PERCY POV- I find out I have my own book series! #2
A/N: Part 2! Sorry if I offend anyone who likes the Percy Jackson movies or the Hobbit movies (because I kinda downplay those too). I'm not a big fan of the PJO movies (okay, that's an understatement) or the Hobbit movies, but I do not want to hate on anyone who does like them- that would be wrong and quite cruel.
Also, can I just say, I love the Lightning Thief musical and I know it's underrated because many people are scared it's like the movies, but it really isn't, it is siriusly AMAZHANG.
Okay, now that I'm done advertising, let's get to the story.
Percy POV
I was dumbfounded. I didn't think our adventures were so great that they would get 2 freaking book series, forget the 2 freaking movies.
Oh, and a MUSICAL? Out of all the words I can use to describe my past adventures, 'musical' is really not one of them. 'I saved my friends by singing to evil gigantic ants'- when would that realistically ever happen?
Leo excitedly said, "There are movies? Dude, that is so cool! Can we watch one?"
"Why not?", Grover shrugged and gave him the first movie disc to put in the monster-proof laptop Leo had fixed up.
I'll have to admit, the prospect of watching movies about ourselves intrigued me. I was getting kinda excited- I mean, who doesn't love movies? Everyone seemed to have similar thoughts, except Annabeth, who seemed a bit cautious.
"I'd advise you not to get your hopes too high. The books are always better."
To answer my own previous question, Annabeth. Annabeth doesn't love movies. She doesn't hate them, but she doesn't like them and she doesn't watch that many.
Jason questioned her, "The books can't always be better. It's probably 50-50, right?"
Annabeth replied, "You'd think, but actually, no. Think of the major examples when an adventure story is brought to cinemas that is supposedly fictional- because this movie would be written by mortals who think this is fictional. The Harry Potter movie franchise, the 3 Hobbit movies, The Mortal instruments City of Bones movie... The books are usually better." Nico and Hazel were looking really confused at these movie/book mentions, having not heard of any of these due to being from the first half of the 20th century.
Leo intervened. "Okay, I'll admit the 3 Hobbit movies were totally unnecessary and way too long and stuff, but these movies could be great. In fact, I bet you 5 drachmas that these movies will be decent."
Annabeth said, "Okay. I accept."
"Oh man, you're screwed. If there's one thing I've learned in this life, it's that you should NEVER bet against Annabeth." I had to tell Leo what he'd gotten himself into, it was my duty.
"Whatever, can we just watch?" Piper piped in. I looked around and saw that she had a point. Frank and Reyna looked a bit impatient and Hazel was trying to stifle a laugh at Piper's annoyed expression. So we turned our attention to Leo's laptop screen.
~after watching the 2 movies~
"I believe you owe me 5 drachmas." Annabeth pointedly said to Leo.
Leo gulped. "Hey, the movie wasn't that bad! I mean, I liked the bit with the- okay, I'm sorry, I can't do this. I give up! Here is your money."
Annabeth smirked as she took the money from him. I would feel more sorry for the guy, but hey, I warned him.
I really didn't like those movie directors. I was angry but amused at the same time. How could they get the story THAT wrong? People's stupidity continues to shock me, and I've done some pretty stupid things (well, I am a person, so fair enough). "I feel violated...and not in a good way."
"Can you even feel violated in a good way?" Asked Hazel, who was leaning on Frank's shoulder, looking very bummed-out.
"I don't know and I don't care." I replied, because I didn't know and I really didn't care.
Annabeth was quite amused but you could see a dangerous glint in her stormy grey eyes that showed a glimpse of anger. "I would say 'I told you so', but I think the movies said it for me."
Everyone murmured in assent. Frank asked, "Didn't you guys say you fought my dad around this time. You know, the Greek version of him."
"Yes." Replied Grover, Annabeth and I (look at my cool grammar skills, ANNABETH CHECKED IT AND IT WAS CORRECT!) at the same time.
"Then shouldn't he be in that first movie?"
"Yes."
Nico said, "I don't love my father that much, but he's not THAT bad- as he was shown to be in this film. After this and Disney's Hercules, I'm wondering what is up with media hating the Underworld? Also, they really flattered Persephone in this, like SHE SHOULDN'T EVEN BE THERE- IT'S SUMMER, gods of Olympus-"
Grover groaned. "Perrrrrcy," he bleated, "Why are you guys so old- I swear you were 12 when that stuff happened. Oh, and I think they just stole our personalities."
'They stole our personalities.' That pretty much sums up what we had just seen.
"Annabeth doesn't have blond hair in the first one. WHAT DO THEY HAVE AGAINST BLOND PEOPLE?" Jason said (I think he had too much soda- or maybe somebody just spiked the soda). Piper put her head in her hand and said, "I'm pretty sure they don't have anything against you, or any other blond people, Jason."
Annabeth spoke, her voice dangerously calm and her gaze steely and her beautiful grey eyes that I could stare at forever were like an unsettling storm that could kill all her enemies at one word.
"Well, they certainly screwed my character up. Even if this character were not based on me, she would be quite underdeveloped and shallow- just another love interest with no personality. Speaking of which- fall in love with Seaweed brain in the midst of the first 2 years me knowing him? That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. Can I also say, THEY GOT THE WRONG CURSED BLADE FOR THE PROPHECY. Like, what happened to my celestial bronze knife that Luke gave me?! I liked that knife...I really miss that knife..." she trailed off.
Welp, that turned into a rant. I didn't blame her though, I've missed her knife too. It made me think of all the adventures I've shared with her and how we've survived all the crazy schist we've been through. So many memories with that knife... Okay, I have to stop getting emotional over a knife and tell you what happened next.
Ah, here's the fun part. This is when all Hades broke loose because of a wrongly timed comment I yelled in frustration.
"I cannot take these movies seriously. I mean, CLARISSE WASN'T EVEN IN THE FIRST ONE!"
Big mistake. The window of my cabin was open and Clarisse just happened to be talking to someone outside.
Let me tell you something about Clarisse- she has, uh, pride (do NOT tell her I said that). Such pride makes her furious when she's excluded from certain events. Like an entire movie.
So, naturally, Clarisse suddenly broke my Cabin's beautiful door down and bellowed, "I WASN'T EVEN IN IT?!" Which scared the daylights out of pretty much everyone in the room. I may have shrieked (hey, don't judge, I wasn't the only one...although I was the loudest).
Leo, who was sitting on a couch's armrest, tumbled onto the cabin floor in surprise. Frank fearfully held Hazel in his arms, then started wondering why that was his default panic mode.
Nico and Annabeth were the least fazed (unsurprisingly). They calmed down the fastest. Nico said, "Woah, calm down. Don't worry, you don't want to have been in it."
"Wait, how do you know what we're talking about?!" I asked, still confuzzled by the previous events (Annabeth, I don't care if 'confuzzled' isn't an actual word, it sounds funny and I'm keeping it).
Clarisse rolled her eyes in the most dramatic way possible. "I have been outside for the past 5 minutes and you guys have been very loud about how much you hate these 'movies' that apparently don't include me... the nerve..." She clenched her fists.
Oh, okay then.
I locked eyes with Annabeth and we came to a silent agreement that we wouldn't tell Clarisse her father was barely in the movies either. I like my cabin, and I didn't want her to break something else in there; like my windows, or the fishy lamp Jason gave me for Christmas.
Anyways, all of us who were in my cabin that day came to a pact where we wouldn't speak of these so-called 'Percy Jackson movies' ever again. They never said anything about writing about them- so this exists- because why not?
On the plus side, we're watching the musical the next weekend. What can I say, I can't just not watch a musical with dam jokes. (wow, I'm really biased towards the musical, aren't I)
~the end~
