# 4
The desk clerk dialed a number and waited. A second man appeared from a doorway behind the counter. He had the same no-nonsense look on his face as the younger man. He was wearing a suit and white gloves His hair-what little he had-was slicked back with gel . He starred at the Monkees, disgusted.
"What is it, James?" The suited man asked the man behind the desk.
"These...heathens...say that you hired them to play music."
The suited man looked offended.
"I did no such thingy. !"
"Then what were we hired for?" Peter asked.
"This is the Kaidenian Inn, right?" Mike inquired.
"Yes this is the Kaidenian. I should know, I own it." The man said angrily. "The only hiring I've done recently was cleaning related. I also hired a doorman from the same place."
"Oh." Mike said. "What company?"
"Rudy Lynch Inc. He said he'd have his workers here by this time today." The man aid looking down at his pocket watch. The Monkees all groaned loudly. Rudy had gotten them a job. A cleaning job.
"Rudy is our manager." Mike explained.
The man looked surprised. "You are the workers?"
"I guess so." Peter added.
"Then it's about time you showed up! Here follow me." He yelled at them . The boys followed the man into the back room.
"I asked for the cleaners and the doorman-" The man began. He wasn't able to finish because Peter called out from behind his friends.
"Doorman! I call doorman!"
"All right," said the man. "The blond one gets to be the doorman." He handed Peter a green doorman suit and began talking again. "The rest of you will be cleaners." He handed Mike, Micky, and Davy Maid outfits. The three boys looked them over silently and sneered at the dresses. They hated Rudy. He was probably sitting in his office having a good laugh about now.
"I'll leave you boys to get dressed." The man started to walk out.
"Wait!" Mike said. "You did say you only needed us for the weekend right?" Mike asked. The man nodded. Mike sighed with relief.
"Why only for the weekend?" Micky asked.
"We are housing very distinguished guest this weekend. They require extra room service and a doorman-something I'm sad to say we can't afford for longer than a week." A hint of an amused smile appeared on the man's face.
All I can think of is Micky dressed as Goldie locks. <3
