You sat in your room. Sketching and taking notes of course. You have been in the studies of mythological creatures and beast since you were sixteen. It's a tough business to be in. Everyone thinks you're completely bonkers and said that you belonged to the house of Hufflepuff, yet... you'd NEVER give up. NEVER in a million years. If you were given the option of a second live, you would lead it the same way.
Plus, with your new discovery there was no way people could call you a lunatic. You peer at the mason jar, and smile as the glowing orb makes a little )tink tink( as it hits the glass. You had spent years, long years, on studying this specific species. Pixies.
NEVER have you been so proud of yourself. As you took a few last notes on wing patterns, you continued to listen to the little clinks of the glass. You did feel sorry for the fairy, but you'd let it go the second you finished your notes. You put your note book away and shut off the light in your office. You breached your room and entered the mystical world you had design to comfort you in your off-hours. It looked whimsical. Forest, fairies, beautiful wild beast. You slipped into your periwinkle night gown. Your bed was on a loft and you had to climb a tree to get to it. Once there, you slipped under the covers, turned on your reading lamp and picked up a timeworn book of mythology. You read until you dozed off.
***
Your dreams are suddenly interrupted when you wake to the windows in your bedroom fling open. You assume it's just the wind until you hear voices. "Keep quiet, little bear. We need to find tink."
Next you here someone reply in a dopey voice, "But what if she wakes?"
"SHHH!!!"
As far as you could tell from listening, there were two boys in your room. One sounded your age, the other younger. You inched closer to try to get a look and find that they are looking through your stuff. You flip on the light.
"Oi. Who are you?"
Both boys try to get to the window, the younger one hopes out of it and FLIES away. You grab the older boy's arm, still shocked that you just witnessed someone fly.
"He flow!" You exclaim to the older boy and his beautiful eyes meet yours.
"Why, you're only a girl." He noted with a glowing expression and a bright smile. "Little Bear! Come back. She's only a girl!" He called out to the younger boy who flow back into the window. "Please excuse us, we heard tails that you were a beastly creature." He talked with such excitement in his voice. He'd be a good story teller.
"Well, as you can see, I'm not a beast. I'm (Your name), pleased to meet you...?"
"Little Bear." The younger of the two extended his hand to you. You shook it then turned to the older boy. Now in full light you could truly marvel at the sight of him. What he was wearing though... is it even legal to be so exposed in the towns of London. And people called you nuts.
"Peter."
"Peter...?" A smile of delight and interest comes a crossed your face.
"Just Peter." He returned a perfect smile.
"Well, Just Peter, what are you doing in my house?"
It was Little Bear who replied, "We've come to get Tink, hah!"
Tink?... you thought... Tink... like... tink-tink.... You got it. They were here for the fairy!
"Ah, but you can't have her just yet. You see, I study myths and mythological creatures. I-"
Peter interrupts. "Saying that, is just a boring way of saying you love adventures. Well, if it's adventures you want, get Tink and I'll take you to magical places!" (A/N: any dirty minds out there... shhhh.... Abbie specifically, I couldn't figure out a better way of putting that even though I know it sounds wrong.) You hesitate. You'd give up your pixie research to obtain more, but then what if this is a trap? You go get the fairy and return to your room. Peter reaches for it but you pull out of his reach and he gives a confused look.
"How do I know I can trust you?"
"Great adventures need to take great risks." This advice seemed reasonable, especially coming from a guy like him. Those looks. You end up handing him the jar. He opens it and the little ball of light comes flying at you. Peter quickly grabs it quick and puts it back in the jar.
"Sorry. Un-social, this one is." He examines the glass the glass making cute faces at the angered fairy.
"Well, we'll be off." Little Bear is the first to fly off. You watch till he is just a speck and then with a twinkle, he vanishes from sight. Next is your turn. You step up to the window seal. You look down at the city far bellow. You swallow and start to reconsider but then you feel a warm hand on your shoulder. "Think a happy thought and away you go." Peter whispered in your ear, sending shivers down your back. It was enough to boost your confidence though. You stepped off and fell to your death.
Falling quick. Heart racing. Faster. Faster. Faster. The ground getting closer. You close your eyes telling yourself you never should have trusted a boy who wears tights. Just when you think you're about to slam down on the pavement you feel fairly muscular arms around your waist and suddenly your climaxing. (A/N: Not. One. Word.) You hear a familiar voice breathing down your neck, sending tingles through your whole body. "Forgot the pixie dust. Always forgetting that." He chortled. "I'll just need to carry. Hope you don't mind." You don't. A guy has NEVER giving you this much attention. flow off into the sky, over the clouds, then you start to return to earth, hovering over miles of sea. You've studied oceans before but these waters didn't look familiar. In the distance you spot an island which you soon land on and are greeted by boys of all shapes and sizes, all of them wearing unique animal costumes.
"ANOTHER ONE?"
"Is it really a girl?"
"Can we keep this one?"
Questions followed questions, characterized in cute little boy voices. Yes, it was nice to see them but what really interested you was the island. Trees, so beautiful, you couldn't identify them. Fairies, harpies, Nymphs, Mermaids. Goodness. You pulled out your journal and got right to work. You trudge through the forest followed by Peter. You didn't know the place but some how you knew exactly where you were going.
Hours of note taking and listening, but not really answering, Peter's questions, past. You now found yourself sitting in a high tree house towering above the land. Peter lunged on a set in an awkward position and you went through your notes.
"Will you ever put that down?" At his words you shut the book and turn to him.
"Thank you, Peter. Thank you soooo much." You couldn't thank him enough. He knew it was time for you to leave, but you didn't.
"The lost boys were telling me about a... Wendy?" You inquire.
"Wendy. A friend of ours, Mother to the lost boys. She told good stories." You notice remorse in his eyes. Could it be he had feelings for this Wendy?
"Where is she now?"
"She grow up." You loved how he said that with absolute discussed. You laughed and he added, "She left."
"I don't see why anyone would leave here?"
"You'd stay?"
"I am staying!"
"You wont leave?"
"I am NEVER leaving."
"Wont you miss your family. Your life?"
"My life was awful. People would always mock me and never understand. My mother past shortly after my birth and I unfortunately reported that my father died just last year."
He sits beside you with his legs bent against his chin resting on his knees. "Then will you be the lost boys new mother?"
"Yes. I would love to."
He scooted closer to you, and leaned in to kiss your cheek but he meet your lips instead. You couldn't help it. His eyes widen from joy and he starts to stand, as do you. His arms slide around your waist and yours go around his neck.
After the memorable first kiss, he sits on the window seat, you in his arms. Your eyes gaze at the stares, so many, why hadn't you seen them before. Maybe it was because now. You had a home and someone to love. Those were the stars that now light your heart.
