First Impressions

"Nice to meet you, Emily..." His handsome chocolate eyes were looking at me mysteriously shinning.

What's with him? Creepy is surely the right word for him. Creepily handsome that is.

"You there?"

Huh?

I realized I had spaced out again. I looked away trying to hide the pink blush that had probably crept up my face.

"You space out a lot you know." Said Scott laughing at me. There was something about his laughter that was very genuine. He didn't seem like the creepy stranger I saw in the pub. He had changed completely.

Scott looked at me and stopped laughing. His deep chocolate brown eyes bore into mine. His eyes soften and he smiled. I realized I had been staring at him the whole time!

He chuckled as I quickly looked away. "Come on Em." He said holding my hand. "Let's get you some warm clothes."

His touch send shivers up my arm. For some reason I decided to trust him. Well what choice did I had anyway.

Scott led me down a dirt road, towards a small forest, away from the town. I tensed as we got near the forest. It looked dark and creepy. For a moment I stopped in my tracks.

Should I really go? I could just run back to the pub and then call my mother.

Scott seemed to notice my hesitation.

You idiot you've been standing still for like forever! Who's wouldn't notice? My subconscious snapped at me.

"Don't worry," he said in a soft, calm tone. "I won't harm you."

I nodded and followed him. I kept looking back at the town. It soon disappeared behind the trees. The forest was thick. One could not see what was a meter ahead of them.

"Do you live here?" I asked, wanting to stop thinking of bizarre ways the handsome young boy could kill me.

"Kind of." He said smiling at me.

"What are you; a wood-cutter?"

Scott laughed out loud. "You're pretty amusing you know."

I blushed and decided to shut my mouth for the rest of the way. We kept on walking and walking. What kind of person would live here?

"Here we are!" Scott suddenly stopped. Off course he hadn't warned me before stopping and as a result I bumped right into him. Scott lost his balance and fell from the log he was standing on.

"Sorry!" I got on the log to get a good view of him. Scott had fell in a puddle of mud. I quickly jumped down and helped him up.

As soon as I saw his face, I burst into fits of laughter. His face was covered in mud! I tried to calm down and stop but it was of no use. I couldn't see his facial expression as the mud acted as a mask.

"Sorry, sorry." I said trying to breath. "Let me help you." I didn't have a tissue or anything else so I just removed the mud with my bare hands. And to my surprise, Scott was smiling. His eyes were full of adoration.

"What?" I asked, confused at the young man's changing behaviours.

He shook his head. "Nothing."

I removed some more mud and wiped it off on his shirt. "Hey!" Scott complained.

"What? It's already dirty. A little more mud won't do any harm!" I said defensively. I was really enjoying it.

"Oh yeah?" Scott scooped up a handful of mud and rubbed it on my face.

"What the heck?!" I screamed and charged towards him. And thus began our mud fight. After what seemed like forever, both of us were sitting on the log, covered in mud from head to toe, laughing out heads off.

Scott took a deep breath and let out a heavy sigh. "I don't remember the last time I had so much fun."

"Me neither." I said, remembering everything that had happened back in California.

"Hey. Hey. Don't space out again!" He said grinning at me.

"Woops. Sorry." I grinned back.

"So is this where you live?" I asked motioning towards the log.

"Nah!"

Damn that was cute!

Scott got up and stood besides the giant leaves in front of us.

"Come on!" He said and disappeared behind them.

"Hey!" I got up and pushed the leaves aside. Bright light blinded me on the other side. I squinted my eyes and closed them shut. Suddenly strong arm enveloped me, protecting me from the light.

"Open them slowly." He whispered in my ears.

"Ahaan." I slowly opened them and waited for my eyes to adjust to the blinding light.

"Now... Look there. That's were I live." Scott let go of me and I gasped when I saw where he was pointing.

It was beautiful! There were hundreds of wild tulips growing everywhere. White, blue, pink, red, yellow! They all danced as the breeze blew past them and the water droplets on them sparkled as the sun shone through them. Right in the middle of the patch was a small cottage. All sorts of creeper crept up its wall, making it look like a nature's creation.

"Like what you see?" Scott whispered.
I looked up at him. "Loved it. It's magical."

"Glad you liked it. You're the first person who has seen it after my mother."

"Should I feel honored?" I said with a smirk.

"Very..." Scott seemed to be serious but the softness in his eyes remained.

"Here." He plucked a white tulip and gave it to me. "A welcoming gift for the fair maiden covered in mud."

"Ha, ha. Very funny." I took it and we went inside. The cottage was very homey. It had two rooms, a living room and a small kitchenette. And all were well maintained.

"Your mum did a pretty good job!" I exclaimed.

"Yeah..." Scott seemed a bit down. He smiled when his eyes met mine. "Go take a bath, I'll leave some clothes for you on the bed."

"Thank you. I really appreciate it." I said.

Scott nodded and disappeared into one of the rooms. I went into the opposite one and took a good long shower. Surprisingly the water was warm! It felt like heaven when it touched my skin. When I was sure, I had washed off all the mud, I wrapped a towel around myself and cautiously walked into the bedroom. The bedroom door was shut.

He's such a gentleman.

My eyes travelled to the bed. A white piece of clothing laid delicately on it. I picked it up and was surprised by how soft it was. And not only that! It was the most elegant silk dress I had ever seen! I threw the towel away and put it on. It felt like heaven! Soft and light!

I turned around to look in the mirror. It fit me perfectly! I held my wet hairs up and pulled them in a messy bun. Next I applied some make up I had found on the dressing table.

There. Now I look presentable.

"Emily?" I heard Scott's voice from the other side of the door.

"Come in!"

The door opened to reveal a very handsome Scott. He wore a white check shirt and black denim jeans. His hair hung in loose wet bangs over his forehead.

"Wow." He said.

Wow here too...

"You look beautiful." I blushed.

"Thank you." I said. "You don't look too bad yourself."

"Not too bad, huh?" Scott came closer to me with a smirk on his face. "I was going to prepare some coffee. Want some?" He whispered in my ear.

I stood there, glued to my spot. "Sure."

He grinned and left. Leaving me dumbfounded. I shook away the paralysis attack he gave me and made my way into the living room. I could hear Scott whistling in the kitchenette. It made me smile.

There were some photos of a small boy and a young lady on the walls. Obviously Scott and his mother. I walked over to them. Young Scott's chocolate brown eyes were full of happiness and so was his mother's.

There was something about her which was very familiar.

Where had I seen her before.

I closely inspected the pictures and it hit me!

She was Princess Marianne! The princess of England who had died in a terrible accident right years ago! That meant Scott was...

"So maybe now you know who I am?" I turned around to see Scott holding two mugs of coffee. He had a smile on his face, a sad smile.

"Yo... you're the Prince of England!"
