Chapter 15

After hearing about the attack on Haiti, Christopher was unable to stop his rage for Braith. He runs towards the main hall.
"I apologize for this commotion, nobles. I would request you all to make yourself comfortable in your chambers." Christopher said. He tried his best to make it sound like a request, but due to his anger his request sounded like an order.
The nobles walked in different directions towards their rooms.
"Stop," Christopher rudely intervened the guard who was dragging the Queen's mother. He went towards her, eyeing her with concern. Christopher coudn't deny the fact that she was of the same age like his mother.
Christopher glared at the guard, "leave."
The guard bowed in response. He and Lady Curzon were all alone in the hall now.

"I beg pardon, Lady Curzon," he says removing the shackles from her hands. She was astonished by his behaviour. First the king order's an attack, enslaves her and now their advisor feels sorry. This was all contradictory for the Lady.

"Royal Advisor you and this woman are called by the King."
Christopher recognizes the voice. He turns back and says, "Mark please, this needs to stop."

Mark was surprised by the sudden change in Christopher. He never pleaded before him.
"I can't do anything Christopher," he says and keeps his hand on Christopher's shoulder.
For the first time Christopher saw a hint of humanity in Mark's eyes. He felt joyful, but soon it died as Mark straightened himself and said, "Advisor! I said go with her, the King is calling."
Mark didn't dare to make an eyecontact with Christopher and turned to leave.
"What was that? Why did I felt sorry, this is wrong." Mark thought. He felt agitated by himself and left hastily.

Christopher led the Lady towards Braith room.

"You heard about the attack on Haiti, Victor."

Victor was standing in Caroline's room. He was playing with the ring in his index finger, a thing he used to do when he was deep in thought.

"Victor?" Caroline asked.

"I know, I've heard about that attack. These things are in our favor, Caroline," He says looking at her.

Caroline stands by the edge of the bed, "How can you say that?"

He looks at her with amusement in his eyes, "Your husband is busy handling the Haiti issue, he will not focus on us now."

"So are you going to use Margeret like you used Beth-"
Caroline was cut by Victor's hand on her mouth, "Shshh, do not bring the past, Caroline. The walls too have ears."
He removes his hand from her mouth and walks towards the oak table kept at the far end of Caroline's room.
"Braith thinks that the lord who lured Bethony is held behind the bars, but see Caroline" he says turning towards her and spreading his arms , "Am standing right here."

She smiles and wraps her arms around him, "I know, you blackmailed that man and got Bethony killed."
He chuckled, "You should be happy that you have your husband just for you now" he says looking down at Caroline while stroking her silky locks.

She sighs and pulls away from him, "What shall we do now, Victor?"

He stares at her for a minute and then speaks, "Let Braith play his game, I will pull my cards after that."

She smiles towards Victor and hugs him again. "I am worried. This needs to end immediately."

"I will make sure that this ends, so that we can live our lives peacefully." He says and kisses Caroline on her head.

*********
"You only have two options with you" Braith says while wiping away the blood from his neck.
Margeret was furious on him, "You expect me to listen to your options after all this misery you have caused in my life?"

"You are not a queen now. I have invaded Haiti, so talk with respect." He says glaring at the angry blonde standing before him. "My options are pretty simple. I am sure you will like them."

At the same time Christopher enters Braith's room with Margeret's mother.
"Mother!" Margeret exclaims and runs to hug her mother. Both mother and daughter hug each other tightly.

"I am going to kill you Braith!" A very angry Leo says while coming towards Braith. He was about to punch Braith when Mark holds his hand in midway and stands between Braith and Leo, "I tried to stop this General in the hallways, but to no avail." Mark says.

"You are a coward! If you think you are a man then combat with me in the battleground rather than attacking on our kingdom when we were out!" Leo shouts on Braith.

"Calm down General, I was talking with her" Braith says while looking at Margeret who was giving him a death glare.
"Mark, take him away," Braith says trying to keep his raging self calm.

"No, Leo will stay here" Margeret intervenes.
"Then your mother will go,Christopher take her out."
Christopher held a stern look on his face and wasn't ready to budge.

"I said take her out now!" Braith screams.
Christopher clenches his teeth and sighs in frustration. Bound to accept his orders Christopher took the Lady outside Braith's chamber.
Now there were only four people in the room-Braith, Mark, Leo and Margeret.
Braith walks towards his chair and sits on it, his one leg on the other with his hand resting on his knee.
"As I was saying, you have two options" he pauses for a second and then speaks, "Accept your life as a slave in my palace or leave and get ready to say goodbye to your mother."

"You have this audacity to place such an options before me! How dare you!" Margeret response was bursting with hatred and vehemence. She digged her nails in her palms due to her sudden outrage.

"We are not bou-"
"You have no say in this matter, General. One more word from your mouth and I won't hesitate to do something wrong, utterly wrong."

Leo reluctantly stopped, knowing Braith can cross his limits in no time, and will surely do what he just said. He punched the wall behind to loose his anger.

"I am not going to wait the entire day for your response Margeret." Braith says averting his gaze from Leo.
"You have an advantage if you choose the first option" he says smirking, "I will spare your kingdom. Your people will live a life of freedom, and if you agree with the second one it is guaranteed that you will never see your mother again as well as lose your freedom too. Think wisely because your decision is going to affect thousands of life, dear Margeret." Braith completes his sentence with a sinister smile.

Margeret had two paths in front of her. If she decides to go with the first, she will lose her royalty, her kingdom. "But I can give freedom to my subjects. They will get the privilage to live a life they have dreamt of. They won't worry every night about their independence. The freedom of my citizens is far more important than mine."
Without having a second thought Margeret says, "I am left to chose the first option then."

Braith smiles evilly at her response. "You are a wise lady, Margeret. Mark release her mother and send her and this general back to their kingdom."

"I will stay with Margeret." Leo says looking at Margeret, trying to explain her his decision with his eyes.

Braith raises an eyebrow. "I will accept this requst of yours, I am not that cruel." He says.

Margeret closes her eyes to stop the urge of slapping Braith again.
"I want solitude. You can leave now, I will tell you the rules and regulations tomorrow." Braith says.

Margeret leaves without glancing back. She opens the door to her room breathing heavily. She pushes the nightstand which led the glass of water fall down. She sat on the bed clasping the bedsheet in her fists. She let the tears she was holding back fall down her cheeks.
She felt a hand on her shoulder. The tears blurred her vision but she recognized the person.
"Why did you do this Leo? You should go with mother and ensure her's and the kingdom's safety." She says sniffing.
"And what about you, Margeret? I will not let you destroy your life like this." Leo says while sitting beside her.

"I will handle this situation by myself Leo." Margeret says wiping her tears with the back of her hand.

"No you can't Margeret. I am not saying that you are weak, but you will need someone by your side" Leo says with concern filled eyes. "This is a golden opportunity for you to avenge the death of your loved ones."

"How?"

"We can hurt him by knowing his weakness now. Living here will give us access to a lot's of things Margeret." Leo says.

"I get what you are trying to say Leo. But I don't trust him, there might be some reason behind allowing you to stay here." Margeret says while looking at Leo who furrowed his eyebrows on hearing Margeret's words.

"I know, but we have to take this risk. We will kill him in his own territory Margeret." Leo says with firm resolution.

"Yes, he has given an open invitation to his own destruction. Our real revenge will begin now, Leo." Margeret says smiling for the first time after the horrific events she had just witnessed.

Sorry for the late update, I am getting busy with my college now. *Sighs*
