Neo Request

A/N: This took way longer than planned, but this is the reason I never done something for Neo. The fact she cannot talk. There is barley anything for Anthem given is practically dead so for this request it will seem odd. I focused more on the other aspects.

Sitting at one of the table in Beacon Academy you remain motionless as Ruby was going on about who knows what to her team and you. Though you could care less about what Ruby was talking about. Today was the day where once a week you met up with Neo.

Ruby: Y/N?

Y/N: Huh?

Weiss: Were you listening?

Blake: It looked like your heads were in the clouds.

Y/N: Sorry.

Grabbing out your scroll you saw that it was finally time.

Y/N: Well I gotta go.

Standing up you left much to the curiosity of Team RWBY.

Ruby: Do you ever wonder where Y/N goes? It's the same time every week.

Yang: I mean I never seen him hanging out with someone else other than us.

Blake: (puts book down) If we're going to do this leg me pick something on the way back.

Ruby: Weiss?

Weiss: Would my word have done anything to stop you?

Ruby: No. Now, let's go!

Walking along the usual route you think back to how you got here. You were not from this planet but rather a planet that called Coda. Though despite all of this you essentially only  traded one hellhole for one better one. Like the former a lot of things tries to actively kill you. As for how you got here that was rather straightforward all things considered. During the final fight with the Monitor right as you were at the cusp of victory the bastard used a mysterious shaper relic. Next thing you know you woke up in a scrapyard. Now you spend your days either killing Grimm or searching for the Monitor, but all that changed one day while getting ice cream.

This double scoop of Neapolitan ice cream was the last ones. A few moments later at a bench you were at the edge of an umbrella with a short female pointing at the cone and then at her. You took the hint saying you will but for a talk that will last as long as it takes her to finish it. From that moment forward it became a weekly thing. During some weeks this was skipped entirely like during one you found out her long time partner got killed. Despite finding out she was bad you stuck around, too enamored to care. A few weeks after that you were together. Getting out of your thoughts you spot Neo or rather her in a disguise as for the briefest of moments you see the colors of her eyes change. The subtle way of her showing who she was. Sitting down on the bench she hands you a cone of coconut ice cream.

Y/N: Wait, how did you get these? I'm the one normally buying them. Did you?

Neo simply flashes you a mischievous smile. This was all you need to confirm she in fact did stole them.

Meanwhile Team RWBY was hiding behind two newspapers as they were sitting down on a nearby bench.

Yang: This is where he goes?

Blake: It's romantic in a way how he makes the time to do this.

Ruby: I honestly expected something more exciting.

Weiss: Not every waking moment has to be exciting, Ruby. Some people actually prefer the peace that to you seems boring.

Blake: Every week it seems like we get into some kind of shenanigan after all.

Ruby: Shhhh. They're getting up.

Just as Ruby said the two of you got up from your bench with Neo clinging onto your arm.

Yang: Oh no, they're one of those types of couples. The lovey dovey kind.

Blake: How can you tell? Even then it's one thing when they're the two are by themselves and another when people do it in a group.

Weiss: You guys do realize that while you were talking they are now gone, right?

Ruby: Where did they go?

Weiss: The diner across the street.

Ruby: Let's go then.

Ruby left before they could even say whether they wanted to or not. Following their leader they now found themselves in the diner, two tables away from Y/N and the woman who he was with.

Y/N: I finally found out where the Monitor is.

Neo looks to you confused. After all you never did fully tell her about this Monitor.

Y/N: Right... Never did tell ya. Let's just say he's the reason I'm in this mess to begin with.

You hold back the pain in shin as she kicked you there.

Y/N: Son of a- Look you're a different matter but waking up on a new planet is not exactly good. Though you're one the few good things that came out of it.

Seeing her smirk as if letting you know that
she knows was good. Too bad it came at the cost of your shin.

With the food's arrival you continue on what seems to be a one sided conversation to most people. Despite not fully grasping on how to do sign language you could tell her response by body language even if it's only the gist of it. Not good but adequate she's not in the mood of constantly typing on her scroll. Once you two finished you paid while Neo put left the tip. Even if she was bad she was not that bad to leave without giving a tip knowing full well the pay for waiters and waitresses.

Weiss: Why did you decide to follow them?

Ruby: I got hungry.

Yang: Really?

Ruby: What? Spying on your friends works up an appetite.

Weiss: Blake?

Blake: I have nothing to add to this. I'm just enjoying my food.

Weeks later things were not going well. Neo sent a messaging saying she wouldn't be able to meet up this week due to a job she had to finish. As such you continue on working the final repairs on your javelin. Once finished you took a long needed break and made your way to the cafeteria for a bite to eat. Though you run into Ruby on the way.

Y/N: Ruby? Why are you here? Weren't you all on your mission with Oobleck?

Ruby: Well long story short we ran into the White Fang and a train maybe got derailed. Ooh, we captured Torchwick's partner, but I wonder why he wasn't there.

Y/N: Wait, what about the last part?!

Ruby: Torchwick's partner, the one with an umbrella. We managed to get her as her leg got stuck on some rubble. JNPR and my team are going to celebrate.

You were distress by this but you had to keep your cool to get more information.

Y/N: So what did you do with her anyways?

Ruby: Oh you know Atlas soldiers came in and took her away to their airships. Anyways want to come with?

Y/N: Maybe later. I gotta do something.

Running off, Ruby, turns around to briefly see you running back. She thought that this was strange at first but figured you had something important to do.

You were panicking unsure what to do. There was no way you could take on everyone in an airship. More so when reinforcements would easily be ferried on to deal with an intruder. Making it inside your room you stop as in the corner of your eye you see your board covered entirely with clues with string connecting one to another. The centerpiece being a picture of the Monitor in Remnant.

Y/N: Fuck. Okay. Okay. I guess it's time to pay him a visit finally.

Stepping into your javelin and grabbing your gear you jump through your room's window, breaking the glass. Because of what you were going to do you would not be able to return anyways if this worked. Flying off in your exo-suit to a safe house that he has been visiting rather frequently.

Hours later mayhem was being unleashed on the safe house with everyone attempting to stop the mysterious figure only to be killed on the spot. As gunfire was ringing out one lone grunt ran to the door while the rest or rather what remains of his teammates were being slaughtered left and right.

Random Grunt: (opens door) Sir, we can-

The grunt stops mid sentence, looking down only to see that he was impaled by a blade. Immediately pulling out the blade you watch as the person falls on the floor lifeless. The Monitor watching all of this play out in its entirety didn't move from the chair he was sitting upon. He simply tosses a scroll at you which you look only to see a paused timer.

Monitor: To think you were the one that almost put me down.

Y/N: I was testing my javelin.

Rising up you were forced to look up as he stood above your height. Despite what you were in right now you briefly thought how must Neo feel.

Monitor: I know that you were tracking me. Now, the one thing I cannot seem to wrap my head around is why are you alone now?

Y/N: A deal.

He was intrigued by this given how you felt about Bastion at the tomb. It was so unlike your character.

Monitor: I'm listening.

Y/N: Servitude to you for help. Atlas forces captured someone close to me and I cannot take them on alone.

Monitor: Ah love, a fickle thing. It can make people do stupid things.

Y/N: Do you accept or not?

Monitor: And what is stopping you from betrayal after the job is done?

Y/N: After what I'll do there's no going back. It's as simple as that. Now you can either try to strike me down or once the job is done you could have two capable subordinates in your command. A fair trade if I do say so myself.

Monitor: Yes. This would greatly benefit me for my plans ahead.

Y/N: And that is?

Monitor: More will be explained once I can actually see your loyalty. What plagued our previous world does so with this to a lesser extent. A problem nevertheless but one that can be solved with relics of a kind and many other kinds.

You were unsure how to feel about this but living in this world these past months you knew that the kingdom's academies were essentially a stopgap measure and not the solution needed. It felt as if the people were fine living in this balance with what is called the creatures of Grimm. You all took every chance you could get to find and silence any shaper relics but again it seems like there is really nothing to figure out the cause of the Grimm to put a stop it. Thinking all of this you felt less remorse.

The plan was rather simple given the lack of time. Luckily the Monitor had plans for this fleet given the worst case scenario would be Vale's Atlas security finding out about him. Even if they were a pitiful army compared to his standards they had the backing of what is this planet's military power. As such it would be a quick break in and escape. While you go and rescue Neo they are going to do a little commandeering. A small force of his elite troops would go with him while the rest were to take everything that wasn't nailed down to take to his original base in Vacuo. Anything that can't be carried is to be burned to leave nothing behind that can give them away.

Elite Shocktrooper: Sir, they're asking for our identification. They say this aircraft has been reported missing.

Y/N: Of course he wouldn't make it easy for me.

Elite Shocktrooper: They say we have to land on landing pad 5 in the hangar and we will be boarded.

Y/N: Alright. Suit up and make it believable. I don't care what you have to do, this armor will protect me.

Landing as soon as the doors were open you all were met by multiple guns.

Atlas Soldier: HALT!

Elite Shocktrooper: No, we have no time
for this. We hold a prisoner that is linked to the derailed train fiasco. Bring him out!

Getting drag out by one you were kicked out of the bullhead, falling on the hard floor. The guns were now trained on you.

Elite Shocktrooper: Armor won't budge. He's out cold. See.

He then kicks you right in the stomach to prove his point.

Atlas Soldier: Is there any protocol for this?

He looks around only see everyone shaking their heads, unsure.

Atlas Soldier: Well it's just armor. Put him in the cells.

Elite Shocktrooper: Our squad is new. We were recently transferred so we have no idea where it is.

Atlas Soldier: Ugh. Steve, go help carry the prisoner.

Steve: Why me?

Atlas Soldier: Because I said so. Now one
of you others explain this to the captain. This is something he wants to hear.

Other Shocktrooper: I'm going to need the others to explain their side of the story. Yeah, I kinda forgot some parts.

Atlas Soldier: Ugh, our standards are really going down. Just go.

You now found yourself being drag through the airship by your legs.

Steve: (turns head around) Wait, did I just see his head move?

Elite Shocktrooper: No. I think you're just seeing things.

Steve: I guess. My shift is almost done, so why did you join anyways?

Elite Shocktrooper: Oh you know I had nothing planned.

Steve: I hear ya. I just wanted to blow stuff up but I'm stuck here. At least there is the discounts we get.

After some minutes of being dragged around while having to listen they finally drop you in front of the cells.

Elite Shocktrooper: Well Steve, I like ya so I'm not going to kill you.

Steve: Thanks, wait-

With that he punches Steve, making him go out for the count.

Elite Shocktrooper: Well sir, go do your thing. I'll link up with the rest and start the next phase. We'll be staying here and try to take down as many airships as we can. Don't expect us to be at the rendezvous point.

Y/N: That wasn't part of the plan.

Elite Shocktrooper: It isn't but it'll ensure that the skies will be free for our allies that is breaking everything down back at base. We can't possibly hide that many aircrafts flying through the No-fly zone. The city was already covered with too many checkpoints as is for any ground transportation due to the festival.

With that he leaves, leaving you to search for a control console. After some minutes more alarms were blaring off with you falling onto the floor. You assume his part must of worked out without a hitch. The other airships in the fleet must be shooting in their attempt to stop this rogue vessel.

Running through the halls you eventually did find an information console.

Y/N: Let's see. Ah, section b.

Running there, passing by letters until you found that letter. Finding the cell you pry it open only to be met with a Neo pointing at her wrist. You knew what she meant how it took you long enough.

Y/N: Yeah, yeah. Look I had to make some deals but we can talk about that later.

Suddenly footsteps was heard signaling that Atlas troops were arriving.

Y/N: How do you feel about regular guns?

Neo made an annoyed face but extended out her hand to give her the weapon. This was no umbrella after all.

In the corner of your eye you see Atlas troops arriving.

Atlas Soldier: Surrender! We have dealt with your companions.

You merely chuckle at this as they were never going to be taken alive to begin with.

Y/N: Ready to make our leave?

Neo simply nods and bows to them. As they fire off their weapons at you two to shatter the glass illusion, leaving an empty hall.
