The civil war broke out brutally. People were killing each other and getting killed brutally. It was no more like the gentle and peace loving Dwarka as before.

After a disastrous end of the war, every nook and corner of the Dwaraka was destroyed. Everything seemed to end. This was when all the males decided to take samadhi in order to pay for their deeds. As Kritavarma too stepped up, Bali decided to accompany him, his decision leaving Charumati heartbroken.

"Please understand, priye." He explained.

"What a-about us, Arya? Please... Don't do this." Charumati pleaded, looking just as helpless as him, whilst tears flowed out of her eyes.

Bali sighed, not being able to see tears in her eyes. He hugged her tightly as he muttered several apologies while she broke down in his arms.

After hugging his daughter and his wife one last time and kissing her belly, where their unborn child resided, he left. However, all the others followed the men but weren't allowed to do so after a certain point.

Between the sounds of weeping of many women and girls, Charumati spotted Lakshmana. As she followed her gaze, she realised that it was not only men but even small boys who were standing on the other side.

Looking back at her, she saw her talking to Arjun. She held Drishti close to her as Arjun took her away. Every female followed their lead, as instructed by their husbands. No one could stay there for they knew that the land could submerge anytime soon.

She got on the same chariot as Lakshmana along with Drishti. "Bhabhi..." She called out as the latter looked at her surprised. Soon tears filled her eyes and her lips wobbled as she broke into cries and hugged Charumati.

Both cried in each other's arms, weeping at the turn of their fate, while Drishti too weeped as Charumati hugged her tight with her other hand.

As they moved, their cries died down out of exhaustion as their heart continued to weep. Once they covered a considerable distance, they suddenly came to a halt. Confused, they looked around only to find out they were attacked. Attacked by the mlecchas.

Dread filled them as they saw Arjun and the soldiers fighting as a part of the opponent's cavalry marched towards them. Their life and respect was the only thing left with them and they were a threat to it.

Charumati was determined to save herself and her daughter with all her might. She picked up the sword lying on the ground which originally belonged to a soldier now injured, as she hid Drishti behind her. As she did that, she saw Lakshmana making no move.

"Bhabhi?"

"I am tired, Charumati. I am tired of fighting. You go away, please."

"But-" Charumati was cut short by Drishti's scream.

"Maa!" Drishti screamed as she reached out to hold her mother when a soldier was about to touch her.

Charumati fought with all her might. She didn't know how long she fought until she got exhausted. Being pregnant simply resulted in earlier exhaustion and other issues.

Giving up upon losing her might, she ushered Drishti to a safe place, where they could not find her.

"Listen dear, please stay here. Don't get away until you are sure that no soldier is there. And once you are out, reach Hastinapur. Samrat would definitely recognise you. Please!" She explained.

"But maa, what about you?"

"If I were as little and small as you, I could accompany you. But me being here will only put you in danger. I have to go."

"Please maa! Don't go!" Drishti sobbed.

"Always remember, your maa and baba love you a lot. Please do not forget us!" Charumati's eyes filled with tears as she spoke and pressed a lingering kiss on her forehead.

Looking at her daughter for one last time, she strengthened herself and for the sake of her daughter, she left after making sure Drishti was hidden properly. As she took a look for a place to hide for herself, a soldier caught hold of her.

She lost all her might. She knew she would end up losing her unborn child and even her own life in a short while. But all she wished for was her daughter to be safe. At least one of the members of her family would be alive and safe.

And with that, she gave up.

The  ending I previously planned was different but I felt this one would be a little more of what would have actually happened.
