Chapter 8 (Part 3)

Vangelle locks eyes with Oliver, Josephine, and Gregory, her gaze mirroring her slight concern. Despite not knowing what to do at first, Vangelle hastens to a desk in the hall and grasps a thick tome. While Oliver, Josephine, and Gregory glance at each other, wondering if Vangelle is a threat, Vangelle hurriedly flips the pages of the book and faces them.

"A Nocerettus Ta!" Vangelle shouted, casting an unexpected hex upon Oliver.

In response to the spell, Oliver's body collapses as he groans in pain. It feels like knives are puncturing his skin, slicing him open. Misery flows over Oliver as he fights the pain to no avail. Gritting his teeth, Oliver glares at Vangelle as he forces himself to rise. However, he fails to do so as he kneels on the floor, succumbing to the agony.

Recognizing the threat, Gregory charges towards Vangelle and points his sceptre towards her, ready to cast a countering spell against her. Gregory furrows his eyebrows and tightens his lips, preparing himself for the battle. But, Vangelle is quick to see Gregory hurrying towards her. Swiftly, she turns towards him and casts a curse upon him.

"Dolor Vitt Soper Ta!" she chanted as her voice trembled with adrenaline.

Before Gregory could even lift his tongue to chant a counterattack, he fell to the floor and dropped his sceptre. He grunted in pain as his eyes winced, battling the unbearable ache in his muscles. Gregory clenched his teeth and fists as he attempted to overcome the spell. However, he struggled to stand up and fell back to the ground.

Swiftly, Josephine lurched towards Vangelle. As she reached her, Josephine grabbed Vangelle's wrists, trying to shake off the book from her hands. Vangelle fought back, shoving Josephine to the side.

Josephine plummeted to the ground, hitting a wooden chair. As she recovered from the offence, she grabbed the chair and charged towards Vangelle. Then, she struck Vangelle with the chair, causing it to split apart. A sharp gasp streamed through Vangelle's lips as she flinched, stunned by the pain that hit her head.

Inadvertently, Vangelle dropped the spellbook, and the curse that once tormented Oliver and Gregory dissipated. Quickly, Oliver and Gregory rose, shaking their heads as they healed from the attack. But, before they could move forward, Vangelle grabbed the tome and slammed it against Josephine's face, causing her to tumble. Vangelle then flicked the book open and cast yet another spell against Oliver and Gregory.

"Freilnus Vobis!" Vangelle yelled, straining her voice.

Oliver and Gregory fall back to the ground, their knees hitting the polished floor. They grunt in pain as they grit their teeth. Their heads feel like exploding from the pressure, and their core feels like splintering apart.

Swift from recovering, Josephine stands up and slaps the spellbook from Vangelle's hands like a volleyball. The searing pain that once agonizes Oliver and Gregory immediately disperses as they glance at each other in confusion. Vangelle quickly falls to her knees and attempts to clutch the book. However, before her fingers can touch the cover, Josephine pulls her hair and drags her away, thwarting her process of retrieving the book.

"Agh!" Vangelle yelped, screaming in pain and rage.

As Josephine pulls Vangelle's hair and drags her away, Vangelle clasps Josephine's ankle and pushes it to the side. Josephine falls over, and her head hits the wall, knocking her unconscious. Vangelle hastily crawls towards the fallen spellbook and flips it open, casting another spell before Oliver and Gregory reach her.

"Dolor Tibus!" she chanted, casting a powerful hex.

"Ugh!"

A stinging pain stabs through Oliver and Gregory's beings, causing them to collapse. They jerk back as they pant excessively. They cannot stand up anymore, for the curse is too much to bear. Meanwhile, Vangelle stands up, her gaze locked on Oliver and Gregory, as she continues afflicting pain upon them.

"Lutderum vi dolor opon to. Lutderum vi miserio a tar loscuer. To wul hagus heridus!" Vangelle muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.

In the meantime, Josephine wakes up. She immediately spots Vangelle tormenting Oliver and Gregory. Hastily, Josephine pushes herself to stand up and grabs a plank from the broken chair.

As Vangelle continues with her spell, an excruciating pain strikes the back of her head, causing her to drop the spellbook. Josephine quickly kicks the tome away, disarming Vangelle. Grunting, Josephine lunges towards Vangelle from the back and pushes her to the ground. Furiously, using the wooden plank of the broken chair, she pins Vangelle's throat.

Moaning in pain, Vangelle closes her eyes, and as she opens her eyelids, her gaze meets Oliver and Gregory, both standing before her. Sweating profusely, Oliver and Gregory pant as their stern glares bear weight upon Vangelle. With a sense of victory coursing through Oliver, Josephine, and Gregory, they exchange triumphant smirks that can bring anyone to submission.
