5. The Good News
2 days later
Rishabh was back home with a fractured leg and 2 stitches in his arms. Luckily the accidents didn't create a lot fuss for the family, Rishabh and the driver both were out of danger.
Riddhima had finally posted the letter after returning from The hospital, blaming herself for her brother's condition.
"I am sorry yaar." She mumbled keeping her bag of the chair with a thud, and sat on the bed looking at his brother who hissed while trying to sit properly.
"Oh idiot, it's okay. Me, the great Rishabh has forgiven your deeds an-" he stopped in between recieving a tap on his head my his mother.
"Don't listen to him, it's not your fault Riddhima. Now don't repeat this again." She scolded her, while Riddhima nodded her head.
"Ma how can you give birth to an idiot and a super smarty at the same time? 100 times I said her she wasn't the one who was driving the other car, but her brain has refused to listen." Rishabh said.
"Mm-hmm always fighting. I know who is idiotic and who is smart, get it? By the way Riddhima, there is a letter from Delhi for you. Won't you share the news with us?" She said.
Riddhima's face instantly glowed up looking at the smile of Rishabh and Rutuja. She rushed to her room, crashing into the door she stumbled reaching to her table. The envelope was kept safely beneath one of her books, she hurriedly opened the envelope but her excitement was making her unable to take the letter out of the envelope.
After shaking envelope several times, it finally came out. Riddhima sat on the bed, closed her eyes and sighed before opening it.
Starting with the last line, she squealed seeing the stamp of 'accepted'. She jumped, cried in happiness, danced, and ran out straight to the next room.
" Ma ma ma you won't believe! I got selected. I can't believe it.. oh my god I-" Riddhima was cut by Rutuja's tight hug, Riddhima smiled and sat next to Rishabh.
"Don't tell me you got your course for masters in idioticness." Rishabh said and recieved a smack for Riddhima, who instantly stick her tongue out realising he is still hurt.
"Ok.." Riddhima said with a deep breath "I am selected for B.A in journalism.. and guess what? My dream college! Delhi!" Riddhima jumped in excitement and sat back on her place.
"But I am scared." Riddhima said, out of the blue.
"Eeh, I was expecting this. Dadima right?" Rishabh said and Riddhima nodded, while Rutuja laughed.
"Come on mumma, you know she doesn't even let me go out of the house." Riddhima whined.
"But no one is stopping you this time.. it's a matter of your whole life, so you need to stand for your choices." Rutuja said and left the room.
"And you? What are you going to do here? Don't you want to get a degree or something?" Riddhima scolded Rishabh, who grinned.
"I also got my IIT in Kanpur, was going to tell everyone that day but accident was more important, wasn't it?" Rishabh said and Riddhima gasped hugging him tightly.
"My little engineer." Riddhima teased Rishabh while he smacked her, resulting in Riddhima doing the same making him hiss on his wound, while dadaji watched everything happening from the door and smiled.
Coming back to her room Riddhima realised that one more letter was kept there, she opened it and as expected, it was the one who helped her. She smiled lightly and opened the letter.
To Riddhima,
No need for a thanks, it was my pleasure helping you. And if you get selected do have some laddoos as a treat, I would like to share the happiness. You make me feel old with that 'Ji'. Do tell me if I can help you with something, who knows; maybe we can fix each other?
Make sure the letter you send replying to this one does not get lost, because I had to dig out this letter in the post office.
Vansh
Riddhima chuckled reading the letter, and bit her lips thinking what to reply. She decided not to write anything right now but celebrate her half-victory. The next half is all about fighting her grandmother, creating chaos and then moving to Delhi.
She laughed imagining herself leaving the home with bags, while her grandmother was shouting from behind but she didn't pay heed waving bye to everyone.
"Riddhima! Can you go and buy some vegetables please! We are going to be out of them soon." Rutuja's voice broke her thoughts.
"Yes I am coming!" She shouted back, looked herself in the mirror and went downstairs.
"Madam auto?" A rickshaw driver came infront of her all of a sudden maing her flinch.
"I just stepped inside!" Riddhima said moving ahead to the vegetable stall.
"Ladoos" she murmured looking at the sweet shop and rushed inside happily.
"Bhaiya one ras malai please! And pack one kilo motichoor ke laddoo" Riddhima ordered whatever came in her mind.
Slurping her ras malai, she watched the shopkeeper keeping laddoos in the box. She hurriedly ate it paying the bill and left.
"Now I will not get an auto" she murmured looking at the road, and decided to walk ahead.
Riddhima smiled walking thinking how desperate Vansh was for the her letter, he went to the post office to get it! She decided she would note this down, and of course thank him again.

Your response is important for me to know how you feel about it. It's not a target by my side but my minimum need to know your thoughts.
