Chapter Two
"Who are you?" Rainpaw asked cautiously. She had already been in a battle once today, and she didn't want to start another one.
"My name does not matter right now. I've been watching you in battle, and I can tell your already great at it. But would you like to improve?" The cat asked.
Rainpaw nodded. "I guess... sure." she responded nervously. The cat grinned. There was something unusual about her grin.. something dark. Then she headed toward a dipped-in bloodstained sandy hollow, beckoning Rainpaw to follow. Slowly she did, still cautious about the strange cat.
"Alright," The cat said. "Attack me." Rainpaw did as she said and leaped at her, but the cat saw it conming and back flipped and kicked Rainpaw with her hind paws in mid air. She went flying back and landed in the sand. Feeling a horrible pain on her stomach, she looked down to see large claw marks.
"Hey!" she yowled. "What was .that for! Your claws are unsheathed!" Rainpaw yowled at her.
The cat smiled. "Only kittypets train with claws sheathed!" She responded.
Rainpaw stood up and shook out her pelt, her anger growing. "You want to train with claws unsheathed? Then so be it."
Rainpaw leaped again, then dodged down as the cat swiped a paw an her. She tried her best to ignore the searing pain from her fresh wounds. Rainpaw slashed her face and jumped squarely on her back, pinning her.
"Impressive!" The cat complemented. "But will you be ready for this?" Suddenly she rolled on her back, making Rainpaw loose balance and fall
Off. She quickly scurried away before the cat could attack.
As the cat got up, she leaped for Rainpaw and slashed her flank, leaving deep marks. Rainpaw howled in pain, but she wasn't ready to give up yet. As the cat leaped again, Rainpaw slashed her face with a swift paw.
The cat stepped back. "Impressive. Very Impressive." She grinned. "You will return here tomorrow, and we shall train some more." Rainpaw nodded. "Okay!"
Suddenly Rainpaw was in her nest. She looked down at her flank, which was surprisingly still stinging. The claw marks were still there. So were the ones on her stomach. But I thought it was just a dream! She thought, gasping at the wounds. She had to make an excuse. They couldn't find out.
Slowly, she sneaked out of the apprentice den. No one in the clearing. So she darted out. Rainpaw headed for the NightClan border, hoping to get some of the scent on her is it seems she was attacked by one of their cats.
When she entered camp again, there where gasps of shock. "Rainpaw! What happened?!" Nightflare, the deputy said. "Eaglepaw and his mouse-brained mentor Darkspirit happened." She growled.
Many pelts bristled. "They don't call him Darkspirit for nothing!" Morningsun, one of the elders hissed.
I did it! I actually got away with it! She thought. But what about next time? I won't be able to disguise it.. or will I?
