Chapter 12: Back on Track
The Submarine flew forwards, steered expertly by Finn. He navigated through the huge Father Time statues, never once coming close to crashing.
Emily, Roger and Blue helped each other clear up the mess of upturned control panels and bits of metal that were on the floor. "You were so great though." Said Blue to Emily. "You were just on the clock and bang! We were going forwards again!" Emily smiled proudly. It was the first time she felt like she had really done something great.
Soon everything was back to normal inside the Submarine except for a few scratches here and there. Blue's ankle was still sore as was Roger's head but at least he didn't have concussion or anything. Finn called out "I think we're getting near the end of the Sea of Time now!" And everybody crowded around a porthole to look.
The sky appeared much lighter now and the huge statues were now just tall silhouettes in the distance. "I can't actually believe we made it!" Grinned Roger. He turned to Emily and clapped her on the back. "And it's all thanks to you!"
"The question is..." said Finn "where do we go now? We've made it through the Sea of Time but that doesn't mean we're there yet..."
"Stop rushing!" Complained Roger "I mean, what's the point in being serious all the time? We've made it this far bye ourselves... surely the submarine can help us now?"
Suddenly a long beeeeeep sounded out from a control panel near Finn. "It's the printing thingy! It's working again!" The other three ran over to look. The small, piggy-bank like hole that had previously printed advice for Roger, Finn and Emily was dispensing another piece of paper.
Roger picked it up and read it.
"Hey guys!" Was the simple message printed on the tiny piece of paper. Blue couldn't help but laugh at the informality of it.
"I see you have a new friend" - another message bleeped out of the machine. "Well, here is my advice to you. You made it through the Sea of Time but..."
There was an awkward silence and a few scratching noises before it started printing again.
"Sorry - technical difficulties... anyway, what you need to do is follow the path of the original Beatles"
Roger looked irritated. "Yeah, we kind of already had that idea! That's what we're doing?"
The submarine started printing again: "Yes, but the Beatles had a Boob."
Blue laughed out loud but shut up quickly when she realised the others were being deadly serious. Finn looked at her curiously. "Don't you know what a Boob is?" He asked.
Blue laughed sarcastically. "No? Am I supposed to?"
"It's a very rare... animal" Finn explained. "We've never seen one but they are real. The stories say they are extremely intelligent."
"They sound stupid."
"They're really not! They're... umm... quite small, have brown fur and are really important to the people in Pepperland. They've helped us out big time in the past."
"How?"
"Well... the most famous was Jeremy Hilary Boob Ph.D... he helped The Beatles save Pepperland 50 years ago." Finn turned away from Blue to the control panel. "Erm..." he asked awkwardly to the machine "you don't think you could bring up a picture of a Boob to show Blue could you?"
There was a strange whizzing noise and a picture flickered onto one of the screens. A squat, jolly-looking animal appeared on the screen. It was chestnut brown in colour and looked extremely fluffy. It had an extremely comical face - light blue with bright pink ears and a large nose and mouth. It appeared to be smiling and looked laughably like it was wearing eye shadow.
"That's a Boob." Said Roger to Blue. "And we are going to find one."
