A story:

It was 1910 in the cold, harsh winter in the state of Pennsylvania, and a massive snow storm was overhead. A woman was onboard a train with her baby heading to a station in New Jersey to meet with some friends. When the woman got on, she asked the conductor if she would come and tell her when they got to the station she needed to go and the conductor looked at her and said "Certainly ma'am, you have my word that I will not forget". An hour went by and the woman ask the conductor again to make sure he didn't forget, and the conductor said "Of course ma'am, as I told you earlier, you have my word". Not long after the conductor left into another train car, a salesman who was sitting beside her said "Ma'am, the conductors here are often times forgetful because they are so busy, I have ridden this train many times and I know the station you are going to, it's three stops away," he looked out the window, which was covered with frost, then he looked back at the woman and said "I will tell you when the train is at your stop". Not long later, the train made a third stop and the salesman told the woman "Ma'am, this is your stop". She got up with her baby in her arms, grabbed her bag, and went to the door. She began to believe that the conductor had forgotten her, he hadn't even come to open the door, but then she left and a moment later the train went on. Thirty minutes later the train stopped and the conductor came to the train car the woman had been in and said "I could have sworn she wanted me to tell her when we got to her stop", then the salesman approached the conductor and said "You forgot her, so I helped her off at the last stop, the stop she wanted to stop at". The conductor was infuriated, and he told the salesman "You fool! This is the stop she was going to, and that last stop was an emergency stop! You just let her walk out into the wild where there is no civilization for miles!". The conductor had the train go back to the place where the woman got off at, he sent a search party out to find her, and fifteen minutes later she was found. The woman had been found frozen and dead with her baby dead in her arms.
