Rosekit couldn't stop thinking about the cats. She had so many questions- Why were they at the border? What will they do to ThunderClan?

None of her questions were answered. Suddenly, weight landed on her back, sending her crashing down. "Surprise!" Scarletkit yowled, purring happily.

"Get off me!" Rosekit growled playfully. "Because... I'm a big scary badger and I'll eat you up!"

"Oh no!" Scarletkit shrieked. "Badgers are attacking!" Quickly she leaped off, and Rosekit chased after her.

She suddenly realized the gnawing hunger inside her stomach. "Hey Scarletkit!" She called. "I'm going to go get a mouse, I'm starving!"

Scarletkit nodded in response, and padded up behind her. Rosekit snatched the biggest mouse she saw, and pulled it out.

Both sisters ate quickly, leaving no scraps behind. "Best mouse ever!" Scarletkit meowed.

Rosekit nodded in agreement. "Yeah."

Scarletkit saw a leaf fall from the sky, and chased after it. She quickly pounced on it, and Rosekit padded up behind her.

"I caught a mouse!" She squeaked, laughing.

"Your the best hunter ever!" Rosekit giggled, leaping at another leaf.

"Blazestar." Brightflower meowed. "These scents are coming up more and more often, and their going deeper into our territory."

Blazestar blinked worriedly and leaped on the high ledge. "Let all cats old enough to catch their own prey gather beneath the high ledge for a clan meeting!"

"Come on, time to go in." Dustsoul called to them. They both dashed to the nursery and poked their heads through the brambles, eager to see what was happening.

"The scents we are finding are increasing in numbers, and are going deeper into our territory. I will be increasing patrols tomorrow at sunrise."

The cats nodded in understanding, and Blazestar leaped off and headed to his den.

"Kits, it's time to go to sleep." Dustsoul purred, and set them in the nest.

"But I'm not tired!" Rosekit squeaked, while her sister yawned and drifted into sleep.

She heard voices, but couldn't hear what they were saying. Soon a battle cry echoed though the clearing, and she heard the pounding of pawsteps.
