Hideo: Hey man. Wanna hang out?

Protagonist: A: Nah.

B: Yes.

Hideo (A): Oh man. Maybe some other time.

(Cancels event. Consumes no time slot.)

Hideo (B): Great. You hungry? Let's get a late lunch.

(Event continues.)

(Transition to the ramen restaurant.)

Hideo: Good stuff huh?

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Hideo: Hey, sorry for accusing you of murdering Aimi. I just glanced at the article and saw your name.

Protagonist: A: I'd had done the same. (Best choice.)

B: It's fine. (Good choice.)

Hideo (A): Great minds think alike huh?

Hideo (B): Thanks for letting me off the hook man.

Hideo: (Turns away silently. Stays silent for a few moments.)

Hey dude? How long did you know Aimi?

Protagonist: (Speaks.)

Hideo: Huh. That's a fair amount of time actually. Mie and I knew her for years. The three of us were tight dude. None of us had siblings so we just hung out with each other since grade school.

I didn't really think much of it then, but Aimi would come to school with black eyes and shit. If only I had known.

One thing I never got to tell her was that I had a crush on her. I was literally planning to ask her out on the day she died, but she never came to school. Mie and I, we were like family, but Aimi, at least for me, it felt a bit different...

Event Two: (Open with the duo walking down the street.)

Hideo: Hey dude, you ever think about taking up jogging?

Protagonist: A: Why do you ask? (Good choice.)

B: I thought you had strong legs. (Best choice.)

Hideo (B): You noticed huh?

(Chuckles.)

Hideo (A/Normal): I used to be on the track team. Good times, and I loved running in a group, but one day the coach pulled me aside and kicked me off the team for some stupid bullshit. I was running if you wanted to run together sometime.

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Hideo: Great! Speaking of running, I'm gonna run on home. See you at school.

(Leaves.)

(Hideo can now baton pass.)

Event Three: (Open with Hideo and the protagonist jogging. Hideo appears tired and winded.)

Hideo: Dude... wait up.

Text box: Hideo seems really tired really fast.

Protagonist: A: You OK dude? (Best choice.)

B: Dude keep up. (Bad choice.)

Hideo (A): Yeah yeah I'm fine dude. I'm...

Hideo (B): You think you're faster than me? I'll outrun you dude. I'll...

Hideo: (Collapses.)

Protagonist: (Appears shocked.)

Text Box: You have to get help!

Protagonist: (Calls an ambulance.)

(Scene change to the hospital.)

Text Box: You went with Hideo to the hospital.

Doctor: (Approchaes protagonist.)

Are you his friend?

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Doctor: OK here's the deal. This kid has been severely under eating. If this keeps it up, it could become dangerous. You need to make sure he eats OK?

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Doctor: Good. He also said he's sorry for the trouble and he hopes to hang out again with you soon. He'll be out tomorrow.

Text Box: You feel responsible for Hideo's health and safety. You have to help him.

You decide to head home for the day.

(Player can now dash, moving very quickly over a short distance, in dungeons, which uses a minor amount of SP. However, first striking an enemy in a dash will cause them to be knocked prone and allow the first party member to attack, and attack again as if they got a one more.)

Event Four:

(Open on the duo eating at a burger joint. Hideo does not touch his food.)

Text Box: Hideo isn't eating again...

Protagonist: A: Eat dumbass. (Bad choice.)

B: You OK man? (Best choice.)

Hideo (A): Wow OK dick.

Hideo (B): Yeah...

(Hideo turns away with a depressed expression and sighs before speaking again.)

Hideo: Sorry about the hospital incident man. These things happen sometimes.

Protagonis: A: I'm worried about you. (Good choice.)

B: I care about you. (Best choice.)

Hideo: I know I know. This has been going on for a while. Ever since...

I was fat in middle school. My mom hated me being fat so much she wouldn't let me eat.

(Protagonist appears shocked. The screen flickers for a moment, becoming tinted red before returning to normal.)

Protagonist: A: You can heal your mental wounds with time and therapy. (Best choice.)

B: It'll be OK. (Good choice.)

Hideo: Yeah yeah I know. I can go to therapy and heal my mental wounds over time. But...

I just haven't been able to eat since.

Protagonist: (Speaks)

Hideo: Yeah maybe you're right. I should start with a little bit of food at a time. Thanks man. I appreciate your help.

(Hideo begins to slowly eat.)

(Hideo can now remove status conditions from allies!)

Event Five: (Opens on the duo at the ramen shop.)

(Hideo is eating, but he's eating slowly.)

Text Box: Hideo is... trying.

Protagonist: A: Eat fool! (Bad choice.)

B: Hideo, please... (Best Choice)

Hideo (A): Back off man.

Hideo (B): I know man...

Hideo: It's just... hard. I live with my aunt now and she's great, but...

(Hideo sighs.)

It's just... hard man. You know? I don't wanna be fat and ugly and-

Text Box: Hideo seems depressed. You should say something.

Protagonist: A: Your mom was lying anyways. (Good choice.)

B: Just be fat. (Bad choice.)

C: You're not gonna be fat you're gonna be stronger. (Best choice.)

Hideo (A): I know but...

Hideo (B): It's not that simple...

Hideo (C): I mean maybe...

Hideo: I've been thinking and... I told my aunt about what's going on. I'm a little scared how things are gonna go from here though. I dunno, I know she loves me but...

(Hideo gets up.)

Hideo: I'll keep you posted. Thanks for having my back.

(Hideo leaves.)

Event Six: (Opens on the duo jogging at the school track, stopping to grab water.)

Hideo: Man I feel great!

(Hideo splashes water from a water bottle on his face to cool off.)

Hideo: Man I started going to therapy and I'm doing a lot better! I just wanted to say, thank you. I... love you man.

Protagonist: A: Like a brother?

B: Is there homo there? (Romance)

Hideo (A): Yeah man! We're family!

Hideo (B): I mean...

(Hideo is blushing)

Kinda yeah.

Hideo: You and me man. We going places. I only gotta get back on the track team now. They kicked me off when I stopped eating.

(Hideo walks over to the protagonist.)

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Hideo: Thanks man.

Hideo (If not romanced): I'll always love you as my brother.

(Hideo hugs the protagonist.)

Hideo (If romanced): I love you dude.

(Hideo kisses the protagonist on the cheek.)

Hideo: Now come on we got two more laps!

Event Seven:

(Open on the duo outside a mental health institute the player can find in the city)

Hideo: Sorry the therapy session ran long.

Protagonist: A: It's for the best. you're healing. (Best choice.)

B: Way to leave me hanging man. (Bad choice.)

Hideo (A): Thanks man I needed to hear that.

Hideo (B): Whatever dick bag.

Hideo: So, I've been like, worried man.

Text Box: Hideo seems nervous.

Protagonist: (Appears to speak.)

Hideo: I... I wanna get back on the track team but when they kicked me off they stopped talking to me and I just... I miss them man.

Protagonist: A: They care about you. (Best choice.)

B: It's worth a shot. (Good choice.)

Hideo: I hope so...

Thanks man, for being there for me. I'm meeting them after school soon. Back me up OK?

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Hideo: Thanks man. Enough of that shit though let's run and have some fun!

(Fade to black.)

Event Eight:

(Open on Hideo meeting with a student in red shorts and a tank top outside the school as James approaches.)

Track Team Captain: So... you wanna come back to the team?

Hideo: If you'll have me.

Hideo (If romanced): Me and my boyfriend here.

Hideo (If not romanced): Me and my brother here.

Hideo: I understand if you guys still hate me but-

Track Team Captain: Hate you!?! Hideo no! We never... We only kicked you off because running with your eating disorder was dangerous! You are, and always have been, my friend.

Hideo: Then... why didn't you just tell me that?

Protagonist: A: For your own good. (Good choice.)

B: Because you needed help. (Best choice.)

Track Team Captain: Yeah man! We just... didn't know how to help you. Now, assuming you are getting better and-

Hideo: Dude, trust me, I'm doing far better. Look at this weight I've put on. I look like an actual person now.

Track Team Captain: Alright then. That true James?

Protagonist: (Nods.)

Track Team Captain: OK then, come on, we're meeting soon and can't be late. Let's roll boys!

(Fade to black as the trio run off.)

(Open on the two sitting by the lake.)

Hideo: Man life is good. Isn't it?

Protagonist: (Nods.) 

Hideo: You really had my back in all of this. Thank you.

Protagonist: A: Return the favor some time. (Bad choice.)

B (If romanced): I love you of course I got your back.

B (If not romanced): It's what brothers do man. I'll always love you as my family.

Hideo (A): I'm getting to that dude.

Hideo (B): I love you too man.

Hideo: My point is, I want you to know, I got your back, and when you wanna tell me what happened back in the U.S., you can. OK?

Text Box; Maybe you can tell him...

Hideo: (Stands up.)

Anyways, that's enough sappy stuff. Let's run on home.

(The duo run out of frame.)

(Hideo will now take a fatal blow for James West.)

Event Ten:

(Open on the duo in James's room.)

Hideo: Hey man so, what did you wanna talk about?

Protagonist: (Begins to speak.) 

(Screen flashes red. when things return James is shaking his head.)

Hideo: Whoa! Dude! Breath. In, and out man.

Protagonist: (Appears to be hyperventilating.)

Hideo: Man, listen to me OK? I get there's some stuff you went through back then but... You clearly can't tell me yet. I know you want to, but something is stopping you. Don't force it. When you can tell me, I'll be right here man. 

You OK?

Protagonist: (Calms down. Nods.)

Hideo: You helped me be a better person, and I'll gladly return the-
