Pub Chatter 6th Edition - April 5, 2020
A Message from Bill -
As the world continues to be devastated by its greatest enemy ever, we all seek to find solace in our lives. That something that will erase what is happening around us and take us to a place where we find peace and serenity.
A place to escape.
I like to think that the Poets Pub is such a place. Here we have always offered a safe place for Poets from all over the world. We have always presented an environment of non discrimination and encouragement. As we will always do so.
We are truly a global family here at the Pub and we have come together in this moment of crisis and opened our arms and hearts to our brothers and sisters from all over the world.
Through the magic of Poetry, we have an unique opportunity to express ourselves and to offer love and hope to those members of our family, now facing isolation and uncertainty.
With that in mind, I am asking every single member of the Pub to send in your message of hope, so that we can share it with all the members of our family. Write a poem or just a short message to offer strength and support to those members of our family who need it.
Let's spread the love and the message that the Poets Pub is a true global family and a family that loves and supports all members of its family.
As one of those people who is in isolation, I have found some peace and escape here on Wattpad and especially here at the Poets Pub.
My heart, my prayers and my love goes out to each and every one of my Pub family. Stay healthy and safe and remember ...
We're all in the Together.

A Message from Myna –
HELLO!! All you amazing wordsmiths!! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!!
One of my personal goals for the Pub this year has been to be more organized. To achieve said goal, I decided to choose a theme and poetry form to feature each month. My thought was I could tie the theme and poetry form into the monthly contests, the Chatter, poetry prompts, and Poem-a-Week. So far, for me anyway, it has been working well! And I sincerely hope you all are enjoying my controlled chaos.
However, I tell you all of this for two reasons. First, this month's featured poetry form is "Found Poetry", a form I was not familiar with until it was brought to my attention by one of our newer Pub members and our 2019 Poet of the Year, Gadralneure . He has graciously agreed to share his knowledge of found poetry with us this month. As such, this month's 4-part Poetry Form article has been written by Gadralneure. He has a collection of Found Poetry on his profile and will be referencing it though out the month. If you are interested in checking it out, you can find it here:
The second reason I bring all of this up is, I will be consolidating all of these poetry articles and adding them to our "With Style: Poetry" collection. I figured it would be easier to find them if they were all together in one place and if you would like to add to this particular collection you are more than welcome to do so.
And now back to our regularly scheduled program!
First Men on the Moon
By J. Patrick Lewis
"The Eagle has landed!" —Apollo II Commander Neil A. Armstrong
"A magnificent desolation!" — Air Force Colonel Edwin E. "Buzz" Aldrin, Jr.
July 20, 1969
That afternoon in mid-July,
Two pilgrims watched from distant space
The moon ballooning in the sky.
They rose to meet it face-to-face.
Their spidery spaceship, Eagle, dropped
Down gently on the lunar sand.
And when the module's engines stopped,
Rapt silence fell across the land.
The first man down the ladder, Neil,
Spoke words that we remember now—
"One small step..." It made us feel
As if we were there too, somehow.
When Neil planted the flag and Buzz
Collected lunar rocks and dust,
They hopped like kangaroos because
Of gravity. Or wanderlust?
A quarter million miles away,
One small blue planet watched in awe.
And no one who was there that day
Will soon forget the sight they saw.

New and Ongoing Works -
I am inviting all members of the Poets Pub to become part of an unique collection.
We're all in this Together is a song lyric I have started and I am inviting everyone to pop over to my site @BillTemple1957 and add your very own verse (or two or three) to this collection. My goal is to fill a collection with 200 verses which will surely make it the longest song ever written.
In this moment in the world's history, we surely have to all come together, because for the first time ever ...
"We ARE all in this Together."

Found Poetry Pt 1 - By Gadralneure
Found poetry is created by using existing written sources; letters, newspaper articles, diaries, transcripts, interviews, advertisements, etc.
The poet selects these sources and edits them into a poem by gleaning phrases and providing a structure and punctuation to produce a work that conveys a deeper meaning hidden within the text. The completed piece is like a literary collage. Words, sentences, and paragraphs can be dropped to shape the poem and punctuations may be added, however no words are added, the poem is constructed from the actual text only. The resulting poem may be almost verbatim to the original document or a hundred words out of several thousand.
The source document can be from any time period, from very old to very recent. I prefer older sources, when letter writing was an art form in itself and the language was a bit archaic and Byzantine, but found poetry is limitless in its sources. It can be created from anything; Twitter feed, E-Mail, Trump campaign speeches. It is only limited by the poet's imagination.
These poems provide an insight into the human condition. The results can be humorous, sad, insightful, ironic, or even profound.
The following is an example of a found poem gleaned from a letter written to Charles Darwin. The original correspondence was 4 pages long.
Butterflies & Silverfish
By Gadralneure
A found poem (Letter from W.D. Fox to Charles Darwin, May 8th, 1874)
Butterflies and moths,
preserved in a book,
the great desire of his heart.
But alas!
The poor butterflies
lose a sad deal,
luster and beauty.
I have outlived almost all.
I have remembrances about me,
old-age encreeping upon me,
I had looked for its approval,
but it comes in leaps.
Does it not seem strange
how old we get?
Seems but a few years
since we were lads,
young and foolish.
How such a mind
could care for silverfish.
Do you remember Brachemis Crepitans
and our delight in finding it?
I have never seen it since,
until I saw death.
Those were the days I rejoice.
