Red Comes In Many Shades
*On Island*
It was coming and nobody knew it. Coming out of the huts, Jane noticed the clouds and everything got darker. As the day went on the clouds got darker and darker till the point where you couldn't see the sky anymore.
"It's coming." Jane said to Alex, making sure nobody else could hear.
"What do you mean it's coming?" Alex asked.
"Get Josh and let him explain everything." Jane said leaving him alone to find Josh.
Once Josh was found, he and Alex had a conversation regarding the fog. Soon Jane, and James came into the conversation.
"What are we going to tell them?" James whispered seeing as everyone was starting to slowly wake up.
"We can't scare them. All we can do right now is act like nothing is happening until it gets closer. Got it?" Jane said.
One thing you need to know about the fog is that it will strike at any time, mostly when you least expect it. It could take days, hours, or weeks for it to completely kill you and that's what makes it so dangerous. It killed Jane's parents in a few hours, but Josh's parents lasted a week before they got killed.
"What will we say when they ask us what's going on?" James asked but nobody could answer as a scream was brought onto the group causing the four to run and see what happened.
There laid Jasmine with no pulse or anything. The Island's first victim, who knows how long it will be till someone else gets killed.
__________
*Last night*
Jasmine's POV:
I actually like being stuck here, although I'm pretty sure I had some uncooked fish a while ago because my stomach hurts like a bitch. I asked around to see if anyone else is having the same problems as me but they aren't.
On the bright side, I have been getting closer to Jane the past few days even though I have a feeling it's Parkers doing because I always see her smiling when we are together. I don't know if Jane feels the same way as me or not so I don't bother trying because I don't want it to be awkward between us since we can't really leave.
Before I was about to go to bed, Parker came up to me and told me to 'Shoot my shot' so that's where I am right now. Right in front of Jane asking to talk in private because if I have learned anything from this Island it's that these people are nosey as hell.
"What's up?" Jane asked.
"I'm just going to say it. I like you and I didn't want to tell you because I didn't think you would feel the same. Oh that feels good to get off my chest." I say in one breath.
"Why didn't you tell me sooner? I was scared to tell you how I felt because I didn't know if you would feel the same. This is a relief we both have the same feeling." Jane said which surprised me. I didn't think she would actually like me back.
"So what now?" I ask, really not knowing where to go from here. I suck at expressing my feelings if you can't tell.
"Well usually after this we become significant others." Jane says walking closer to me and polding my shoulders.
"I am glad you told me this because now we can be together and now Parker and Josh wont be the only couple. Well besides Heather and Dylan but they knew each other we didn't." Jane says smiling, causing me to smile back.
That night I went to bed as happy as a kid on Christmas. Even though I went to bed happy, I couldn't get rid of the pain in my stomach and I didn't want to wake anyone up so I just let it be, hoping that it would go away in the morning.
What I think was the next day never came for me. I could hear talking but for some reason nothing was working. My eyes wouldn't open for the life of me. My limbs, nothing. I heard voices and a scream but I couldn't respond.
Then I remembered there was something special about this Island. The fog. I remember them telling us how it killed anyone who stepped foot on here and I guess I was the first victim in a long time.
That was the last thing I remember before everything went completely black. When I died, that was when I knew every memory I had of that Island was gone.
__________
"What happened to Jasmine? Why is she like that?" Heather asked, but not getting a response.
"She's gone." Josh said bluntly, causing Alex to smack him in the head.
Not knowing what to do, Chase started pacing back and forth mumbling incoherent words to nobody. Besides one being close to Parker, Jasmine and Chase were pretty close. They were basically brother and sister.
"She can't be gone." Dylan said.
"Nothing on this goddamn Island makes sense." Heather groaned, pushing a hand through her hair and soon joined the pacing with Chase.
"We don't know how this happened but we need to protect you guys before one of us is next. It's getting dangerous here even for us guys." Jane said, turning to James, Josh, and Alex.
"She's right, guys. You need to get out of here before it's too late." James told them.
"How would we do that exactly James when the four of you can't even get out of here!" Heather yelled, still pacing around leaving a hole in the dirt.
Parker nodded her head to Heather and Dylan went to try and comfort her while Parker helped Chase. Watching Parker calm Chase down sparked something inside of Josh. She was his girlfriend, he needed to trust her. But there is a nagging in his brain thinking she will end up with him because of their past.
"Calm down. It's gonna be okay." Parker whispers to Chase, hugging him and running her fingers through his hair which is the only thing that will calm him down.
"I miss her." he mumbled into her shoulder.
"I do too, but she wouldn't want us to have negative thoughts so we will think positive. When we get off this Island, we will go through all the photos we have together okay?" Parker asked, moving Chase from her shoulder so they could look each other in the eye.
"I-I know you have a boyfriend now but I miss you Parker and I'm sorry." Chase whispered, sniffing and left her alone to go back inside the hut.
"What was that about?" Heather asked her sister
"Whatever it is, I'm sure he's fine." Josh said, rolling his eyes.
"Josh." Parker whispered. Parker had a feeling Josh was jealous of Chase at some points, but this morning just proved her right.
The morning was tense to say the least. They had plans to move Jasmine's body somewhere else and have a funeral tomorrow morning, but she was gone in a matter of hours.
__________
If you asked any one of these people that they would end up on a random Island and wouldn't be able to get out, they would laugh in your face and think it was a joke. But it wasn't a joke now. This was real now and there wasn't a way out.
Well, there is but, you know let's not spoil the fun and see what happens on their journey. What used to be the group of five, became a group of nine and is now a group of eight.
One by one everyone in your life leaves you either in the blink of an eye, months, days, years. At some point they leave and you don't know what to do with yourself. Some go into a state of depression while others grieve for only a short period of time.
No matter what, we all go through things and still have to power because life doesn't just stop for you when we go through something. It keeps going and will keep going till the world ends.
That's just life for you, and if you can't take it or it gets taken away from you, you become a sunset, an animal, anything your heart desires and the people you love will know where you went because of the gut feeling.
Jasmine became the sun that morning. She was a ball of sunshine who would make sure everyone was having a good day. She would make everyone around her comfortable and not afraid to be themselves.
She also became an angel who will forever watch over the people she loves and will make sure nothing bad will ever happen to them again if she can prevent it.
Everyone was thinking questions about the passing but didn't dare to ask anyone.
Why did she have to go so early?
Jasmine shouldn't have left. It should have been me.
If we didn't end up on this Island, she would still be alive.
All these thoughts and questions were eating everyone alive and made them feel one thing.
Guilt.
