Background: Cake was a very upbeat and positive person when in High School as well as before that. One day she befriended a new student and they became a couple a few months after they met. Once graduated, Cake worked at a well paying job that allowed her to pay off most of what she owned. Cake soon after discovered her love of writing and got a book published, however the book wasn't very popular and didn't make much money, though Cake didn't mind that much. Eventually Cake noticed changes in her boyfriend's behavior and when she asked him about it he became very violent.

One day she went to apologize for an argument they had and after she did he pulled a knife on her and continuously cut her back. They broke up on the spot (needless to say). Her ex constantly carries a knife on him for if they happen to see each other in the streets, so he can open more wounds. Cake is unable to call the police because he had threatened to kill her parents and sister if she did so, and knowing what kind of man he was, Cake knew he would do it. Cake lost most of the positivity she used to have after this experience. Eventually her cousin Pie came to live with her, to make sure that Cake was well taken care of.

Cake began writing Mario Fan fiction after her cousin convinced her to try it out. Cake practically became addicted to the Mario Universe, especially the characters and story from the one Mario game she owned: Super Paper Mario. Eventually Cake befriended a magical Hyrule Historian, though she didn't know it at the time, and the Historian connected the version of the Mario World from Cake's writings to Cake's world. Allowing the characters to come and go as they pleased. Cake's first encounter with these characters happened to be the insane jester known as Dimentio.

Background: Cathrine was given the nickname Cake because she had a habit of wearing a candle on her head or icing in her hair, which constantly gets her deemed as a crazy weirdo. Cathrine mostly keeps her past unknown because she doesn't want anyone judging her based on how she used to act and would much rather them judge her based on the present. Cathrine lived outside the Mushroom Kingdom most of her life, only moving in a year ago. She is roommates with a ghost named Leah and constantly does her best to help the ghost with her self esteem. Once before she moved into the Mushroom Kingdom, she had met a jester who introduced himself as Dimentio. She allowed him to take shelter with her for a few days as he looked as if he had just crawled out of the Underwhere (You don't say.). She was never informed of the jester's role in the Chaos Heart incident and was charmed by the way he talked and acted. Even though she rarely thinks back to anytime before she moved to the Mushroom Kingdom, she smiles when she remembered him.

Well look what I finally did. These are the two most used versions of this character, however there are other versions of this character as well that you probably aren't going to be hearing about, mostly because they are from AUs.
