Mission 6

"I know I said we'd do shoes tomorrow, but-" "Polly I've got some questions." "Okay?" "What does it mean if you feel like leak- I mean crying?" "It means you're sad wh-" "What about if you feel like you're gonna explode? If you get hot and you want hurt someone?" I wasn't sure why I skipped over the thing in the hallway with Josh.

"You were angry. What made you angry and sad? You should be happy here!" "What shoe size do you think I have?" I asked, changing the subject. I didn't want them to think I only joined because I was threatened. I wasn't sure why. "Probably a four or a five. Maybe a six?"

Polly replied, easily distracted. I tried on three different shoes and found that I was indeed a six. I ended up with three pars of tennis shoes, two pairs of flats, and one pair of very short wedges, because Polly insisted.

"You need pajamas. What are you interested in?" "Interested in? Wh-" "like, forexampleIhaveunicorns,

"Let me stop you right there. I despise unicorns, flowers, rainbows, hearts, and stars. Also, what is, Hello-Kitty?" Polly held up a pair of disgustingly pink pajamas, and I shook my head. "There's something wrong with that cat, but I can't put my finger on it."

Polly sighed. "Fine. I have a black tank top and shorts, and gray sweatpants you can use. "That's more like it. Now Polly, I have to tell you something." "What?" "I'm a part of your team now!" "What! Really? Yay!" Polly started to jump up and down, expecting me to do so as well. I looked at her funny, and she stopped.

"Sorry." She looked awkward. Finally after a silence, she asked, "You don't do that?" "No." "You're like Liv then." "I am not like Olivia in any way!" "Yes you are. Liv never gets excited. "That doesn't mean-" Someone knocked on the door, interrupting me, and I opened it to find Emil.

"What do you want?" I asked rudely, upset about the Olivia thing. "Polly asked me to bring the paint and carpet samples." I looked questioningly back at Polly. "Yup! I figured we could pick tonight, and start painting tomorrow." she answered cheerfully as usual.

It took a few hours, as Polly said I couldn't color both my walls and carpet black. I decided to change the carpet to white instead of lime green, and paint the walls lavender instead of evergreen. With a black lace pattern of course. "Okay. I'll bring the paint tomorrow." Polly said, leaving the door ajar and skipping down the hall.

"Wait!" Polly!" "Yes?", she asked, skipping backwards back into my room. "What am I supposed to do now?" "Well, it's..." she glanced at her watch. "Its ten o' two, so probably sleeping?" I had read about sleeping, but never done it.

"Oh..." "Is there a problem with sleeping?" "N-no!" I stuttered. Polly looked at me funny, and I stared back at her. "Oh! I get it! You're scared to sleep in a new place!" I'm not scared! I just don't know hoooooo-oops." I cried in annoyance.

Polly laughed. "Well you get under the covers-" "I know that part!" I snapped, a little bit angry at myself, for blurting. "Then you lay really really still, and close your eyes. I proceeded to follow her directions. "What do I do now?" "Nothing." Polly said, laughing again.

"This seems to have put me in a vulnerable position." "Well yeah! You're sleeping. it's fine no one will hurt you in here." "Oh. I have never been in a vulnerable position before." "Really? How much coffee do you drink?!"

I ignored her question, and heard Polly close the door. I listened to the doors opening and closing in the hall, and the owl outside of my window.

~Dedicated to my good friend Grayp002, for the great character Polly~
