"So you telling me that we just kidnapped a girl who was in the carpet bag of a rich couple?!" Peter yelled.

"Yep." Micky, Mike, and Peter said together.

"What if it's their kid?" Peter asked.

"Who keeps their child in a carpet bag?" Inquired Michael.

Peter smirked and shrugged. "No one I guess." He sat down for the first time sense they had arrived home.

"But Mick, what about the Doris'. Their bound to come home and see that us and the child are missing. They may be rich and mean, but they will put two and two together."

Micky sighed and frowned. He rested his chin on his fist. "I didn't think about that." He groaned. "Maybe they wont find us! They don't know where we live." Davy offered.

"True!" Micky said hopeful.

"But they could file a missing persons report and they know what we look like so they could tell the police and then we'd all go to jail." Mike added.

"Pessimist!" Micky groaned. "I don't wa—" The little girl pulled on his eight buttoned shirt. "Yes?" He leaned down to ask her. She opened her mouth and pointed to it. "Oh...your hungry."Micky said. The little girl nodded.

"Come to the kitchen and we'll get you something to eat." He took the child's tiny hand and led her to the counter. He hoisted her up onto the stool.

"What would you like?" He waited for her to respond. But she didn't. In fact she hadn't said a word the whole time. Micky had begun wondering if she was mute.

Micky opened the fridge and called out what he saw and then looked to her. He would say what they had and then she would nod if she wanted it, or shake her head no. Micky pulled out chocolate pudding, ham, chili, and a banana. He heated up the chili and ham and put it all on a plate. He handed it to the girl along with a fork. Micky leaned on the bar. He studied the girl. She was a mystery. What was her story? Why was she stuffed in a carpet bag? Where was she really from? These questions raced through Micky's mind.

Davy came up beside him.

"For real Micky, what are we going to do? We can't keep her. It was foolish to take her in the first place."

"We found her for a reason, and she needs us. Even if all we can offer her is a few days of kindness. We owe her this. We found her. We can't just send her back now!"

Davy put a hand on Micky's shoulder. "Maybe your right, Mick."

"I know I'm right." Micky smiles. Davy laughed and pushed Micky to the side. He went into the living room again and Micky was once again alone.

"So....what's your name?" Micky tried asking the girl. She just stared at him. Micky frowned. Then he had an idea. "Can you write?" He asked. She smiled and nodded. Micky dug in a drawer below the sink for a pad of paper and a pen.

"Here. Write your name on this."

The girl took the pen and scratched out the letters L.....A....N....I.

"Lani." Micky read the rough letters.

"Hello Lani. I'm Micky, and I'm gonna help you no matter what."
