Chapter 31 Endings
And it came to pass that Glorifrir did indeed choose to follow Gee, unintentionally leading many to follow him before he himself did. Gee kept his word and took Glorifrir swiftly and quietly.
Things in the fae grew bleak as each miracle the other dragons did in the human world took its toll. SueAnne was brought before the fae rulers to explain the happenings after Glory's passing and she explained the price of miracles as was set out by Gee.
"So you are saying the fae is dying because fae dragons are performing miracles?" one particularly upset leader shouted.
"This is correct," SueAnne said, "Now is the time for you to choose, as this world is dying and will come to an end when the last miracle is performed. Already the elderly are dying in response to lives being restored there. But if you choose the God of Gods today, he will not allow you to be taken that way and you will have life after your death.
"We are not supposed to have life after death," another old leader said, "That was why we were given long lives."
"I am only passing on the message given to me via the spirit and Gee," SueAnne said, "Now, I will give you a prayer to tell your people and you all can choose for yourselves what decision you wish to make. As for me and most of my house, we have chosen Gee..."
"What do you mean most of your house?"
"I can't follow him," Caspian admitted, "for me the price is too high. I would rather die and no nothing more. From what I am told, we fae are blessed like that, humans have no such luck. If they choose otherwise, they go to a place called hell."
"Unlucky humans," a old goblin said, "Anyway human drow, what is this prayer?"
SueAnne nodded, "I, (persons name) renounce this day the worship of the Goddess Aine and I choose to follow Gee and agree to suffer the price of accepting his death on the cross for all people's sins, human and fae. I ask you Gee that you will forgive me my sins. Amen."
"That is it?"
"That is it," SueAnne agreed.
"It does not seem too hard," the old goblin said, "What is the catch?"
"If you are older than 120 years you will die a painful death," SueAnne stated with tears in her eyes which started to fall, "I am sorry, but it is really painful for those that go through it."
Everyone nodded somberly, as they had heard of Garvan and Tyvans deaths.
The meeting was adjourned, and the leaders went back to their burrows and fields and told their people of it. About a quarter of the fae chose to follow Gee and suffered gruesome deaths, the young just aged up to their relevant age and from their aged slowly. The very young suffering not at all apart from rapid ageing compared to their fellow fae.
Within a period of 5 years the fae was a very different place to be. Those that had not died from changing their God, died from the miracle curse of dragons, the ground poisoned through almost all the fae. Only one burrow was still functioning, and surprisingly, or perhaps not, the burrow still functioning was the dwarven one where Kell and SueAnne were living.
The remaining fae moved there having no where else to go. Caspian and SueAnne's child ruled those that remained and lived to the maximum life expectancy given to a believer of Gee's. His child took over then.
Caspian died not long after Kell and SueAnne who died in their 80s having seen their great-great-grandchildren. All three were buried at the cave, despite the destruction around, that area remained a perfect pin prick, the tree and everything that its shade covered remained the way the fae was before. The area was too small to use so it soon was forgotten by time, known only to the kings of the burrow.
The fae and their Gods disappeared completely when the heavens and the earth were destroyed and remade according to the scriptures.
The end.
