Chapter 28: The gap between two planets

“Jungkook…” Repeated Lee-Young as she stood there, expecting Jungkook to stay calm. It was like at that very moment, she wanted to fall in love with him like before. “How have you been-”

“How I've been?” Jungkook snapped in a deep and bothered tone to his voice. “You… Ignored my calls and text messages and now ask my how I've been?” The boy complained as he slowly rose the noise cancelling headphones over Jimin's sensitive ears. By there, Jungkook approached the woman and stood in front of her. All Jimin heard was his own breathing as he gazed at Jungkook fold his arms in front of Lee-Young.

“What did you not understand about a break?” Questioned Lee-Young and looked worried. She just didn't want to argue anymore, but at this moment. Every little thing ticked Jungkook off because he now realized that Lee-Young barely returned the gratitude and attention he gave her blindly.

“Really? Over the many calls I sent for the past week, you still want to ignore me? What if something happened to me and you wouldn't know?!” Jungkook shot back as Lee-Young's eyes began to gleam in tears right after. “We're supposed to be together and if you loved me enough you would talk it out and not go into break.”

“But at times you don't want to talk! You throw it aside like nothing and you leave things alone as they were. You never fix them! I had to take a break from you because I just couldn't handle it. We've been fighting over such a little thing but it meant so much to me. I bet you treat him better than me… And don't you even dare to tell me to shut the fuck up because I have reasons to get upset. You talk about Jimin like he's the only one you've ever known! I was there for you ever since the first day of college but you still toss me aside when you want to talk about Jimin.” Lee-Young argued. It was at this moment, many other people glanced their way and Jimin was standing there to endure the secondhand embarrassment he had from the couple's argument.

“So I guess I'm the one in the wrong just for being interested in Jimin. Lee-Young, you knew how much I looked up to him! How much I wanted to see him. If you want to complain about Jimin, why don't you stop me on the times I go for hours talking about the stars? Why don't you complain about the stars taking all my attention?”

“L-Listen! It's not about the stars. It's you! You seem so different now, I had to stop seeing you for a while. Jungkook, you've gotten so cold towards me, I know I shut you out, but you did the same to me when you went to work and talked to Jimin for hours! Taehyung told me all about it and I couldn't help but to feel ignored. Are you really going to blame me for acting like this? I'm your girlfriend remember?! I'm only human! I don't want to fight with you because I hate it when we fight… I want things to go back to where they were. How happy we were for those two years. Please?” Lee-Young asked as Jungkook tilted his head and kept his darting glare on the girl.

“If you loved me… You wouldn't ever tell us to take a break. Why didn't you come and talk to me? You should know that if it meant a lot to you, I wouldn't throw it aside. But guess what? Now I feel like walking out of this argument and leaving things as they were!” Jungkook rose his voice as Jimin then moved up to grab Jungkook's hand back.

“P-People are staring, Mr. Jeon. I don't like it… Please stop fighting.” Jimin said nervously and trembled from the gazes of everyone looking at the three now.

“Then move.” Jungkook told Jimin but, the older couldn't hear him. Jungkook then focused back onto Lee-Young as Jimin was frozen in place and felt as if a whole crowd monitored his every move. Jimin just couldn't focus at all and didn't hear a word they said. It was like he was in space once again, everything seemed distant and his anxiety doubled. This only caused Jimin to look down at the ground and tear up as his face got red through everyone's curious stare. He couldn't move at all and that's why he stood there longer to struggle. It was like the weight of his astronaut suit weighed him down like before.

“Jungkook… I don't… I don't think I want to fight anymore.” Lee-Young told the boy as Jungkook folded his arms and let out a scoff.

“What do you want then?” Jungkook asked and by there Lee-Young let out a sigh and dried her own tears.

“We're no good for each other… Let's break up…” Lee-Young finally said and Jungkook stood there in place with that small part of him that wanted to stay with Lee-Young, broke into smaller fractals. However, the boy stood there; eyes gleaming with tears ready to fall and his nose growing red from the anger and tears just waiting to spill out.

“It'll be my pleasure.” Jungkook whispered and then backed up to notice Jimin was in soft sobs and his face was red. By now, Jimin was crouched in front of the cart and Jungkook looked around to see the crowd watching and taking pictures of the famous astronaut the whole time. “Fuck…” Jungkook hissed in his head. Crouching down to Jimin's level and hugging him while Jimin rested his little head over the boy's shoulder. His eyes were flowing with tears streaming down his face so quickly and once he took a glimpse up, he watched Lee-Young lock her teary eyes onto his. Jimin was afraid and knew Lee-Young felt jealous. In Jimin's mind, he didn't hear when Lee-Young and Jungkook broke up for good. Now, Jungkook was holding Jimin in his arms for comfort and softly caressing the man's, soft and brown hair.

“J-Jungkook… Jungkook…” Jimin whispered and dried his own tears racing down his face. By there, Lee-Young knew why Jungkook didn't cry, it was because she was able to catch the real reason as to why he seemed so distant. It was all Jimin and all she could do at the moment, was to leave them as they were now. She no longer had Jungkook and Jungkook no longer had her. She was no longer the one in his universe, Jimin took that title and all she could do was live with it now.

“I'm here…” Jungkook assured and slowly pulled the older's headphones down. Jimin was silent right after, he told Jungkook not to get too loud and only now, Jimin was left trembling from the fear. “I'm sorry…” The boy continued and after that, a few employees moved the crowd away from Jungkook and Jimin. “Everything will be okay…” Jungkook assured and noted how quiet and scared he was. “Let's get things-”

“I-I… I told you… I told you…” Jimin repeated and looked up at the younger. “Why did you hug me? She must be jealous…”

“I'm no longer with Choi Lee-Young… After two years, we just didn't click.” Jungkook told the older and stood up to the bring the weak boy into his arms. “Come on, Mochi. Don't just stay there. I'm the only one around you, okay? I'm the only one in your life now.”

“Mr.Jeon… Are you okay?” Jimin asked and became worried about Jungkook's feelings.

“Never better. Let's get some groceries together.” The boy seemed to take this very lightly like he didn't care about the relationship for two years. Although, deep down, he was broken, he was shattered and lost. Even if he was a lost planet, him and Lee-Young carried such a far distance from each other now and it hurt him deep down. It was like he walked around with a knife pushed through his own chest and walked around with blood rushing down his wound like he was fine. Jimin knew Jungkook wasn't okay, but the boy did such a good job hiding it; Jimin was mostly left conflicted on Jungkook's real emotions.

After their trip to the grocery store, the two finally made it back to the house. Jimin then dropped onto the couch and panted while pressing his own head against the cushion. “I… I really hate going outside..”

“You just love to drop onto the couch after a long morning and leave all the groceries to me. Ah, that's fine, Mochi.” Jungkook said into a chuckle as Jimin still thought how easy Jungkook took this. “Would you like me to cook right now?”

“Mr. Jeon, are you okay? I… already asked but, I'm worried now. You… make it seem as if nothing changed in your… life. Talk to me about it, Mr. Jeon…”

“No. I've never felt any better.” Jungkook chuckled to himself and took the groceries into the kitchen. “I'll make us some ramen and steamed vegetables with boiled beef too. Sit right there I'll make it for you, then we can bake cookies during the rain storm. I think that will seem great. Won't it?”

“Y-Yes…” Jimin answered, laying against the cushions of the couch and watching Jungkook make his way into the kitchen to prepare the meal. Jungkook stood in the kitchen, his mind was silent on the inside and out. The only thing that kept him from thinking of how things unfolded at the grocery store, was filling his heart up with Jimin and keeping his mind busy. Even if he had tears to shed every second, he felt as if he was going to crack if he didn't hide it from Jimin.

“Jimin… Only Jimin… I should be happy, he's with me now and I can have him… I can kiss him, hug him, and call him mine.” Jungkook whispered to himself and just before he could put on the apron. He let out a sigh and placed his hands onto the counter before him.

“Mr. Jeon.” Jimin interrupted and poked his head from around the corner to smile at Jungkook. “Do you need some help? I know you didn't want any help… But, I just couldn't stay… away.” Jimin giggled and moved in closer to the boy. Instantly making Jungkook glance up and let out a chuckle once Jimin came in to cheer him up. “Where's my apron?” Questioned the older as Jungkook smiled and tossed a white apron over at the man that hung on knob of the kitchen drawer.

Of course, Jimin knew what he alone was doing. He tried his best to stand by Jungkook so the younger could be able to talk whenever he needed Jimin. But for now, Jungkook was distracting himself seconds before the pain. As the two got together for that day, they began to cook the meal together like always. Right when Jimin began to stir the pot of boiled noodles, Jungkook adjusted the black apron around his own waist before gazing at the backside of Jimin. Watching the one he adored; boiling the noodles into the steel pot before him.

“Mochi, you have a bad habit of going against the things I say.” Jungkook whispered and suddenly hugged Jimin from the back. From there, he held Jimin along the waist and rested his head over Jimin's shoulder so calmly. “I said I was going to make you something, but you always find a way to me… don't you?”

“I wanted to make sure… You'll be alright. Just know that I'll always be here. Talk to me whenever you feel like it.” Jimin told Jungkook and looked back. “I'd wait even longer until I know you're going to be alright. No need… to rush.”

“I'm perfectly fine, Mochi. I'm glad you care about how I feel, but I guess it doesn't really get to me. It's just a break up… Not the end of the world. Just because two planets grew distant between each other, doesn't mean everything else falls into oblivion. I'm perfectly fine.” Answered Jungkook and loosened his grip along Jimin's waist to guide his hands up to Jimin's. By there, he held Jimin's hands with his and stepped him away from the stove to look into his eyes. “As long as I have you here… I'll be far better than good. Please don't leave me, Jimin.” The boy whispered and by there, Jimin just knew Jungkook was burying his feelings away so he wouldn't have to show the bright star of his life, a weaker or darker side to his own moon.
