The Wilsons PT2
"You already paid for gas and tipped the waiter, Bri," Emme added. Brian just sighed in defeat and gave up. They again piled into the Chevy.
Mr. Thompson had parked in the drive way and been inside at this point.
"Hi Dad, we're home!" She called.
" Alright! Have fun, but not too much! Ethan's too young for that too. " He shouted, referring to Emme's twenty one year old brother at university to be a teacher. Emme and Brian blushed scarlet.
Dennis snickered. Carl was oblivious to the innuendo.
"Alright," responded the kids, unanimously. Dennis began to surf television programs with Carl, while Brian pulled Emme into the sitting room and sat the two of them on the piano bench.
He uncovered the keys and began to play a short little tune. It started off as something she recognized as The Four Freshmen, but as he progressed, she recognized it less and less.
Brian ended on a four part harmonic chord and beamed.
"Did you like it?" Brian asked, his tired blue eyes staring into hers. She but her lip and nodded. Brian let out a sigh of relief and hugged her.
Emme didn't check which ear she was whispering into before she breathed, "I love you, Bri."
"Do you really?" He wondered aloud. Her face, now dusted with red, nodded furiously. "I love you too, Em."
He tilted her chin up with his finger and kissed her. They had kissed before at parties, because of dares and even to curb some unwanted flirting, but this was a whole new experience, both parties acknowledging the kiss was of emotional significance. They both felt things during their other kisses, but not like this.
Just as they were separating themselves from the rest of the world, Emme's phone rang.
"Hi Emme, this is Mrs. Wilson, and I was just calling to see if the boys are okay." Audree explained.
"They're all set, ma'am, and welcome anytime." She replied. Since her mother had passed away two years prior, Audree had been like a mom to her. Her dad was a doctor at the hospital a few minutes away and made the money to support them and the Wilson boys whenever they were over.
"Thank you, Emme, and I'll see them after school on Monday," Mrs. Wilson whispered and hung up.
Emme and Brian found their way to the basement, more or less the boy's space and sat on the sofa, on which two guitars and a surf board leaned.
"So if we love each other, what are we?" Emme inquired .
"I don't know, but certainly not friends\
neighbors\sorta-siblings," Brian rambled about . He could over-complicate anything if he was worried enough. He'd always been a little anxious, but Emme helped pull him through.
"I guess I could be your girlfriend, but you'd have to break the news to your admirers," she teased.
" I have those? "He poked.
"Of course you do. You're Hawthorne High's star quarterback and a virtuoso," She shot. Brian blushed, even though she regularly complimented him.
"Okay, deal. Do you wanna go for a nice walk on the beach or in the park on Wednesday?" He stuttered .
"That sounds nice, Brian." Emme sighed.
Late that night, sobs echoed through the basement. Brian, Dennis and Emme were trying to console Carl.
"I'm scared to go back home because he'll be there," Carl cried. Emme wrapped him in a comforting embrace and whispered soothing thoughts to him. Carl's tears had since slowed, but he continued to sniffle.
The next morning, the boys woke upon the thick rug in a big comforter. Emme and her father were in the kitchen frying bacon and eggs and flipping pancakes.
"Good morning sleepy heads," Emme cooed, kissing Brian on the top of his head. " Breakfast is ready, and you need to be ready for the beach in half an hour. We made a picnic. "
The Wilsons got into swim shorts, Brian and Dennis into pendletons, and Carl into a hand-me -down sweatshirt. Emme knocked on the door, beach bag on her shoulder and a white dress covering her black and white polka-dotted bikini.
Denny carried his surfboard and strapped it on Mr. Thompson's station wagon.Brian had a few books and his guitar, and Carl had very similar things in tow.
As everything and everyone got crammed into the vehicle, James(Emme's Dad) started the car. Within fifteen minutes, they were at the fairly clear beach.
"I have some sunblock and an umbrella, so help yourselves," Emme threw into the discussion about surfing between Denny and a girl she vaguely recognized from school. She was making goo-goo eyes at him and practically drooling into the sand.
The girl offered to get her tandem board so they could surf together.
"Denny, Dad said no more girls for a while," Carl whispered .
"Then what's Emme?" He sassed back.
" My girl and the daughter of the person temporarily feeding and housing us, " Brian announced proudly.
"And he said no girls for you, Denny ," Carl whispered yet again. Thank goodness for Carl. Emme spread sunblock on each of their noses, making them scrunch up their faces.
"That's frigid Em, did you put it in the cooler?" A shocked Dennis almost shouted. Emme giggled and began to apply her sunblock . Brian was out of his pendleton and in a white tee. Dennis was headed to the water and Carl sat reading a book.
It was only September, but Emme had already had her birthday, so she and Brian were both sixteen, making Dennis fourteen and Carl twelve.
"Hey Wilsons and Emme!" Mike Love shouted across the beach. Brian waved and Emme smiled. She knew Mike from some family gatherings Brian had needed to escape from. He'd always been there and tagged along.
"We finally got together, Mikey, do you believe it?" Brian beamed.
" I know you've liked her for a while now, so congrats. " Mike grinned. Emme raised an eyebrow at him.
They enjoyed their day at the beach and headed home shortly after the sunset.
The alarm went off and the boys threw on khaki shorts and button ups for church. Emme and Brian both wore a peachy orange color, Dennis wore blue and Carl dressed in purple.
They again piled into the station wagon, but church bound. They sat in the pew and half listened to the sermon, hoping for it to end so they could get lunch and take a drive around town. The closing hymn began to play, Brian picked a harmony and sang along.
"Goodbye, and have a blessed week!" The pastor beamed. The congregation began to file out of the church and into their cars.
Emme's dad arrived at their home and headed straight for the kitchen. He got out spaghetti noodles, marinara sauce and salad stuff.
"Can one of you fix this salad for me?" Mr. Thompson pleaded.
The boys ran in and decided Dennis should do it. The kids all smiled, thoroughly enjoying every moment away. The food was plated and immediately devoured.
The rest of the day was spent playing music and rising through the streets I'm Brian's Chevy. At around eight, they turned in for the night.
Emme's alarm screamed at her to get up for school, and she slowly complied.
The bus arrived across the street to pick David up.
"I'm glad I have a sweet boyfriend to drive me to school," Emme sighed. Brian blushed and drive them to school.
Brian found his brothers waiting on the curb outside the school, waiting for them. Carl had time to walk across the street from the junior high school, and was looking rather annoyed. Denny was preoccupied staring at another girl. They proceeded to usher him on and after a few minutes, they climbed into the car.
Brian started to breathe slightly heavier as they neared the two neighboring driveways.
"I'll go in with you all if you want," Emme cooed. They nodded unanimously. Brian looked to be on the verge of a panic attack, and Carl hugged onto Dennis as they climbed the porch steps.
A:N and that's it for this segment, if you want more Brian and Emme, let me know, although it'll probably happen anyway. Happy Wattpadding, until we meet again!
