At the moment I was standing in the lobby of a rather nice hotel; it was called Hotel Valencia Riverwalk. It had sort of a Japanese theme to it, but it was beautiful to say the least. After Optimus and I left the restaurant, he had asked me what I wanted to do for the night. In all honesty, I was more worried about him. I wasn't sure whether or not his kind slept or not, but I wanted to be generous, so I suggested we stop for the night. I was quite tired as well, so it worked out perfectly fine for me, and, well, the both of us, I guess.

Just like the dinner situation, Optimus refused to let me pay for the room. No matter how hard I tried, he still wouldn't budge. It left me to gaze in the background while Optimus chatted up the hotel manager guy. I just hoped we wouldn't be here long. From what I could hear of their conversation, the rooms here were almost $300 a night and I honestly did not want him to pay for three days worth of that.

"Bree," Optimus called, using my 'code name' so I wasn't recognized. I looked away from the hanging chandeliers and looked at him. He gestured me over to him and I happily strolled over.

"So, you got a room?" I asked as we began walking towards the elevator. He nodded and I pressed the elevator button. "You really don't need to pay for me, Optimus. I've spent three months providing for myself. I can assure you that it's okay," I told him as the two of us stepped onto the elevator.

He pressed the button to the sixth floor and looked at me. "I'm aware of the situation, but I can't let you continue. You need to save your money," he told me.

I just frowned and soon enough the elevator door reopened. I stepped onto the sixth floor, pulling my duffle bag back onto my shoulder. Optimus began walking towards the end of the hallway and I followed closely behind him. He soon approached one of the doors and stuck the key card in its slot before pushing the door open; for an alien robot, he seemed to be very intelligent in the field of human technology.

The hotel room was a nice size though. It consisted of two large queen-sized beds, just like any other normal hotel room had. The only difference was that this room was much nicer than the ones I had stayed in. It had a kitchen and a fairly large bathroom as well. I walked further into the room and sat my bag down beside the flat screen TV on top of the dresser.

"This is really nice," I stated.

Optimus chuckled. "I believe that's what I was going for."

I just smiled and unzipped my duffle bag. After taking out a pair of black sweats and a plain black t-shirt, I headed for the bathroom. Thankfully, I had taken a shower this morning before I left my motel. I was feeling exceptionally lazy at the moment and I was definitely not up for scrubbing myself for the next thirty minutes. Also, I still had things I needed to talk to Optimus about.

Once I was changed into my night clothes, I headed back out into the main room. Optimus was laying down on one of the beds flipping through the TV channels with a rather disgruntled look on his face. The sight almost made me want to laugh. He acted more human than alien, but I guess that had to do with the fact that he's spent the past few years surrounded by nothing but humans. He seemed to be well adapted to most of our humanly/American customs, one of which included frustratedly surfing through the TV channels while trying to find a program to watch.

I walked over to his bed and jumped on, sitting down in front of him and crossing my legs. He gave me a look before sitting the remote down on the small table that separated the two beds. "Is there something you need?" he asked me with a chuckle.

I nodded. "I need you to tell me what you know."

"In regards to what?" he inquired, a confused look on his face.

"Well, first, I need you to tell me what you know about my abilities. What do you know that I can do?" I asked him.

"I can not tell you specifically what you can do, but from what I've seen you do, you're quite powerful, Brenna. You're also a danger to our species as a matter-of-fact," he told me.

I raised a brow. "How so?"

"There aren't very many humans on Earth who can pulverize our alloy with just a wave of their hand. There's the slightest possibility that you're the only human besides your grandmother to possess this particular ability, whatever this ability is," he informed me.

I knew that I could do all kinds of weird things with metal and other materials, but I didn't think I could put a dent in these alien beings, let alone eliminate their existence.

"I would never hurt you though," I assured him.

He smiled at me. "I'm more than aware of that."

"Well, what do you know about the issue regarding the death of my family? You said you know who did it. Will you tell me?" I asked softly, a sad smile on my face.

"The Decepticons were the ones who took your family away from you, Brenna. I truly do wish that I could have been there to put a stop to it. I am so sorry," he told me.

"But, why did they do that? What have I done to them?" I squeaked. The warmness, and the wetness, could be felt on my face. I quickly wiped away my tears and focused on Optimus.

"They were on a mission to retrieve you, and your family got in the way of it, I presume. Your father wasn't able to completely stop the hack. They didn't get all of the information he had on you, but they managed to acquire majority of it. I assume their purpose is to wield you as a potential tool in the war or eliminate you, given the catastrophic strength of your abilities," he answered me.

I sniffed and wiped away more tears. So, the Decepticons were what my mind had been sensing for the past three months or so? In a way, I was relieved to finally know who my pursuers were, but I was also angry knowing who was actually behind my family's murder. In a way, it was my fault they were dead. Had I not mysteriously been given this stupid ability in the first place, the Decepticons wouldn't have wanted to come after me in the first place.

"This isn't fair," I nearly screamed. I let out a loud sob and threw my hands up to my head, tightening my hold around the many strands of hair in my hands.

All I wanted was for this feeling to go away; I wanted my life back. For the past three months I have felt nothing but pain, and it seemed to me that I would continue to feel it. Day by day, I was being pulled deeper and deeper into this life-sucking abyss, but no matter how hard I tried to escape it would pull me back under. My aloneness was beginning to completely consume me and I hated it. I needed my family with me; I needed to be rid of this stupid "ability" forever. All it has caused me is an endless amount of emotional pain and I just didn't know how much more of it I could take.

I squeezed my hair follicles tighter, the sound of glass shattering echoed behind me. There was the possibility that I had just shattered a mirror or busted a light fixture, but I didn't care. All I cared about at the moment was just how fucked up my life had gotten.

"Brenna," Optimus warned. I could feel the bed shift; he was leaning toward me, but I quickly removed my hands from my head and jumped up from the bed. With a frustrated groan, I walked over to stand in front of the TV and before long I began pacing back and forth.

"I didn't ask for this. All I want is my family back. It's all my fault they're dead. They're dead because of me, because of this stupid ability that I never asked for. This isn't fair!" I yelled, clenching my fist. Another loud burst could be heard and I looked up. Through my tears, I could very faintly make out the now-dark kitchen; I had destroyed the light in there as well.

I growled and threw my hands up. With one simple swing, the numerous pots and pans that hung on their rack flew across the small kitchen, hitting the wall and the floor with very loud clanks. That didn't help to calm my anger though.

I let out another sob and placed my hands back on my head. Optimus immediately got up from the queen-sized bed and walked over to me, grasping my upper arms with his hands. An immediate sense of comfort flowed through my body and I dropped my hands, though the tears never stopped. I looked up at him through my teary eyes. His expression held nothing but sorrow and worry. My bottom lip trembled and before I knew it, he was pulling me into his arms. I wrapped my arms around his holoform's waist and just cried. My anger had now thankfully ceased, but my sadness hadn't, of course.

"It hurts so bad. I miss them so much," I cried into his shirt.

My statement couldn't have been truer though. I missed my family more than anything in the world. I missed the way my baby sister would greet when I came home from school before running her little toddler-self back into the kitchen to retrieve her and mom's daily experiment for me to try; I missed the stupid cake and flour fights my mom and I used to have. I missed the way my brother and I used to wrestle, and I even missed when he got too aggressive and would actually wind up hurting me, only to hug me and assure me that he loved me more than anyone. And, of course, I missed the way my dad and I would spend every night together when he was home. All we would do it watch scary movies and eat Burger King or some other fast food. Honestly, I just missed everything about every single one of them and it pained me to know that I would never have that again.

"I know that it does, Brenna. And I'm so very sorry that you have to endure so much pain at such a young age," Optimus responded softly.

I choked back a sob and pulled away from him, wiping the salty liquid out of my eyes. "I appreciate your apology, but it most certainly is not your fault," I assured him.

He only frowned. "My apologies."

I almost wanted to laugh at his apologetic nature, but I refrained from doing so.

"I know that I only met you earlier today, but I just want to say thank you for being here for me. Thank you for keeping me safe and giving me somebody to talk to. I've been alone for far too long, and you don't understand just how relieved I am to finally have someone."

"I am more than happy to be accompanying you, young one. And I can promise that as long as I am with you, nothing bad will happen to you. I will see to it," he told me.

I smiled at him and sat down on my bed. "Thank you," I whispered.

"You're more than welcome, Brenna."

"I do have a question though," I stated. This had sort of been playing in the back of my mind since he told me he was a freaking Autobot. I still couldn't believe it, actually.

"What may that be?" he inquired.

"I was wondering if I was going to get to meet the other Autobots as well?"

He seemed slightly puzzled. "If that is what you wish."

"When though? I don't want to inconvenience you," I said slowly.

He chuckled. "You wouldn't inconvenience me, Brenna. Originally, I had arrangements with Colonel Lennox to meet at the base in your country's capitol after I had managed to retrieve you. I had planned to leave this building tomorrow or the next day, depending on your well-being, of course."

"That's perfectly okay with me. Will the other Autobots be there too?" I asked curiously.

He nodded. "There is a very strong possibility they will be present."

I smiled. "Sounds good." I let out a yawn and Optimus chuckled.

"Go ahead and sleep, Brenna. I'll be here when you wake," Optimus told me.

I just smiled once more and snuggled down into my blankets. A frown came over my face when I realized I hadn't switched the light off though. Being the lazy teenage girl that I am, I opened my hand and raised it to the two lamps sitting on either side of the dresser, only to have a large hand clamp it shut. I looked up at Optimus and frowned.

"I'd rather you not," he chided before letting me go. I sighed and watched as he walked over to turn the lights off manually and snuggled back into my comforter once it was dark.

"Goodnight, Optimus," I chirped.

"Goodnight, young one."

Before long I was drifting off into a strangely peaceful sleep.
