Chapter 1

The gentle breeze made the white curtains in the room flutter softly. The morning sunlight streamed in, illuminating the minimalist yet elegant interior.

Ngọc Hân slowly opened her eyes, blinking as she took in her surroundings. Where was she? This didn't look like her home at all.

At the foot of the bed, two men stood with their backs to her, talking quietly. The middle-aged man in a white doctor's coat said,

— The patient's physical condition is perfectly normal. The brain scans show no abnormalities.

The younger man beside him, tall and well-dressed in a suit, flipped through the medical report and frowned.

— Then why hasn't she woken up after a week? The doctor sighed.

— It's hard to say. I've gone over every test carefully. There's definitely no mistake.

Ngọc Hân tried to push herself up on her elbows. The sound of rustling sheets made both men turn around in surprise. Her voice came out hoarse and weak:

— Excuse me... why am I in the hospital?

She glanced around at the modern equipment surrounding her. There was only one bed — hers — in the room. A private suite. Definitely expensive. Great, another bill to worry about.

The doctor rushed over with his stethoscope.

— Heart rate is stable. That's wonderful, you're awake! You were hit by a car and have been in a coma for a week. How are you feeling now?

"Hit by a car?" The last thing she remembered was taking a shower after a long day, lying down to sleep, and then feeling suddenly unwell. She hadn't gone outside at all.

Tuấn Huy stood silently, watching her puzzled expression. He didn't rush to comfort her — just observed, his presence commanding and distant. Ngọc Hân felt uneasy. He was strikingly handsome, too perfect, too out of place. She stole a quick glance at him but didn't dare meet his eyes.

— I just feel a little heavy... that's all.

Knock, knock, knock — another man entered the room.

— Excuse me, the door wasn't closed, so I came in.

It was Cường, Tuấn Huy's assistant. He had just finished paying the hospital fees.

— Oh! Mrs. Phương, you're awake! — he exclaimed, startled to see his boss's wife no longer unconscious.

Mrs. Phương? Ngọc Hân blinked.— Phương?

- I'm sorry, you must have the wrong person. That's not my name.

The three men exchanged uneasy looks.Cường leaned closer to Tuấn Huy and whispered,— Boss, I think your wife's lost her memory after the accident.

Tuấn Huy frowned. Was she really suffering from amnesia... or just pretending?

The doctor began asking her a few questions.

— Mrs. Phương, do you recognize the two men behind me?

She shook her head.

— No. Where's my family? Do they know I've been in the hospital?

Cường quickly stepped forward to explain.

— Mrs. Phương, this is Mr. Tuấn Huy, your husband — my boss. Please, take a closer look.

Ngọc Hân's mouth fell open. Husband? That stunning man? Her mind spun in confusion.

— But... when did I get married? I swear, the last thing I remember was going to bed after taking a shower. How could so many years have passed?

Tuấn Huy's jaw tightened. Tuan Huy recalled the time she was hit by a car. He had someone arrest the driver who caused the trouble. He said she hired him to pretend to hit the car to scare him, but he didn't expect that at that time another car was driving recklessly across, causing both cars to lose control, leading to her being hit really badly. He suspected that she was currently pretending to have amnesia to avoid him exposing this plot.

Ngọc Hân, desperate for answers, looked up.

— I need to call my parents. Please, can I borrow a phone?

Tuấn Huy replied evenly,— I already informed your family when you were admitted. Unfortunately, they're traveling in Italy and can't come back right away.

— Traveling? In Italy? — She stared at him in disbelief. Her parents were working-class people; they could barely afford a short trip, let alone Europe. What on earth was happening?

— When I told them your condition was stable, they decided to continue their trip and will return next week.

Tuấn Huy thought to himself that his wife's family was surprisingly heartless. If his nominal wife's family treated her like that, then it was too kind of him to take her to the hospital and hire someone to take care of her.

Cường handed her a designer handbag.

— Mrs. Phương, here are your personal belongings — your phone and other items. Maybe you can contact them yourself.

Tuấn Huy turned to the doctor and asked if she needed to stay in the hospital for a few more days, and the doctor told her to stay and monitor herself at home. If she wanted to be more sure, she could do another test tomorrow and then leave the hospital. Even though she had lost her memory, her physical condition had completely recovered. After that, he didn't say anything more to her, and asked his assistant to go with him to the company to continue working.

Ngoc Han looked at Tuan Huy's attitude that was not like a husband visiting his wife in the hospital and was even more curious, quickly taking out the things in his bag. All of these things were strange. None of the things in the bag were hers. The phone wouldn't unlock with her usual password — yet it opened with facial recognition. Her heart raced. The photos inside showed a completely different woman — a glamorous socialite posing beside luxury cars and handbags.

Panicked, she ran into the bathroom and stared at her reflection. The face staring back wasn't hers. She screamed. Was this a dream? Was she still unconscious? The last thing she remembered was overwork, exhaustion, and collapsing after a late-night shower. Had she... somehow woken up in another person's body?

Then a voice — calm, almost apologetic — echoed in her mind:

— That's right. Unfortunately, due to our mistake you were in another person's body.
