Pub Chatter 6th Edition - November 15, 2020

Message from Bill

Well another year over and its time to, once again, go into our biggest challenge of the year, the 'Poet of the Year' contest. From the looks of the list of those who have qualified, it is going to be quite a competition.

Want to thank all of those who competed in competitions, all year long and to those who qualified, I wish you all the best in this competition.

To ensure your best chance of winning the POY, be sure to put your best foot forward and remember those who supported you. Be sure to answer all the comments made on your poems and gets many of your followers involved as possible. Their involvement, in reads votes and comments, could play a part in the final outcome in the challenge. Be respectful, inspirational and encouraging to the other Poets, because, even though this is a competition, we are all one family here. A family of poets called Pubbers. A family of Poets who call the Poets Pub home.

I want to thank everyone for a successful year here at the Pub. I know, for many, it has been a trying year and I hope, in some way, the Poets Pub has offered some solitude for each and every one of you.

Good luck to all the finalists in the POY.

Bill

Founders Challenge #4

I am putting this challenge on hold for now, as I was not able to decide on a winner for this contest. I will discuss with Myna as to what direction we want to take for this challenge. We will post further instructions, as soon as the decision is made.

Poet of the Year

The final list is now set for the 'Poet of the Year' contest, but as I do every year, I am sending out a personal request for a special poet, to join in the competition.

lyttlejoe

This amazing Poet and supporter has been the cornerstone of the Poets Pub, from the very beginning. He is the best known and best loved Poet in the Pub and is a true legend of the Pub.

I know he is probably saying ... NO ... but, my friend, as the very first POY winner, I would love for you to be a active competitor in this year's competition, especially since this is our 5th year.

Bill

Busted Gulch Vol. 14 Update:

Bruce and his men rode back into town, 3Gun had a chat with them in the Saloon.  He got the low down on what happened at Dead Pool and asked if they knew anything about Ewell and Wellman as well as Dunn and Dusted but it didn't seem that they knew anything. Bruce offered up help if 3Gun needed it.  Jacob continued to help Mary Sue back to her room trying to convince her to stop drinking for the night.  In the midst of all of this a woman showed up calling out Jacob.  Jacob recognized her as Sallie McClain, she said that Jacob had promised to marry her and that she was carrying his child.  CG was out visiting Lou's grave when Elwell and crew showed up and took her hostage, locking her in a trunk and driving away.  No one knows she has been taken.

November Contest/Founder's Challenge –

This is not, just another Winter's Tale
By NehpetsEnal

Fresh and white, the world was a glittering ball.
Beneath that white crystal lattice, all my demons lay buried, freeing my soul.
It was a time to cherish and a season to be merry.
Everything was rosy, who would think it would soon become scary.
But the wheel turns quickly, how soon the seasons change.
The New Year and the thaw arrived, for ice, life-giving freshwater droplets are a fair exchange.
It is that time, the annual reincarnation will ensue.
Fields once fallow, now rejoice, filled with smiling faces of lilac and yellow.
Hands and feet are still cold as winter flees.
In the garden, there's work to be done, the pruning of bushes and trees.
With bent back and aching knees, the vision of beauty becomes a blur.
My stubbornness is legendary, I would ignore it, that was for sure.
Each step is fraught with danger, as like a drunk I stumble.
The garden path now has twists and turns, previously unseen, under my breath, I grumble, for
With a simple doorknob, I fumble
The world I knew so well, is a now a jumble
With muddied boots, up steps and into the house I tumbled
Where on the welcoming sofa, my wasted body crumbled
I lay there undisturbed and unperturbed for hours without medical attention
With my usual self-denial, it was classified as just another funny turn and would have passed without a mention.
Luckily for me, my family showed more concern.
All I ask is that from these words you learn, do not just lay there, and burn
Do not hesitate to push the emergency button on your phone if you have a 'Funny Turn'.

F/N: This important issue I may seem to trivialise, but that is who I am, but please take this seriously, as it is a poem written from a life-threatening personal experience.

Doing this could save yours or the life of someone you love, or a stranger, for they all matter.

Time sure flies when you are having fun!!! I can hardly believe we are coming up on the end of another year.  I think all of us will agree we are not going to be to sad to see this crazy year end, LOL!! I have to say I am so grateful for the Pub and all of you for providing such a bright spot in this dark year!! I hope everyone has a FANTASTIC WEEK!!

And remember to keep those pens and keyboards flying!!

Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
