T-Shirt Weather

*Flashback*

"Dylan stop!" Jasmine yelled as he was soaking her with a squirt gun around the yard.

"Never! You shall bow down to me." Dylan said, still running around the yard as everyone else watched and laughed.

It was the summer so everyone was just wearing T-shirts and shorts. The best kind of weather if you ask any of them.

The night before the five teens were sitting on the Andersons roof just looking up at the stars. When they did that it was like nothing else mattered in that moment besides the stars and the bond of the friends.

When morning came, Joe and Lucy asked if they had a long night, knowing the two did the same when they were teenagers.

"Anything else planned for the day?" Heather asked, taking a sip of water.

"Do you guys still have that kiddie pool?" Chase asked, causing Parker and Heather to nod.

"What if we go to the dollar store and get a bunch of stuff, fill it in the pool and play tug of war." Chase continued as they all contemplated the idea but soon gave in. Since grandpa Joe still didn't trust them with the truck or any car at the moment, they had to either use skateboards or bikes. They could have walked since it was only five minutes away but decided against it.

"Hand me the cheese." Parker said as Heather went into the bag and got the squirtable cheese out and sprayed it all in the pool.

"This looks gross. I call being ref since there is an uneven amount." Jasmine said as she was helping fill up the pool with anything you can think of.

"This is so big my goodness." Heather said as Dylan yelled "THAT'S WHAT SHE SAID" and went back to his business.

"How do you deal with a literal child Heather?" Chase asked.

"Like you are any better. You poke me all the time when I say stop and then you do that 'but I'm not touching you thing' it's annoying." Parker scoffed. Chase walked over to Parker and lifted his finger up to her face.

"Like this?" Chase smirked

"You are so- Handsome, charming, stunning, the best person ever." Chase cut Parler off causing her to roll her eyes.

"You said nothing so I'm taking it as a yes." Chase said and walked away since the pool was ready.

"As the referee I declare Dylan and Heather on one team, and Chase and Parker on the other." Jasmine said.

There were two T-shirts on both ends of the rope so that they could declare who the winners would be.

"Players get into position" Jasmine said as the two teams got ready. Both boys were in the front while the girls were in the back.

Jasmine put her arm up and the whistle to her mouth. Once the whistle went off, the game began.

A minute or two went by until Chase and Parker started to lose their grip and soon enough they fell into the pool causing them to fall into the pool.

Dylan and Heather started cheering but soon got pulled in with the other two.

"This is going to be so annoying to get out." Parker groaned and went to get up but got pulled back by Chase.

"May I join in on the shower?" he said with the same smirk on his face from earlier.

"You wish lover boy. I shower alone." Parker said wiggling out of his grip and went to the side of the house getting the hose ready. Jasmine went in to get towels since she was the only clean one right now.

"Wash time." Parker said holding the hose, turning it on and washing everyone off while Jasmine handed them the towels.

After that, they watched the sun set and hoped for another eventful day like this.

*End of flashback*

__________

Jane was six while Josh was eight when they got stuck, but it wasn't their fault.

"Mommy, where are we going?" Jane asked, watching as her mom packed up a suitcase for her.

"You, me, daddy, Josh, and his parents are all doing something for our job and we can't leave you guys alone." her mom said, and Jane didn't question any of it.

Once on the boat, Jane and Josh were told no matter what to never step foot on this Island since it was dangerous. If you can guess, they went off the Island the moment nobody was around.

"Why do you think they don't want us here?" Josh asked Jane, but all she did was shrug her shoulders and continued walking till they found their parents.

"Kids, what are you doing here? We told you to stay on the boat, it's not safe for you here." Josh's dad said.

"We looked around and it's not dangerous." Jane said confused on why they were so adamant about them staying on the boat.

"We have been researching this Island so we know how dangerous it is. You can't go back now so stay close and don't wonder off." Jane's mom said.

They started to walk off until a piece of paper caught Jane's eye. She picked it up but never gave it to anyone or read it, all she did was stick it in her pocket and kept moving.

"What was that?" Josh whispered.

"I don't know. Should I give it to our parents?" she asked

"Maybe tell them tonight when we settle down on the boat." Josh said as Jane agreed.

Maybe if Jane showed the note to their parents when she found it, they wouldn't be stuck there for the rest of their lives with no way out

Maybe if the kids stayed on the boat, there would have been a way out, but nobody will ever know what would happen. So many what if's but as Jane would always say.

"As long as we do it together, nothing is impossible."

__________

*Off the Island, present day*

"Joe, what happened to them?" Lucy asked her husband not knowing what's going on with the five kids she took care of all their lives.

"Should we report this as a missing person case?" Joe asked, trying to calm her down.

"What if it's like what happened to Amanda and all of them. It was the same place." Lucy asked pacing back and forth in the living room.

Amanda, Linda, Edgar, and Luke were a tough subject to bring up to them since they were the best of friends just like Parker, Heather, Jasmine, Chase, and Dylan were. Before the teens were born, there was news of two parents and two kids never returning from an Island and to this day, they say the bodies were never found.

Once the police even sent others to investigate but they never came back from the Island, and soon warned everyone of the place. Joe and Lucy stayed on the boat that day since Lucy was sick and Joe wanted to take care of her. If they stepped foot on that Island, nobody would have gotten away that day.

"I'll call the police." Lucy said, picking up the phone and dialing 911.

"Hello 911, what's your emergency?" the operator said

"I would like to report five missing kids. They have been missing for a few days now." Lucy said, trying not to cry.

"May I have a description of each one please." the operator said and she began describing them.

Once the call was over she went to the couch and let out a sigh resting her head on Joe's shoulder.

"They will be home soon honey, don't worry." Joe said rubbing her arms

"I know, I just don't want a repeat of what happened ten years ago. I still have flashbacks of them on the news." Lucy said moving closer to her husband who placed a soft kiss on the top of her head.

"We will get them back soon enough." Joe said, comforting his wife for the rest of the night trying his best not to think of the memories himself.
