Tony/Pepper: Lemon Meringue

Pepper had just wanted to make a pie. Ambrosia had wanted to help. Tony had wanted to "sample" everything, and had been kicked out of the kitchen.

"At least let me torch the fluff!" Tony called from the hallway.

"If you behave!" Pepper called back.

"Yeah, because he's so good at that," Ambrosia muttered.

"You're grounded when I get back in there!" Tony called from the hallway.

Pepper and Ambrosia roll their eyes and start pulling utensils and ingredients from the cupboards and fridge. The pie was easy to make, and the fluff was done quickly. They fixed it on top of the pie and tried to decide whether or not they should let Tony torch it.

"He hasn't come in to bother us," Pepper said.

Ambrosia shrugged, "Yeah, but what about all the time he spent sulking outside the kitchen?"

"He eventually went down to the lab."

"Only when you glared at him from across the room."

Pepper sighed, "I think we can let him torch it. Besides, I don't think I have anything to torch it with other than whatever he has."

Ambrosia chuckled, "Seriously, Mom? You were going to make a lemon meringue pie without having a pastry torch?"

Pepper sighed lovingly and rolled her eyes. She picked up the pie and they walked down to Tony's lab.

"You can torch it, Dad!" Ambrosia called.

Tony grinned and grabbed one of his gauntlets. He turned the repulsor on, just low enough that it gave off some heat but wouldn't go off. Pepper watched warily as he started to torch the fluff. Ambrosia was impressed. The golden-brown colour of the marshmallow fluff was nearly perfect.

"That's really good Dad!"

Tony looked up to grin at his daughter, and Ambrosia grinned back.

"Tony! Watch what you're doing!"

Tony looked down, and realized he was burning a hole in the pie.

"Shit!"

He jerked his arm away, which caused the repulsor to go off. The pie splattered, and so did the cart under it.

Luckily, the flying pieces of metal didn't hit anyone. But they all got a fair splash of pie filling. Pepper looks at Tony in disbelief, and it's starting to turn into anger when Ambrosia starts cracking up. It has Tony grinning, despite himself, and Pepper can't help but smile along. Ambrosia's clutching her stomach and leaning on her father so that she doesn't fall over .

"Jesus, Dad," she says through the giggled. "Only you."

Pepper thought she saw Tony's ears turn a little red as he mumbled, "Shut up."
