2 month time lapse—

Over the two month time period, you grew both mentally and physically. For the majority of the time, you just sat back and watched the investigation, since you couldn't really do much.

It's been two months since I last saw Ryuk. I'm curious where he is... you sigh

You were looking forward to meeting up with Ryuk. Based on your past meeting with him, he seemed to start opening up to you a lot more. He also informed you a few things about the notebook after you gave him apples. The both of you talked as if you'd been friends for a while.

During this time, you often met with L and Light. L often seemed depressed. You tried to make him feel better, which, from your point of view, seemed to work. While Light continued the attempt to get Misa to leave him alone and get closer to you. L wasn't going to let that happen, interjecting at every slight remark Light would make towards you.

You and Misa stayed in the same room. You both got along surprisingly well. At first, the main topic between the two of you started off being about Light. You tried to encourage Misa to leave Light, but it was a futile attempt.

However, she slowly started talking about other things other than Light. Both you and Misa went to modeling shoots together. You did pretty well, considering this was your first job here. The photos that L submitted to the modeling agency were only photos of you working out, none of which included your face.

He did this since he didn't know if Kira would attempt to kill you. Despite this, you still became a slightly popular model.

Before you started, you had an idea that went surprisingly well. 

You offered to wear a mask when you modeled, which would cover the area around your eyes, leaving your mouth and nose visible.

The idea seemed bizarre to many, and was quickly put down. You tried to reason with everyone, letting everyone know the benefits of having more people support you since they would want to see your face. This would also benefit the company, so eventually they ended up agreeing.

After a few photoshoots, you steadily climbed the ranks. You weren't as popular as Misa, but you were getting there.

After the both of you arrive back at the headquarters,

"N/n!" Misa tugs on your arm, attempting to get your attention.

"Hm?" You look at Misa in confusion.

"I think..." Misa started off.

Before Misa could continue, Matsuda came running over towards the both of you.

"N/n!" Matsuda called out

Misa looks back, annoyed.

"Can't you see we were having a conversation!" Misa yelled at Matsuda

"What is it?" You asked Matsuda, annoyed.

"Can you please try to cheer up Ryuzaki? He seems happier when he's with you. Today he seems to be acting even more depressed, " Matsuda said.

"Seriously? You interrupted us for this? So what if he's sad, we were talking!" Misa told Matsuda.

"It's alright Misa, besides Light will be there," you informed Misa. Light would be with L regardless.

Misa looked like she had forgotten about him. It seems like she's slowly becoming more hesitant, which was a great sign of progress for you.

Regardless, Misa's infatuation with Light wasn't something that could be shaken off so easily.

"Okay, we'll go," Misa announced, grabbing your arm.

Slow steps.. I guess she's making more progress than I expected. I'll give her that.

After you both arrive, you see Light on the computer while L is spinning around In his chair

"Hey" you greet them.

"Light!" Misa skips over to Light.

Light looks at Misa with a slightly confused and annoyed reaction.

"Misa, N/n..what are you doing here?" Light asks

"I was checking in on Ryuzaki, since I heard he was acting more depressed" you sighed.

L looked up at you with a smile that was barely showing.

"Well, I was about to show Ryuzaki something about the case. Look, it can't be a coincidence," Light says, showing L and you the screen of dead CEOS.

"These are CEOS who died from heart attacks, which seem to be beneficial to Yotsuba's," Light said.

"What do you think? Based on this, I can tell that Kira is supporting Yotsuba. " Light informed L.

"It could be, but if what you're saying is true... then punishing criminals is not this Kira's intent," L said.

"Right, punishing criminals is a diversion for him, hiding the fact that it's helping his company," Light added.

"Are you feeling a bit more motivated now?" Light asked L with a gleam in his eyes.

"So me and Misa were here for nothing," you ask.

Both Light and L are staring at you and Misa.

"I've been meaning to ask for everyone's number here. I've never gotten anyone besides Light, "you sigh

Misa, seemingly unminding the comment about having Lights number, grabs your phone and puts in her number.

L glances over at your phone.

"Do you not have a permanent phone to use?" You question L.

"No, I can get one," L said quietly.

L informed Watari to get two of the newest phones, and they quickly arrived.

"Cool! Let me just get your nu-" Before you could finish, L motioned for you to come towards him.

You look at him, confused, but go towards him.

"Here, your phone is older." L says, putting the newest phone in your hand, while checking the new phone number and giving it to you.

"Wow... thank you!" You smile

Before you could thank L again, Mr. Yagami came walking into the room.

"Aizawa, Matsuda, if you wish to continue working on this case, you need to hand in letters of resignation to the NDA along with Mogi and me." Mr. Yagami informed the both of them.

"Like it or not, you cannot pursue Kira as a member of the police force anymore." Mr. Yagami told them both.

"Hold on chief-" Matsuda was about to talk

"If you continue to work with L you'll be fired." Mr. Yagami interrupted him.

"So then, chief, you're going to..."

"In a few hours, I'm not going to be your chief. We all have our own lives, so make your decision in a few hours." Mr. Yagami told the group solemnly

"That's true, especially if you've got a family to support." Matsuda said, sadly.

Aizawa looked conflicted.

"If you want my opinion, you'd be better off as a police officer." L offered this advice.

"I was alone when I started this case. Although I'm grateful to all of you staying with me, I know I can do this by myself," L said.

"I'll be sure to visit the police station and bring you Kira's head as a reward." L stated objectively.

That was hot.

You were looking at L with a slight smirk.

Light looks over and sees your thirst for L.

"Ryuzaki, as long as I'm alive, you won't be working on your own. You have my word on that. "Light quickly said

"That's right, I'll have Light working with me until we catch Kira," L said.

Both you and Misa stood there, doing nothing.

"So, me and Misa are here for what?" You question

"Misa is here since she is still a suspect in the second Kira. You are here because..." L started off before stopping.

"Uhm, because what?" you ask.

"..." the room was silent.

"Because I want you here." L said.

"Me too!" Light chimed in

"Yeah! I like you being here too, "Misa agreed.

You didn't know how to respond, so you simply smiled.

Aizawa coughed, putting the attention back on the topic.

"Please make your decision," L said.

"If you quit your job, you'll be unemployed. Even if we do catch Kira, you're going to be unemployed afterwards," Matsuda said.

"After that... I haven't really thought of that." Mr. Yagami told everyone

"I suppose after we catch Kira, I'll have to dust off my resume," Mr. Yagami told everyone with a smile.

"Count me in! I'm going to quit the police force and help catch Kira. I still have the job as Misa Misa and N/n's manager. ""Matsuda said happily

Aizawa stood still. Nobody could tell what he was thinking, except for you.

"Is there anyway I can keep my job and help you in my spare time?" Aizawa asked desperately.

"There isn't. If you remain an officer, please don't come back here," L said, having his back facing him.

"But you know, I won't leak any information." Aizawa tried to reason with L

"I won't be sharing any information." L interrupted

"You're free to pursue Kira on your own, but I don't see how it's fair for your family to give up your livelihood," L told Aizawa.

"It's as Ryuzaki said, no one will blame you." Matsuda encouraged Aizawa

"But the chief has a family too..." Aizawa said.

I forgot about Sayu! I need to visit her. I don't want her to end up as she did in the original plot.

"Our situations are completely different," Mr. Yagami said.

"...I'll be leaving now. I need to go do something," you said in a rush.

"Really? Right now? " Light asked.

"Yes, I'll be going on my own. I completely forgot about it, "you tell them before walking towards the exit.

"You-" L said

"I'm still allowed to leave, right?" You asked L.

"Yes but—" L tried to say something.

"Okay. Thank you, " you say, leaving quickly.

"Bye everyone, I'll be back later." You say goodbye.

I need to see Sayu. I also need a break from there.

You walk outside, but notice Watari following you.

"Can I help you?" You ask

"Ryuzaki asked me to drive you," Watari said respectfully.

"So you can keep tabs on where I am?" You scoff.

Watari stayed silent.

"I guess it's not your fault. Alright, can you drive me to the Yagami household?" You asked Watari with a grin, looking forward to when Watari would tell L

Watari looks slightly taken aback, before nodding his head and leading you to the underground facility with the cars.

"And this is all Ryuzaki's," you ask with a lip bite.

Watari looks at you slightly confused before nodding.

"Yes, these belong to Ryuzaki," Watari explains.

You look at all the cars with a smile plastered on your face.

"Which one would you like to ride?" Watari asked.

"Which ever," you say, "I won't be in there for a while."

Watari nods before opening the one closest to you. Watari opens the door, ushering you in.

"Thank you," you thank him before getting inside the car.

"Of course," Watari responds, slightly surprised by your politeness, but he manages to hide his reaction.

You look at the phone. Ryuzaki gifted you with a smile.

Watari looks at you through the mirror and speaks up.

"This is the first time I've seen Ryuzaki so happy," Watari said.

You look up with a blank expression.
