Details On Catastrophe
This is the chappy you all have been waiting for. The details on the catastrophe. Again, thank you all for being such wonderful friends and keeping me and my friends in your prayers! I love you all!
Alright, enough stalling.
The friend who got hit by the paddle (I'm going to call her Ellie because I don't want to reveal her true name.) is able to email me. I emailed her saying hello and that I had gotten back from our cousin's house. (That's where we were. The rest of my friends, which is a youth group, were on a trip to a lake house.) Ellie emailed me back saying that they all had lots of fun, but chaos happened the last day. Previously, my bestEST friend, whom I will call Gabby, texted me saying that one of our friends (The one who hurt them both) had another outburst. (By the way, this friend, who I will call Riley, has some issues with lying and trying to get attention. She also has some anger issues. But we all give her love and God, because that's what she needs. However, she doesn't accept God.) I had asked Gabby what kind of outburst, but she hadn't replied. So I went to Ellie, but slowly eased into the conversation. That's when Ellie said that chaos happened the last day. I asked what kind of chaos, and she sent me a whole long email about what happened. Here is a summary.
(This is the whole story. Riley had started a grudge with Ellie and Gabby in the bus ride.) Ellie and Gabby noticed that Gabby and another friend of hers were watching really inappropriate videos. Gabby and Ellie told an adult, and it was quickly resolved. Riley didn't seem to mad, and soon things went back to normal. Fast forward to the last day. Riley started ripping pool noodles that weren't her's, and Gabby and Ellie told her to stop. Riley told them that they weren't the boss of her and continued to rip them. Gabby and Ellie did what they thought was best and left her alone. Later, Ellie and Gabby started swimming out to deeper waters. Ellie was using a mat to swim after Gabby, and Riley started following Ellie. Ellie didn't think too much of it, but started to when Riley grabbed her mat and held on. Ellie asked Riley nicely to let go, but Riley wouldn't. so Ellie called Gabby, who let Ellie hold on to her kayak. Later, Ellie was on the dock, along with Riley and another youngster. Riley started to corner Ellie and the little girl. The only way to get around was too jump into the deep water, and Ellie doesn't like doing that. The young girl went past Riley, who let her go. When Ellie tried to duck under the paddle that Riley had, however, Riley slammed the paddle down as hard as she could. It hit Ellie right below her neck, where her shoulders met her neck. Ellie cried out and fell onto the dock, while Riley didn't do anything. Ellie was so shocked and in pain that she started crying. Gabby, who was off the dock and on the grass, called to Ellie and asked if Riley had just hit her. (Gabby is the best friend anyone could have, in my opinion. She's very protective, but in a good way. She looks out for everyone.) Ellie could only nod her head, and that's when Gabby came over. She got onto the dock and tried to grab the paddle from Riley, but Riley wouldn't let her. Instead, she grabbed Gabby and threw her into the lake where the boat (which was taken by the majority of our youth group, including the pastor.) was supposed to be. There were pipes at the bottom, but there were also soft plants, so Gabby wasn't hurt when she landed. (Gabby being my best friend, reading this part scared me so badly that when I imagined it, I started shaking so hard that I had to stop reading for a moment.) By this time, another girl from our youth group had arrived and ran up to tell the adult who owned the lake house. Another girl had taken Ellie's hand and helped her up off the dock. Ellie was still in shock and crying. Gabby resurfaced and swam out to the deeper waters, challenging Riley to follow her. Gabby knew she was a stronger swimmer, and she was distracting Riley. The adult that owned the lake house came down and got Ellie and the other girl inside, but then the youth pastor arrived. He tried to talk to Riley, but Riley ran off. Gabby and Ellie both went inside, both crying. Gabby wasn't crying because she was hurt, mainly because she was upset. (Riley is her cousin.) The youth pastor told Riley's parents, and Riley and her younger sister had to stay later and wait for their parents to come drive them home. (This lake house was pretty far away.) The youth pastor has now made the rule that Riley cannot come to anymore youth trips and can't come to youth for a while.
You guys have to understand how SCARY this is. Riley tried to DROWN my best friend. Sorry, I'm kind of ranting now, but seriously. Reading the email and imagining how it all happened was probably the scariest thing my mind has done to me. It's scary even now. This happened Monday, guys. Monday. (I think.) I'm shaking even writing this now. I am imagining it again, and it's scary.
Thank you all for your prayers and comments. Keep in mind that we need to love Riley, even though she's done wrong. She needs God and love, and sometimes it's hard to give that to her because of how she can hurt people, but I don't intend to give up. She may have hurt me (verbally) and my friends, but I will try my best to give her what I can. Please keep praying for me and all of my friends. Love you all!!
