A Friend's Greeting
By Edgar Guest

I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me;
I'd like to be the help that you've been
always glad to be;
I'd like to mean as much to you
each minute of the day
As you have meant, old friend of mine,
to me along the way.

I'd like to do the big things
and the splendid things for you,
To brush the gray out of your skies
and leave them only blue;
I'd like to say the kindly things
that I so oft have heard,
And feel that I could rouse your soul
the way that mine you've stirred.

I'd like to give back the joy
that you have given me,
Yet that were wishing you a need
I hope will never be;
I'd like to make you feel
as rich as I, who travel on
Undaunted in the darkest hours
with you to lean upon.

I'm wishing at this Christmas time
that I could but repay
A portion of the gladness
that you've strewn along the way;
And could I have one wish this year,
this only would it be:
I'd like to be the sort of friend
that you have been to me.

Busted Gulch Vol. 14 Update:

Sallie the goat escaped and Bella went in search for her. Upon her search, she heard voices and had to get a closer look. When Bella did, Ewell and his men kidnapped her and shoved her in the trunk with CG. Billy and 3Gun went after William at his warehouse in Tent City but came face to face with another battle. 3Gun asked William where CG was but that didn't end well with him. The battle ended with William being shot and two of his men. Sallie tried to get Jacob to play her games but he wasn't having it. When Josie saw her, she wanted to cry. Sallie spewed more lies towards the girl and Josie didnt think any of it was true. The pregnant woman said some things to Jacob that played with his fears. He knew that he needed to figure out a way to get her to leave BG.

Thank you for the Busted Gulch MysteriousDryad!

The Year
By Ella Wheeler Wilcox

What can be said in New Year rhymes,
That's not been said a thousand times?

The new years come, the old years go,
We know we dream, we dream we know.

We rise up laughing with the light,
We lie down weeping with the night.

We hug the world until it stings,
We curse it then and sigh for wings.

We live, we love, we woo, we wed,
We wreathe our brides, we sheet our dead.

We laugh, we weep, we hope, we fear,
And that's the burden of the year.

Can you hear them folks?  Can you hear the jingle bells!!! Christmas lights are going up, trees are being decorated and little ones are writing their letters to Santa!! It is a time to spread joy to all with abandon!! Joy and cheer are absolutely free and infinite, share it with those around you, check on people you know and make sure they are okay, lend a helping hand, a kind word can change someone's day!! Embrace the spirit of giving and let it grow within you!!

And remember to keep those pens and keyboards flying!!

Cheers from you Mystres of Chatter
