here we gooo..
warning: vv long
Taehyung and Jimin had arrived at the mall in Busan around 2:35. They were sitting inside the food court, sipping on smoothies.
Jimin was on his phone and Taehyung was looking around for none other than Jungkook. He wasn't nervous at all, which surprised Jimin when Taehyung told him.
Jimin was a little nervous, though. He's also meeting someone he's never met nor talked to. Taehyung said it wasn't a blind date, but Jimin knew better.
"Why don't you text him?" Jimin asked, setting his phone down on the table.
"I don't want to seem desperate, hyung." Taehyung answered, sipping his smoothie again.
"But you are..?" Jimin mocked him with a smirk playing on his lips.
Taehyung kicked Jimin in the shin under the table. The older hissed in pain and bent down to rub at his leg to soothe it.
Taehyung looked around again and there he was. He looked tall from afar, adorned in a black, plain t-shirt, black pants, and red and black Nike's. Taehyung knew it was Jungkook just from the boy's side profile. He looked amazing.
"Jimin he's here!" Taehyung informed his friend, who was still making sure his leg wasn't bruised.
Taehyung got up from his seat and quickly ran to Jungkook. He made sure Jungkook didn't see him as he ran straight for his back.
"KOOKIE!" Taehyung yelled as he jumped on Jungkook's back, making him stumble forward a little.
Out of instinct, Jungkook gripped onto Taehyung's thighs. Taehyung's legs were wrapped around his waist tightly and his arms secure around his shoulders, so he won't choke Jungkook.
"Angel?" Jungkook answered. Taehyung peered his head over Jungkook's shoulder so he could see.
"Your one and only."
"How do you know you're the only one I call angel?"
Taehyung laughed, showing off his rectangular smile. Jungkook didn't expect his smile to look so..perfect. He loved Taehyung's smile and wants to see it every day.
"Jungkookie, let my legs go!" Taehyung wiggled around on Jungkook's back trying to get down.
"No, stay up there," Jungkook said. "where's Jimin?"
"Where's Yoongi?"
"Bathroom."
"At the table. Onward my trusty steed!" Taehyung smacked Jungkook's butt and pointed towards his and Jimin's table.
"Hey, hands off!" Jungkook warned as he started walking.
"I mean I could, but why would I want to?" Taehyung smirked, feeling proud.
"Did you just quote Selena Gomez?"
"Yes I did."
"And, you're proud of it, aren't you?"
"Yes I am."
They reached the table and Jimin looked up with his eyebrows furrowed.
"Hyung, this Jungkook. Jungkook, this is Jimin hyung." Taehyung introduced them.
Jungkook bowed his head, saying a hello. Jimin doing the same.
"So, what are your intentions with my dongsaeng?" Jimin asked with narrowed eyes. Taehyung had finally got off of Jungkook's back, but into his lap.
Jungkook tried to push him off (Jimin was giving a mean death glare), but Taehyung insisted on staying in Jungkook's lap.
"Uhhhh...my only intentions are to be his friend, at the moment." Jungkook answered Jimin.
"What does that mean?" Jimin said loudly. His glare only got deadlier.
"Oh, hyung, shut up! You don't have to answer his stupid questions, Kookie." Taehyung said, leaning back onto Jungkook's chest and putting an arm around his neck.
"What the fuck, Jungkook? I was looking all over for you!"
The three boys all looked up at the new voice. Taehyung smiled at him, Jungkook rolled his eyes, and Jimin was in a daze.
"Hi! You must be Yoongi-ssi! I'm Taehyung!" Taehyung got off of Jungkook's lap and quickly pulled Yoongi into a hug.
Yoongi resisted the urge to push him off. He didn't want to make a bad first impression in front of the beauty with black hair.
So, he just patted Taehyung's head and smiled awkwardly. "Nice to meet you, Taehyung-ah. Jungkook's told me so much about you."
Taehyung pulled away and smiled his widest. It was the most beautiful thing Jungkook has ever seen. It was like, whenever someone mentioned Jungkook, Taehyung's eyes lit up and his smile only got so big. It made Jungkook feel warm inside.
"That's great! Oh!" He turned his and Yoongi's attention to Jimin, who had subtly been checking Yoongi out (Jungkook saw him from the corner of his eye). "Yoongi-ssi, this is my friend Jimin hyung. Hyung, this is the cutie I told you about."
Yoongi's face turned slightly red at the word 'cutie'. Jimin thought it was adorable.
"He most certainly is cute." Jimin complimented him, smirking all the while.
"Don't call me cute." Yoongi grumbled.
Jimin only chuckled and it was just then that Yoongi decided it was his new favorite sound.
"Well, you two lovebirds have fun! Bye, hyung, see you whenever!" Taehyung shouted as he dragged Kookie away from the two.
Once they were out of the mall, Taehyung let Jungkook lead the way. Which, was to his car. Well, it was actually Yoongi's car because Jungkook didn't want to use his.
"Okay, the first parlor we're going to is the most popular one."
"Uh-huh."
"Everyone goes here during summer, so it's always packed."
"Uh-huh."
"You're not listening, are you?"
"Uh-huh."
"Let's get married."
"Uh-huh."
"TAE!"
"Why are you yelling at me?!" Taehyung shouted.
"Because you aren't paying attention to me!" Jungkook stopped at a red light and looked at Taehyung.
Taehyung cowered back into his seat. "Oh...I'm sorry, Kookie."
"What's on your mind?" Jungkook started driving again, their destination coming into view.
"Nothing really. I'm just happy to be here." Taehyung smiled at the driver.
It was true. Taehyung is happy to be here, to finally be meeting his internet friend. Ever since the first day they chatted online, he's been wanting to meet Jungkook. Now that he's here, it all feels so surreal. Taehyung is in love with the feeling.
"You would tell me if something's wrong, right?"
"Of course I would. Now let's go get ice cream!" Taehyung hopped out the car along with Jungkook.
Since he was walking "too slow," Taehyung grabbed his hand and pulled him inside the parlor. As soon as they stepped inside the cold shop, Taehyung's eyes lit up. He was basically a kid in the candy shop, only the candy was ice cream.
Taehyung led them to the small windows that contained many different flavors of ice creams.
"What kind do you want?" Jungkook asked as they walked past the flavors.
"I want all of them, but who has money for that? I want vanilla bean and pistachio." Taehyung told Jungkook, not looking away from the ice cream.
Jungkook nodded and went to go order, but something tugged him back. He looked down at his hands and saw Taehyung's holding his. They were holding hands for awhile, but Jungkook didn't notice. He like the weight of Taehyung's hand in his. It made him want to hold his hand forever.
"Angel, you gotta let go of my hand." Jungkook stated, watching as Taehyung's lips moved while reading the ice cream's names.
"Huh? Oh, yeah. I'll go find us a table." Taehyung didn't let Jungkook's hand go until he was too far to reach.
After Jungkook had gotten their ice cream, there wasn't much conversation. It was a comfortable silence.
"So, what's your job like?" Jungkook asked.
"Ugh, why must you bring up work on my day off? It's whatever, I guess. My co-workers are meh, we don't talk to each other unless it involves works."
Jungkook laughed at that. "Must be hard. Has your ex came back?"
Taehyung tried not to tense up at the mention of Hoseok, but he failed. "Uh, n-no he hasn't."
Jungkook noticed how tense he was and felt bad for asking. He just didn't want his ex showing up again like that.
"That's good. Maybe he's left you alone finally. And, I'm sorry for asking."
Taehyung quickly shook his head, smiling small. "It's fine. Shall we go to the next parlor?"
Jungkook looked down at Taehyung's hands to find an empty bowl. He looked at his own and it was half full. He shrugged and nodded. They both got up to throw their trash away and left the shop.
-
They were at their 8th ice cream parlor and it was only 6:00ish. Taehyung was still going as Jungkook stopped after the 4th one. One man can only eat so much, Jungkook had said.
Taehyung was licking his spoon clean as he finished yet another bowl. This time he had peanut butter cup with rainbow sherbet. Don't judge, Taehyung likes to mix his ice creams.
"I'm almost jealous you can eat all this ice cream, and I can't. I really hate losing." Jungkook chuckles.
"Sucks for you," Taehyung teases. "besides, you didn't lose anything. I told you ice cream was the way to my heart."
Jungkook couldn't tell if Taehyung was being serious or not. He wanted to believe there was a hidden message behind the words, but Jungkook knew better.
"You indeed did." Jungkook smiled.
Taehyung's smile had slowly disappeared from his face, as he was in deep thought. He realized that it was a good time to tell him about Hoseok. He did promise to tell Jungkook.
Taehyung is only telling Jungkook because he trusts him. He wants Jungkook to know that he takes his relationships very seriously. He wants Jungkook to know that he doesn't like being hurt. He wants Jungkook to know a lot of things.
"Are you ready for story time?" Taehyung asked with a grin.
Jungkook was confused at first, but then remembered their previous conversations. "Only if you are."
And, Taehyung was.
"Hoseok. That was his name. We were together for 2 and a half years. I was so happy with him. You were right, we were the perfect couple. Almost too perfect. We never fought, had any disagreements, or anything like it. That's when I knew something was off. But, me being blindly in love, ignored it and stayed with him. It was about 10 months into our relationship when we started arguing. Hoseok was always so angry with me and I never knew why. He yelled at me, called me names, the lot. I never said anything back because I was scared. Then, he started yelling at me for not talking. That's when the abuse started," Taehyung took a deep, shaky breath before continuing.
Jungkook took ahold of Taehyung's hand, squeezing it lightly.
"It's okay, take your time, angel." Jungkook whispered, giving him an encouraging smile.
Taehyung could've sworn his heartbeat picked up in that moment.
"At first, it was a few slaps here and there. Then, it turned into punches, kicks, and sometimes burning. He stopped half-way into our first year. He said sorry and I forgave him. Oh boy, did I regret that. After I forgave him, he ignored me. The only time he needed me was to cook for him. And, those were the rare times he was ever home for more than an hour. When he did come home, he always had a different fragrance on him. Sometimes cologne, sometimes perfume. I still loved him. A-"
"Why did you still love him?! How did you still love him?! Taehyung, he cheated on you multiple times!" Jungkook exclaimed.
Taehyung's vision got blurry. "I know that! Love blinds you, Jungkook! I was so stupidly in love with him that I didn't want to leave. For the longest time, I thought he needed me. I thought that was why he hurt me, because he was in so much pain. Turns out he was perfectly fine. I'm glad I left before it was too late. Technically our wedding was supposed to be two months ago. I hate myself more and more every day because I still have the dumb ring. A month later he almost raped me, but Jimin stopped him. Him, Jin, and Namjoon knew what Hoseok did to me that day. I had kept it a secret for so long because he threatened me. My friends tried to talk me out of it, to get me to call off the engagement, to end everything. I just...couldn't. I had felt like I was already in too deep by that time. I stayed with him for another year. The beatings had gotten worse by then. He used more than his fists and feet and fire. I hated that I still loved him even though he stopped loving me. I left the house with all my stuff one day. Hoseok wasn't home again. I left him a note and highly doubt he read it. I stayed at Jimin's house and for a month, he called me twice. He didn't even care. I once told him that I swore I was going to leave his ass. Wanna know what he said? He said, "Even if you left, you'd just come crawling back since you're a lowlife slut." It's kind of funny, really," Taehyung paused to chuckle sadly. "he called me that. I always stayed home and never went out unless it was to go to the store or Jimin's. He even accused me of cheating once. I stayed at Jimin's too long and as soon as I stepped foot into the house, he slapped me. But, I'm still glad I left. I still sometimes get nightmares of him coming back and taking me away. Other nights are just painful memories. I'd wake up crying and in a cold sweat. That's why I always slept in Jimin's room. I would've slept in Namjoon's room, but he always had Jin over. Jin eventually moved in and is now sharing the rent, but that's a different story for another day."
Taehyung sighed deeply as he finished. He wiped the tears off his face and looked at the boy across from him.
Jungkook was speechless. He wanted to say sorry over and over again, but he didn't want Taehyung to think he's pitying him. He hates that someone would treat his angel like this. He didn't deserve it. Hoseok manipulated and brainwashed his angel. Jungkook wanted to beat the living shit out of Hoseok, but he knows that won't solve anything. He just can't quite understand why Hoseok hurt Taehyung when everything was fine in the beginning.
"I hate him for what he's done to you. You truly didn't deserve it. You didn't deserve an asshole like him. I want to kill him for this, but I won't. I wouldn't have treated you that way. I would've treated you like a prince. Better yet, a king. I would've put you on a pedestal. With him, you were the pedestal. What I'm trying to say is, is that you deserve better. You need better." Jungkook held Taehyung's hand tightly, not wanting to let go.
Taehyung smiled widely, more tears running down his face. "Thank you, Jungkookie. That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me. Whoever you date will be lucky."
Maybe you could be that lucky person.
"No problem. And hey, if you ever have a nightmare or whatever again, don't go to Jimin, just call me."
Taehyung laughed. "Sounds like someone's jealous."
"I'm not!"
"You were pretty quick to defend yourself, Kookie."
"No I wasn't!"
Taehyung just laughed again and got up from his seat to throw his trash away.
"Come on, I think we should head back to the mall before Jimin gets pregnant." Taehyung grabbed Jungkook's hand and pulled him up.
"We still have two more parlors to go to. Are trying to leave me already?" Jungkook asked as they walked outside to the car.
"Well, no. I guess Jin could take care of Jimin's child, unless Jimin moves here. Or Yoongi comes and lives with us. But then you'll be all alone here in Busan. If Yoongi comes and lives with us, just know that there's no room in my bed, but the couch is perfect for you." Taehyung patted Jungkook's shoulder after buckling his seatbelt.
Jungkook chuckled and shook his head. "That's okay, I'll just replace you as my best friend with the couch."
"Hey!"
-
Taehyung and Jungkook returned to the mall just before closing time. (It closes early on Wednesdays, Jungkook had said).
In front of the mall, Jimin and Yoongi sat at a bench. Making out. Like Taehyung had said.
"I swear I'm a psychic!" Taehyung yelled excitedly, causing the two boys to stop kissing.
"That you are, angel." Jungkook said.
"Come on Jimin, we gotta go. But, before we leave, are you pregnant? Because I need to know if Yoongi is going to stay with you or pay child support." Taehyung looked at Yoongi pointedly.
Yoongi was confused. One minute he's kissing a hot dude, the next he's being asked if he's paying child support. This is why Yoongi doesn't go out to places that aren't Jungkook's apartment.
Jimin, on the other hand, was swimming in embarrassment. He didn't want to know why Taehyung thought something like that. Really all they did was talk and kiss.
"Okay, first of all, Tae, I can't get pregnant. That was moronic of you. Second, what about you? Are you pregnant?" Jimin asked rhetorically.
"Ha, funny hyung. But, come on, I accidentally told mama Jin we'd be home by 9 and it's almost 8:30."
"How do you accidentally do that?" Yoongi asked.
"It's a habit of mine whenever I leave the house, but not for work."
Before Jungkook had the chance to ask where in the Sam heck does he go, Taehyung pulled him into a tight hug.
"Bye, Kookie. I had fun today. I hope we can do this again." Taehyung whispered.
"I had fun, too. I hope we can hang out again some time soon. See you later." Jungkook whispered back.
They hugged for awhile longer until Yoongi started complaining. They pulled apart and laughed. Taehyung pressed a quick kiss to Jungkook's cheek as a silent thank you.
Jungkook couldn't even ask what it was for seeing as Taehyung ran off to the car.
"BYEEEE KOOKIE!!" Taehyung yelled across the almost empty parking lot. Since he was looking back, Taehyung ran into a truck and fell backwards.
"Oh my god!" Jungkook yelled.
Taehyung jumped up and looked around. His eyes landed on Jungkook and he smiled. "I'M OKAY!! BYE GUYS!" he waved to Yoongi and Jungkook, then got in the car.
"CALL ME, LOSER!" Jimin yelled out the window as they drove past the front of the mall.
Yoongi gave Jimin the middle finger. He'll call him though.
"You've got one heck of a boyfriend, Jungkook." Yoongi commented as they walked to the car.
"I should say the same to you."
Yoongi thought that was fair enough so he didn't say anything. They got in the car and drove home. And by home they mean Jungkook's home.
