Peter is a quiet, calm soul and not just because he is mute.
Peter has never been a very emotional or expressive child.
He loves playing simple, old games like scrabble and monopoly
instead of video games or going to the movies. He doesn't smile a lot and
normally will keep his emotions to himself instead of
outwardly expressing them to others.

The only thing that is different about Peter is his temper.
It became an issue as a child when his parents tried to get him to talk
or express himself more and weren't able to. Peter would have a violent outburst
and hurt other kids which meant he had to be homeschooled
for his own protection and others.

Peter is creative, funny, and gentle when people get to know him
and understand how he works. He is difficult to understand at first
due to his restrictive emotional behaviors, but if someone
is determined to get to know him they would learn he is a loving child.

born to a single mother in portugal, hudson grew up
in the beautiful village of beira. though his mother didn't
have a lot of income, he loved his life. when hudson was four years
old his mother fell for a american man who was there
for business. After a quickly developing romance, 
hudson and his mother were moved to america.

shortly after their arrival, his new father began to show
his true colors. he held their citizenship over their heads
while verbally and physically assaulting both hudson and
his mother. his adoptive father believed that hudson
could in fact speak and would become furious when the 
boy stayed silent after he was spoken to. this resulted
in numerous alcohol fueled abuse altercations.

being outside was one of the few times hudson could get away from 
his father. he would spend hours of the day outside climbing, 
running, and exploring. overtime he developed
the skill of parkour - able to scale buildings with 
ease and climb on seemingly impossible obstacles. when the
infection broke out, not much changed in hudson's life. his
mother was too occupied with keeping her husband happy,
that she didn't keep much tabs on hudson. one day
while he was out escaping his father, hudson visited a local park. 

at the park he saw a young girl on a swing. with the two of
them being the only ones in the park he decided to approach. since
he couldn't speak, he had to get close to introduce himself, which
led to a major mistake. once hudson got close, he realized the
girl was sick, infected.  Her skin was sickly pale, eyes grey, and teeth rotting.
He tried to run but fell over his own untied shoelaces,
her small hands reached for him frantically, she was on the brink of starvation.
He tried to scream, but nothing came out.
Her hands gripped onto him trying to climb on top of him. 
He tried frantically to kick her away but the girl was able to land
one deep bite on the back of his leg before he got free.

that night hudson slept on the top of a city building, scared
to go home with ripped clothes and his new father
beating him for it. he slept for two full days before awakening.
when he returned home it was late. while his mother was excited
to see him alive, his father was furious he had been out
as long as he wanted. after a hour of screaming and beatings, hudson snapped.
he unleashed his new power, killing his father and accidently 
killing his mother in the process.

𝙖𝙗𝙞𝙡𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙡.
hudson's ability came on as a freak accident while under the  abuse of his step-father. with little knowledge regarding 'the sick', as hudson calls them, he didn't know anything about how some survivors of the virus were left with peculiar abilities.  it was only his mother who told him to keep it a secret as she laid dying after hudson's uncontrolled outburst.  at first he only knew of his ability to admit light beams from the palms of his hands. 

for some time after his discovery, hudson didn't experiment or play with his powers. he lived out his life surviving as if they never existed. after some time of boredom, while sitting atop one of his commonly visited buildings, hudson began to explore the extend of his abilities. he learned that he could illuminate his palms without releasing the energy, ranging from a bright flashlight to a strong enough energy to blind anyone who looked towards him. it was a useful skill which allowed hudson to constantly have a source of light even in the darkest areas of the city.

When he released the full potential of his ability, unleashing the power ray of light, the beam was scorching hot, hot enough to cut through cement and weld together metal. It easily fried away and his step fathers skin and left penetrating holes in his body. As he uses his power, the skin of his forearm and hand illuminate, allowing you to see the veins beneath his skin as his power flows through him. 

there is in exchange some limitation to his power. hudson's body is like a battery, he needs sunlight in order to recharge and allow his powers to work. if he is kept from sunlight or other light sources, such as underground or dark and damp areas, (fluorescent bulbs, light generated by others survivors, etc.) he will become drained and weak possibly to the point of fainting until he is rejuvenated once again. the longer he stays in direct sunlight, the more power he will have charged up. other side effects include his inability to be blinded or burned from light. his blood is also illuminating and almost blinding to look at, it is also burning to the touch without proper protection from it.
