find it to be odd how Ruby got her signature Rose petals when she used her semblance. I got something more darker. In fact it was confusing when I first used it.

Weiss: What happened?

Y/N: My dad, Ruby, and Yang all freaked out wondering where I went. I didn't like it at first but I found it soothing when Uncle Qrow told me something long ago. He said I was serving the light by working in the shadows.

Standing in more silence you had the sudden realization you never introduced Weiss.

Y/N: Mom, meet Weiss. She is my girlfriend. I know that Ruby talked about Weiss and her teammates but I never did.

Weiss: Hello, I'm Weiss Schnee. It's nice to meet you finally. Your son may be how you would say a bit of dolt from time to time but he's my dolt.

Y/N: Hey!

Weiss: You're the one who called me snow angel when we first met.

Y/N: I was using the names I was given and you do match its beauty.

Weiss: (embarrassed) I-I uhhh... Could you not do this in front of your mother?

Y/N: Right. Anyways mom you may be kinda wondering how it happened. Honestly I don't know myself and I wonder everyday. Sure we fight, playfully of course.

Weiss: Yup.

Y/N: I know that I should treat females with respect but it was teasing. Oh yeah and don't worry about Ruby. She's doing good and also Yang. Though Ruby will talk to you about it.

Weiss: Y/N, you're kinda getting off track.

Y/N: Right. Thank you Weiss. Sometimes my thoughts get jumbled up.

You two talked with your mom for a while but you had to return as food was ready.
