Chapter 37: Two professors are better than one!
A bright and sunny day shines forth above the region of Alola, with a gentle breeze that flew through the palm trees and silky hair of tourists. Rather class starting or wrapping up, Kukui resumes scribbling important notes on the biology of a Kantonian and Alolan Exeggutor. The class took notes of how the Alolan counterpart was a duel typing of Grass and Dragon, while the other is a duel Grass and Psychic.
"Despite it's open pool of weaknesses, Alolan Exeggutor is no slouch. You raise one up from an Eggsecute, and it delivers a Dragon Hammer you wouldn't want to get into the middle of!"
Kukui pauses from writing any more notes, while the class catches up. Ash seemed to stop on his own, even looking up from his composition book, wondering what Kukui just said about knocking socks off.
"Dragon Hammer? What kind of move that?"
He sat there with a processing brain, Saki even steps in to help him explain what exactly could that ever mean.
"Well Ash, it's a hammer, used by a dragon Pokémon... It's kinda self explanatory."
A classroom famous chat starts expanding, as Sophocles couldn't help but chime in, balancing his pen on Togademaru's nose while at it.
"Well there's a little more to that Saki. Dragon Hammer is a move that is exclusive only to Alolan Exeggutor. It's a bit tricky to land a move with a figure as such, but if it does, let's just say it'll be a nail meets hammer introduction."
The class leaned in to the brainy mind of Sophocles, as Kukui nodded his head in approval. Now the man couldn't help but to think back to a memory he had winning a stuffed plushie of the tropical Pokémon for a friend of his at least a year ago.
"This Exeggutor talk has me thinking back to a carnival a year ago, I'm a pro pin knocking guy myself and won a plushie of one. I gave it to a friend of mine..."
Kukui smiles and looks over towards the ocean, Lillie now starting to wonder if she could recall this friend just by Kukuis suggestive stare out the open window. Mallow and Lana caught Lillie in her tracks, so the green gal raised her hand before Lillie could, to speak.
"Professor Kukui, does this friend of your by chance the one you've been spending much time with recently?"
That right there gets the kids attention, catching Kukui and his game of his. He didn't bother hesitating as he was straight forward, rather than playing down.
"Correct Mallow, a friend of mine dropping by very soon actually! I hope you don't mine the surprise visit."
Speaking at a time couldn't be more convenient, Samson Oak, carrying his own Vulpix into the classroom swung by, a big smile on his face. With him was a women none of the kids have met before. A women with a shade of tan not so far off Kukuis own lining, with clothes the absent minded would think she just came back from the gym.
"Alola class! What a Luvdisc day today is? We hope we didn't Starly you by any means!"
Right from the bat with the Pokémon puns, Bob laughed his innocent butt off from the quality of jokes which sat in the, "it's not even that funny" category, but ends up a knee slapper for him.
"My my Kukui, you have the upmost brightest of students. I knew you would always be the man to lead a fine class..."
This women of his stood with a loose smile and a small blush, who proceeded to hug the teacher.
"Class, I would like you meet Burnet, she's also a professor studying the importance of Pokémon Biology!"
To show the kids that she's no ordinary women, Burnet spun a 360 degree step and posed her hand in a peace sign above her eye, a wink lighting the class.
"A pleasure to meet you fine boys and girls!"
A gasp left the kids in awe from the unique women, who stood back in her normal posture.
"Professor Burnet is no ordinary women. She's a spectacular researcher AND one tricky Pokémon trainer!"
Hearing that part about Pokémon battle certainly caught the attention of the class, as they wondered how true were the wise mans words.
"Tricky opponent? Now I'm curious..."
Bob and Rowlet leaned in from their seats, just eager to see this women in action... A Pokémon battle actually.
"You better believe it my students! Professor Burnet is a Miltank like no other! She'll Rollout and Rollout until you throw in the towel! She'll take a Hitmonlee and deliver a Hitmonchan!"
Samson at it again with the puns, which only raised the level of energy into the classroom. A plan of Kukui was set to take off tomorrow involving a trip, but Burnet's early arrival suggests that they should head out exactly that moment.
"Alright, alright. Now, I did have something planned out for tomorrow, but since Professor Burnet is already here, we'll put a pin on today's Exeggutor lesson and out for a Pokémon battle or two!"
If there was anything the class of Kukui loves is a good field day involving Pokémon battles! Everyone inside quickly cleared out, as the outdoors were calling, and unwanted guests waiting for them too...
"Professor Burnet, she's a new figure, wouldn't you say?"
Meowth zooms in on the last shot of the new character before with his high tech binoculars right after she left the classroom. James caught a good glimpse of her too, but was rather silent for the second.
"Yeah, quite unique if I may say,"
Suggesting that she may have a bit more to offer behind that pretty face of hers, Jessie quickly spat to snap James out of his space of thought, of Burnet.
"No time for wet dreams James,"
She sighs, refocusing back to the mission, sounding like she had the perfect plan to do so,
"we've got those twerps and those old fools right were we want them... That Pokémon battle is gonna tire them out, and once it's all over, we'll fly in and swipe every single Pokémon in the open! They'll be too tired to break free!"
Meowth and James look at her with her plan and obliviously blinked a blank thought.
"How come we never thought to wait after the battle to swipe'em before...?"
"Beats me, guess we just can't wait to capture or maybe it could be we're bad at timing."
Jessie stood up, already proving that they may be right about the terrible timing.
"Not this time! Come on guys, those twerps won't know what'll hit them! But the brunette brat will know, it'll be me who delivers one for her!"
"Yeah! We'll show em!"
Sneaking right out of the bushes, Team Rocket trails the class and the adults all the way to the beach. The nice warm weather really has brought the citizens and the tourists out for a nice day at the beach. The same could be said about Professor Kukui's classroom.
"Back on the beach Pikachu! I really wish I could go for a swim right now!"
Ash stretched his arms out into the air as he didn't care who seek, which the kids could agree on.
"You're totally right Ash, I've been meaning to take you all out to the beach just for a refreshing day. Which will be very soon. I promise."
Kukui stood watching the rolling waves on the beach, knowing something was on his mind. Samson and Burnet stood right next to the Professor, the beautiful sea wasn't something to take for granite.
"Now then! How about we have a fun run? Take your partner out and let's go enjoy the beach together!"
Kukui suggested as he took out his own Pokeball and sends out a large bird Pokémon that swooped right back to the ground.
"Aaiii! Aaaaiiiii!"
It's voice descends from above right down next to the man, who pets it's large beak.
"Profezzor, it'z zo nice to zee Braviary again!"
Even the long stood class was quite awed from the appearance of this majestic Pokémon.
"That's a Braviary? I've only seen them on TV, but it's so big upfront!"
Bob was quite astounded from the large wings it flapped around, comparing it to Rowlet, who's wings were as plump and long as a chicken wing.
"Braviary is looking amazing Professor!"
Lana and Popplio couldn't help but to compliment the way Kukui has raised the Pokémon. Which was now the time for Professor Burnet to select her own Pokémon.
"Come on out darling! Everyone is dying to meet you!"
She sends out the round, furry Pokémon with a big appetite known as Munchlax. Kukui pets the small Pokémon like a dad would to his son.
"It's great to see it little guy, how has Munchlax been holding up?"
"As fine as our friendship, holding a nice sparkling glass of freshly picked wine~"
The adults shared a chuckle, which not many of the kids found funny because they weren't allowed to drink at their age.
"Sorry about that, anyways! Let's go on that fun run!"
Kukui and Burnet took a head start with their Pokémon, while everyone else selected their partner and began the sprint across the beach.
Ash and Pikachu were built for these runs, so they were off nice and well. Mallow, Steenee, Lana and Popplio were fine too, just not as pacing like he is. Saki and her Mimikyu were actually pretty good when it came to the run, Bob so much wasn't... For most of his days spent inside watching TV and eating all sorts of snacks, he and Sophocles were left behind. Kiawe stranded in the back not because he wasn't suited, but Turtonator isn't a Pokémon known for its speed and agility, so the boy was patient. Samson Oak paced alongside Lillie, who both watched the Vulpix race to see who would strike first place.
It was quite the way to let our ambitions and energy out, but everyone made it on the other side of the beach while the sun remained high in the sky. Breaths were gasping and hands on the knees, everyone had a great day out with comments and laughter.
"That... Actually wasn't bad."
Bob panted somewhat out of breath, Mallow nodded her head.
"It was actually a lot more fun than I expected!"
She agreed, as she high fives Saki for the accomplishment.
"Can't wait for another beach run! Right buddy?"
"Pika! Pikachu!"
From corner of the beach, stood the food stands and grills which Burnets Munchlax couldn't resist. It trailed its way to a snack truck in the design of a Bewear, the same Pokémon who keeps them as guests in its home.
"Muuuuuu..."
It pushes its face to the back of the trucks door and whiffed up a major scent picking up within. Suddenly, it opened by itself, no one inside, nor any food locked in safe, Munchlax had an all access pass to a literal truck load of snake cakes, Malasada, and other local favorites. No time flat, it digs in the feast and enjoys every continuing bite. But little did it know, employees of the truck were just around the corner.
"Okay, let's revise the plan. Jessie and I will lure the twerps in with our unbelievable goodies, and than you Meowth shall spring-trap them with the next blaster!"
James spoke carrying a box that presumably carried the mentioned net gun.
"That's a big bad plan to work! This time it's rip proof! So nothing can scratch it whatsoever!"
Meowth chuckled, walking alongside the two before the plan was set into motion.
"Agreed, now everyone on deck, it is time to get the show in the road-"
Opening the door of the snack truck found Munchlax just eating the last package of Hostess Cup Cakes. Am gasping breath left the three in quite disbelief, all the snacks that they themselves could've made a profit off, only to vanish and to leave them in debt, to pay the suppliers for the consumed snacks they have been trusted to sell.
"James... Meowth... There is a Munchlax in our truck..."
"It ate our bait... For the children and their Pokémon..."
"I think it's time to send it off with one more thing that needs to be done..."
"GET IT!!"
They all shouted in attempt to pounce the chubby Pokémon, but it delivers a Headbutt in defense, sending them flying with its big head, and made a run for it.
"Don't let it get away! It robbed us out of unearned money!"
Meowth yelled as the three chased the Munchlax across the beach foodcourts. For a small chubby Pokémon who loves to eat, it was actually quick on its feet, a trait you don't find common for a Pokémon that evolves into the iconically slow Snorlax. It scurries back to Burnets spot, who actually didn't even realize that Munchlax was gone all this time, instead, was too busy laughing in front of Professor Kukui.
"There you are! You little money munching thief!"
"Do you have any idea how hard it was to earn the rights to sell Hostess' baked goods??"
"Their baked with love for the good boys and girls!"
Team Rocket has thrown everything they had over the gluttonous Pokémon, a tad in shame for devouring such treats without considering the slightest of consequences.
"Mm... Munch..."
It weeps, under the mini storm cloud that raised over it, which started to slip the mission over from the three. Burnet was at first confused to see all the crumbs and frosting all over Munchlax, until the three angry thieves have yelled at it for its bad deed.
"Wait what?! Munchlax! Since when did you go out and steal yourself treats without my supervision? That's gonna spoil your dinner!"
The Professor begins her own way of digging the heels of shame into Munchlax, which the class had to witness. Now this could've been an intervention if the three employees weren't the major thieves of Team Rocket.
"I dunno, I don't think a small snack cakes won't fill a Pokémon like Munchlax up."
Sophocles told the class a fun fact right before getting back to Team Rocket on the scene. Ash and his friends had no idea what they were up to springing themselves into public without any major disguises on or any traps to be laid out on the sand. They were just there, out in the open without the Bewear hats that came with their uniform.
"Okay Team Rocket, I don't know what kind of charade this is, but you won't be taking any of our Pokémon!"
Ash stood out with his Pikachu ready for anything they could possibly throw in their position, which it wasn't until they finally realize that they were right in front of the class, without their net gun.
"Oh geez! That's what we forgot! We were too busy trying to catch the Munchlax, we forgot our tool of success!"
Meowth panicked, but the other two remained still, despite them started to sweat a tad bit.
"As if that could've made any differences,"
Saki rolled her eyes at the falling grace of Team Rockets unprepared plan to swipe their Pokémon.
"You all would just be better off working at the cafe you all apparently crawled out off for a living than being such mediocre thieves."
She directly said right over to Jessie, who was already burning up from the taunting of the person she just can't stand. Jessie wanted to yell, but at the same time, Professor Burnet was simply lost in the middle of the heist, if you could call it that.
"Wait... Can anyone tell me what exactly these three are suppose to be..?"
"These three are known as Team Rocket. No good clowns who fail at taking other people's Pokémon!"
Bob fills her in with the desire to take this mess in his hands with a Pokémon battle, but Kukui places his hand on his shoulder.
"That's okay Bob, no need for your efforts. Professor Burnet and I promised you all a battle, and now we will show you one."
"That's right Kukui~ I think it's time to pick the Pokémon I'll be using!"
With a toss of another Pokéball, she sends out a bird Pokémon matching Braviary. This Pokémon was blue with large white puffy wings resembling clouds.
"Alllllll! Altaria!"
It's harmonic voice sings and flew right next to Braviary, the two seemed eager to battle as partners. Jessie and James weren't about to pass the opportunity to swipe such large and power bird Pokémon, so they sent out their two only Pokémon Mimikyu and Rockruff.
"Well show you mediocre thieves! Mimikyu use Shadow Ball!"
"Go, Snarl!"
Firing their long range attacks at them, the two easily dodged by taking flight, already showing their first advantage of this battle.
"Go Altaria! Disarming Voice!"
Squeaking a tune right out of its beak, Altaria delivers bouncing musical notes that dealt damage to both opposing Pokémon, despite their efforts to dodge it to.
"Oh goddess! I completely forgot the secondary effect of Disarming Voice! It makes contact on the Pokémon no matter what!"
Lillie held Snowy close to her, making sure it stays away from the rumbling going on from the field.
"Go Braviary! Use Aerial Ace on Mimikyu!"
A massive hit on the ghost Pokémon, Mimikyu was knocked from its feet from the attack, but it was wide open after that.
"You think you're so clever huh? Rockruff Stone Edge!"
A hit which landed the Pokémon sent to back to Kukui, but it stood back despite the disadvantage of typing.
"You monsters! No one ever attacks my partner like that! Solarbeam and send them flying!"
Charging up energy using the sun as a miraculous source, Jessie found the perfect opportunity to attack.
"Fools! We don't give up that easily! As if we'll let your Pokémon charge up before we're done! Mimikyu use Play Rough now!"
Mimikyu springs itself into the sky, which send everyone into a gasp.
"Crap! If Mimikyu lands that Play Rough, Altaria might be in huge trouble!"
Kiawe clenched his fist to see Mimikyu on the high ground, but Kukui wasn't flinching from the sight of this. His Braviary was alright back into the air, ready to cause havoc against the bad guys.
"Alright Braviary, show them what your made of! Use Rock Slide!"
Braviary summons portals that started to descend rocks above and causes damage not only to Mimikyu, but to Rockruff as well.
"Thanks Kukui! I knew I can always count of you!"
Burnet winked, watching Team Rocket to topple down like Jenga blocks.
"Oh man! We're in for it now!"
"Go Altaria! Unleash your attack now!"
All charged up, a powerful blast made up from organic energy pulses through both Pokémon and sent them flying, the contact even reached the crooks, sending them back into the forest, luckily caught by Bewear, who patiently waited for their return back.
"Bwwwaaaaaaaaaa?"
"Team Rocket blasts off with a new bang...."
Now that the bad guys are taken care off, everyone had a good celebratory stance of pushing back the goals of Team Rocket until they decide to get back up from the ground once more.
"Great job Kukui and Burnet! You two make an awesome team!"
The class jumped in glee of the two performances of the professors
"Thanks kids, and to think battling was behind me... I feel young again..."
Kukui scratches his head, only to see his blush pierce by Burnet and smiled too.
"So do I! Hope your in the mood for another one sometime!"
Samson Oak clapped for the two victory and laughed.
"Now that's what I call a Victini! Happiny and proud!"
Everyone laughed at Samon and his jokes, before heading back to the Pokémon School, but by then, the last bell of the day was rung by Komala, signaling that it was time to head home anyways, and with that, everyone returned from another day at the Pokémon school!
