Chapter 71 "Refuge"

Santana's pov

"It's been days!"

"There hasn't been any word. What the fuck do you want me to do?!"

It's been days since Lozano's wife went missing. From what Lozano has gathered from the hospital she works at is that she showed up to her shift and clocked out. Meaning that her kidnapping occurred outside the premises. I also gathered that there is no longer heavy surveillance surrounding the hospital meaning one thing. Madison must of woken up. However, where Madison is residing right now that I don't know.

For Castillo being a dead son of a bitch, it sure seems like if he was still alive. He trained his mafia well, I must admit.

"The hospital's cameras were tampered with. It's almost as if the earth ate her," Moreno utters.

Suddenly, Lozano's cell phone starts ringing which he hastily answers. "Esmeralda?"

"Amor, is that you?!"

Instantly, this grabs our attention listening close to Lozano's conversation. "Baby, don't be scared. I will get you. Tell me who has you?," he worriedly says.

"Alright, I will be there," he adds while signaling Moreno for a paper and pencil in order to write down whatever is being said on the other line. "Don't worry Esme, I won't let anything happen to you. I-"

"Fuck!," Lozano grumbles slamming his phone down harshly against the table. "What the fuck happened?," I ask.

"The fucking Red Eagles got her," Lozano response unhappily, "This is all your fault for being so obsessed with Castillo's whore. I should of never gotten my wife into this mess," he grits his teeth slamming his fist against the table.

"Watch your tone Lozano. I didn't mean for this to happen. How did those fucks even find out? Better question, who's calling the shots? Rios?"

"Who the fuck knows. All I know now is that they got her. Correction, they have been having her. I should of known."

"I will bring her to safety, I promise. What she tell you?," I reassure Lozano wanting to get straight down to business.

"Esmeralda gave me an address for us to attend tomorrow midnight," Lozano responds handing me the piece of paper he used to write down the location his wife gave over the phone.

5478 Black Lane.

"Start googling this location," I instruct Moreno handing him the paper.

"Yes boss," he says turning his heel around heading towards the door.

"Get everyone ready for tomorrow. It's time for the Red Eagles to go extinct along with their heir."

Madison's pov

"Agoo," I say to little Leo who's warily watching me while moving his little arms all over the place. The mom life has been incredibly hard, yet beautiful at the same time. Having my baby boy in my arms is still so surreal to me. Everything he does amazes me and each day I fall deeper and deeper in love with him.

"Where's the bottle?," Leo asks as he goes through the baby's bag. We're currently at some Mexican restaurant waiting for our dishes to arrive. Leo wanted to bring his family out to eat since we haven't had any type of out time especially as a family due to all of the craziness that has occurred.

"Near the diapers," I respond. "Found it," he says pulling the bottle full of my breast milk out handing it over to me. Once I grab the bottle I insert it into little Leo's mouth watching him with such adoration as he eats.

"They better bring the food already before I blow this place up," Leo mutters taking a sip of his lemonade.

"Leo," I murmur giving him a stern look while holding little Leo's bottle.

Leo rolls his eyes in annoyance in silence as he grabs a tortilla chip dipping it into the pico de gallo. I do the same with my free hand patiently waiting for our order to arrive which five minutes later it does.

We both are eating our food when little Leo is finished with his bottle looking all drowsy from the breast milk. I rock his little car seat forward and back slowly, so he can fully shut his eyes for mimis time.

"Madison, we need to talk about something serious that is going down tomorrow," Leo utters breaking my attention away from little Leo. "What is it Leo?," I instantly ask feeling not so hungry anymore knowing it's something I'm not going to be so fond of.

"I have been having one of Santana's men's wife tied up at some abandoned warehouse for a couple of days now," he casually says taking a bite into his tamales.

"What? And you're barely telling me now why?," I scrunch my brows a bit stunned by this information. I knew Leo has been busy with some things do to coming home late at times and taking calls here and there, but for some reason I thought it had something to do with our new place Leo has been searching for since our home was wrecked by Santana.

Leo lets out a deep breathe, I didn't realize he was holding clearly not liking what he is about to say to me, "She's the nurse that assisted that son of a bitch into your room when you were still in a coma."

"Makes sense now," I reply understanding why this nurse that I don't even know how she looks like would do such a favor knowing she was violating Leo's orders over the hospital.

"That's not all, she has also helped us set a date for the war between us and Santana," he adds waiting for my response intently.

I take a moment to take it all in. I knew this was bound to happen soon, but for some reason I thought it would be a bit more later rather than this soon. I guess all of the sleepless nights with taking care of my son has fogged my brain a bit.

"It's time to put an end to all of this baby," I breathe reaching over to grab his hand. I'm not one for this type of violence, but when my son's life is in danger, I will do anything to make sure he is safe.

"I promise you and little Leo... tomorrow will be the end of it all. We will no longer have to watch our backs or be in hiding. Our son will no longer be in danger. Santana and his entire mafia will be out of our lives for good," Leo firmly says as he gives my hand a little squeeze.

Before I could say a word, Leo adds another important detail I didn't expect, "I was dreading this part, but it must be said for it will be happening," he sighs. "What do you mean?," I crease my brows confusedly.

"I'm going to send you and our son far away from this place. And by far, I mean to another state while this war happens."

I pull my hand away from his grip not liking this at all. I understand he wants me and little Leo far away from this battle, but to another state? Now that is just too far. Too freaking far from him. "No way am I going to be far from you again Leo," I grumble unhappily.

"Babe, you know I cannot risk having you nor Junior here while this all goes down. You know damn well how this mafia shit goes down. Don't forget Santana's mission is to get rid of our son. He will not stop at nothing until he gets what he wants," Leo explains with such seriousness within his tone and facial expression.

He's completely right. This mafia world is completely bloody. It isn't about just me anymore. It's about our son whose life is in danger due to Leo's rival. I turn around looking at a sleeping baby Leo knowing my husband is absolutely right. Look at how many things has occurred to me for being close to enemies who wanted to hurt Leo. There's no way I can risk my son's life all because I want to stay close to my husband. This isn't about Leo and I anymore. Our first priority, is our son always from now on.

His safety is above everything.

"You're right babe. I'm just so scared for you," my voice cracks admitting my deepest fear, "I'm scared to lose you."

"You will not lose me you hear me? Nothing will happen to me, I promise," Leo reassures as he grabs my hand within his grip giving it small kisses knowing exactly how to comfort me.

I inhale a deep breathe then exhale not wanting to be consumed by negative thoughts. "We're going to grow old together after this," I smile.

"Exactly"

"When will we be leaving? Tomorrow?," I ask.

"You're leaving tonight," he responds as I feel another punch in the stomach. "This is why we're here because you're sending us away as soon as we leave this restaurant aren't you?," I huff hating this entirely.

"I'm sorry it has to go down like this. After almost losing you. I just can't take any more risks nor make anymore mistakes. All I do is for you and Junior, you know that," Leo says trying to hide is emotions. However, I can see within his chocolate brown eyes that he two is hurting as much as I am. Leo loves being close to me and his son. However, due to the circumstances it's best for us to be away from the war as much as possible.

"I understand Leo. Please keep me updated on everything," I respond hiding my hurt from him. The last thing, I want is to make this any harder for him than it already is. I need to start acting like the red eagle queen I am.

The king needs me to be strong.

"I will now let's go. My private jet is waiting for you," he informs me as he leaves cash for the bill. I nod in agreement standing up so Leo can grab little Leo for us to start making our way to our destination that I have no clue on where I will be staying at in the meantime.

Santana's pov

"Madison has been spotted," Moreno bursts through the doors informing me. I hastily stand up from my chair causing it to tumble backwards harshly from the sudden action.

"Where? Is Castillo's heir with her?"

"Yes sir, they're both in Castillo's private jet. Not sure yet where they're both leaving to," Moreno responds.

"Who the fuck is calling all these shots? Must be fucking Castillo's right hand, Rios," I grit my teeth.

"Madison might not be as innocent as you may think boss. Seems to me that she's a damn red eagle."

"Call Valentino, I want that jet followed now!"
