chapter treinta y cinco

um a bit of a time skip...?

Jungkook and Taehyung were walking around the city, no particular destination in mind. They had separated ways with Jimin and Yoongi after they ate lunch.

There was a strong urge - both of them felt it - to grab the other's hand in his. It wasn't like they didn't hold hands the first time they had met up. That one was coincidental. It would just be weird if they did it on purpose.

Although, from time to time their hands would brush. A spark went through Taehyung's arm whenever it happened. Jungkook's arm felt as if it were on fire - as if he were on fire.

"I'm sorry that I'm not talking." Taehyung had said quietly, but Jungkook heard him.

"It's okay, angel. The silence is comfortable."

Taehyung really liked that nickname. He tried not to blush at it, but we all know he couldn't help it.

"I'm guessing you like the nickname?" Jungkook asked, looking at Taehyung with a small smirk playing on his lips.

Taehyung playfully glared at him, then looked down at the ground. "Shut up." He mumbled.

"Do you mind if I hold your hand, angel?" Jungkook had finally asked.

Jungkook couldn't take it anymore. He needed to feel Taehyung's hand in his. That 'strong urge' was bothering him. Once he felt his angel's hand against his own, Jungkook would be fine.

Taehyung didn't say anything. He didn't even look up from the ground. But, he shyly held out his hand for Jungkook to take. Which the latter did.

His hand was warm and comforting. He didn't know a hand could make him feel safe, protected.

"I like this." Taehyung commented, finally looking up. He noticed they were headed towards the cafe.

"What?" The younger of the pair had asked.

"You know what, Kookie." Taehyung leaned up a tiny bit to look at Jungkook.

Jungkook couldn't help the smile that began to grow on his face. "No, I don't know what. Tell me, angel."

Taehyung groaned quietly with a small pout on his lips. Jungkook thought he looked so adorable.

"Fine. Ilikeholdingyourhand." Taehyung said quickly, hoping (not really) Jungkook heard him and won't ask to repeat.

However, things don't always go Tae's way.

"What? What did you say? I couldn't hear you! Speak up!" Jungkook got louder with each sentence, making Taehyung's face heat up.

"Jungkook, shut up! I said I like holding your hand, okay?!"

Jungkook laughed fondly at his angel's face. He looked so cute when he's embarrassed.

"I heard you the first time, you know. I just wanted to hear you say it again."

Taehyung smacked Jungkook's arm, but all the younger did was laugh. That caused Taehyung to start hitting his arm multiple times. Jungkook continued to laugh, though.

"I hate you." Taehyung stated, letting the taller's hand go to cross his arms across his chest.

Jungkook chuckled. "No, you don't. You couldn't hate me."

"That's debatable." Taehyung rolled his eyes. He glanced at Jungkook, who was smiling down at Tae, and smiled small.

"Rude, fam."

"Oh my god."

Taehyung began walking ahead of Jungkook to mess with him. The younger knew what his angel was doing, but he won't get away with it. Literally.

"Angel, I'm going to get lost if you keep walking ahead of me." Jungkook called out as Taehyung got a little bit further away.

"Good!" Taehyung picked up his pace.

Jungkook rolled his eyes. He actually took this time to admire Taehyung's beauty from behind. The backside of him looked just as beautiful as the frontside. His back looked toned and Jungkook wanted to squeeze his cute butt.

Jungkook jogged up to Taehyung and draped his arms over the older's shoulders. Taehyung gasped quietly, but kept walking; Jungkook had to waddle like a penguin. He didn't mind though.

"What are you doing?" Taehyung asked.

"Walking. What are you doing?" The taller retaliated.

"No, what are you doing?" Taehyung asked with more emphasis, and gestured - well, at least tried to - to Jungkook's arms.

"Oh. I'm hugging you. Is that a problem, angel?"

There goes that nickname again. That nickname that had Taehyung blushing like crazy and made his stomach feel all weird.

"N-not at all."

Taehyung didn't know where they were walking to. The area they were in was oddly familiar but he can't put his finger on it. They had long passed the cafe, too.

He looked around, pursing his lips, trying to figure out where they were. They were close to a neighborhood, he knew that much.

When they walked a little bit further down the sidewalk, it hit Taehyung like a pound of bricks.

They were near his house that he used to live in...with Hoseok.

Taehyung gulped. He honestly wanted to turn back around, but he also didn't want Jungkook to question him. Hopefully, Hoseok isn't home and won't see them pass by.

"Waddling is tiresome." Jungkook said, then removed his arms from Taehyung's shoulders. He stood beside Taehyung and held is hand again.

"Why are we walking through a neighborhood, angel?"

Taehyung involuntarily held Jungkook's hand a bit tighter. "No reason. I wasn't paying attention to where we were going. I'm sorry."

Jungkook used his thumb to rub Taehyung's knuckles. "It's okay, you don't have to be sorry."

They stayed quiet after that. They had passed by Hoseok's house and Taehyung couldn't help but glance over at it. Flashbacks replayed in his mind and his breathing became uneven.

"Angel, what's wrong? Are you okay?" Jungkook questioned worriedly.

Jungkook stopped them from walking. He stood in front of Taehyung, blocking his view from the house, and held Taehyung's face in his hands.

Taehyung rested his hands on top of Jungkook's. He closed his eyes and tried to even out his breaths.

"I'm fine." Taehyung opened his eyes, looking into the younger's dark ones.

"No you aren't. What hap-"

"Tae?"

Taehyung froze in his spot. He didn't want to turn around and face the man who had hurt him. The man who claimed he's changed. The man who wants a "second chance."

Jungkook was confused. He didn't know who this guy was. Apparently, this guy knows his angel, and he didn't know how to take that.

"Tae, what's wrong? And who's this? Is he hurting you?" Hoseok stepped closer to the two.

Finally, Taehyung snapped out of his trance. He took Jungkook's hands away from his face and looked at Hoseok.

"I can't believe you have the audacity to ask that question."

"I just want to make sure you're all right, Tae."

Taehyung glared at Hoseok. "No, you don't have the fucking right. I offered to be friends with you since our last meeting, and you've showed no effort. I'm done with you, Hoseok."

Then it clicked in Jungkook's mind. Hoseok. The person who broke his angel and destroyed his heart.

Jungkook didn't know what he was doing, but all he knew was that he's mad, angered even. He gripped Hoseok's collar, and pulled him up face to face.

"What the fuck is your problem?! All Taehyung ever did was love you and you broke him! You're a sick human being, you know that?! Stay away from Taehyung!!"

Hoseok looked at Jungkook, no fear shown on his face; only amusement.

"I don't know who the hell you think you're talking to. I don't have to listen to you. My relationship with my fiancé has nothing to do with you, so I suggest you leave."

Hoseok pushed Jungkook away from him. He straightened his shirt and looked at Taehyung, who was standing there unsure of what to do.

"Come on, Tae." Hoseok demanded.

"Hell no! He's not going anywhere with you!" Jungkook stood in front of Taehyung to try and protect him.

Taehyung didn't know what to do. He wasn't sure if he should interfere or not. This whole issue might be about him, but Taehyung feels as if he has no say in it.

"Move out of the way, kid. How old even are you? 16?" Hoseok shoved Jungkook out the way, but that was a big mistake.

Taehyung gasped loudly as Jungkook punched Hoseok square in the jaw. Hoseok fell to the ground, groaning in pain as he gripped his jaw.

"Hoseok! Are you okay?" Taehyung crouched down to the floor next to him.

He removed Hoseok's hands away from his face. His jaw was already turning colors.

"Really, Tae?! You all of a sudden care about him?!" Jungkook asked in disbelief. Why was Taehyung acting like he cared? Did Jungkook just not hear Taehyung tell the guy that they're done for good?

"I never stopped caring! You shouldn't have punched him, anyway!"

"Do you still love him or something?!"

"What?! No! Just because I care if he gets punched, doesn't mean I love him. Get your head on straight, Jungkook."

Taehyung helped Hoseok off the ground. He sighed as he inspected the bruise. It was an ugly purple color.

"C'mon, let's go in." Taehyung led Hoseok to his house.

Jungkook reluctantly followed them. He tried to understand why his angel cared about this scumbag. Taehyung clearly emphasized that he didn't care about him. Maybe it's part of the closure process? Jungkook didn't know, but he needed to find out.

The boys entered the house. It looked the same as when Taehyung left. He tried not to think about the familiar spots in the house where blood was spilled and tears were shed.

They went into the kitchen and Taehyung told Hoseok to sit at the table. Jungkook leaned against a far wall to watch them.

Taehyung moved around the kitchen like he never left. He opened the freezer to get the ice tray, setting it on the counter. He went to the other side where some cabinets were.

He opened one and took out a small ziploc bag. Taehyung then began filling the bag with ice. When he finished, Taehyung wrapped a towel around the makeshift ice pack.

"Please keep it on your face until the purple is at least gone. Don't forget to refill the bag, neither. Will you be fine or do you need me to stay for awhile?" Taehyung sat next to Hoseok, and placed the ice pack on the bruise. He grabbed Hoseok's hand, making him hold the ice.

Hoseok eyed Jungkook. "I'll be fine. Thanks, Tae." Hoseok flashed Taehyung a small smile. It hurt a little, but he didn't care.

Taehyung smiled back. "You're welcome. I'm sorry for this."

"It's okay," Hoseok leaned closer to Taehyung, and whispered. "is that your boyfriend?"

Taehyung felt his face heat up. "No, he's not." He whispered back.

"Sure acts like it." Hoseok mumbled. He quickly looked at Jungkook, who was glaring at them being so close.

"He's just protective of me, that's all."

Hoseok gave Taehyung a look.

"Shut up, he is!" Taehyung smacked Hoseok's shoulder.

Hoseok started laughing, but quickly stopped because of the pain in his jaw. It was Taehyung's turn to laugh now.

"Okay, can we go?" Jungkook asked loudly over his angel's melodious laugh and Hoseok's pain.

Taehyung stopped laughing and turned around to look at Jungkook. He turned back towards Hoseok and rolled his eyes.

"He's just jealous," Taehyung whispered. Hoseok chuckled a bit. "I can't believe I'm saying this, but..see you later?"

This made Hoseok smile as best as he could. "Yeah, see you later."

Taehyung nodded and got up. He went over to Jungkook, who looked more than ready to blow up any second.

"Go apologize." Taehyung told the younger.

"I'm not doing that." Jungkook shook his head.

"Fine, we aren't leaving until you do."

Hoseok had interjected their conversation. "He doesn't need to apologize, Tae. It's alright."

"Great! Let's go." Jungkook grabbed Taehyung's wrist and began dragging him to the front door.

"Bye Hoseok!" Taehyung yelled before the door quickly shut behind him.

Jungkook didn't let Taehyung's wrist go until they were out of the neighborhood. He was so upset that he didn't know what to think. He wants to believe that Taehyung's telling the truth, but it's really hard.

Jungkook might be overreacting. He knows Taehyung and Hoseok have a history together, but shouldn't what happened a year ago stop them from having any connections at all?

Jungkook is just overreacting.

"Kookie, you're hurting my wrist! Let go!" Taehyung shouted for the fifth time.

Jungkook stopped walking and let Taehyung's wrist go. He didn't turn around to face him.

"What's wrong with you? Why are you acting like this? Answer me dammit!"

Jungkook turned around to see Taehyung rubbing at his wrist. There was a prominent hand print on it and it was starting to bruise.

"You told me you didn't care about him anymore." Jungkook answered finally.

"You punched him. Why?"

"He was trying to get to you. I wasn't going to let him touch you."

"He wasn't going to touch me, I wouldn't have let him. Even if he did, I wouldn't have let you touch him."

Taehyung began walking towards home. Jungkook had no choice but to follow in suit. He wanted to hold his angel's hand, but Taehyung kept them in his pockets.

"Why? He needs to feel the pain you've put him through."

Taehyung sighed. "No, he doesn't. No amount of punches will make him feel what I felt. Besides, just because he hurt me doesn't mean I have to hurt him. Or you."

Jungkook then realized that Taehyung's heart is made of pure gold. He's too good for this shitty world. He doesn't even want to hurt the person who hurt him more than once. Taehyung doesn't believe in revenge.

Jungkook had then decided that Taehyung's heart will always be pure gold. He won't let anyone chip it. Jungkook especially won't let himself chip away Taehyung's gold.
