I looked down at my baby blue sun dress, "Gwen, do I have to wear this?"

"Yes, Y/n! You look adorable, besides, Max might think it'll look cute on you~"

"Pfft! Shut up!" I playfully punched her arm.

"You look so pretty, Y/n!" Said Jaiden, who was wearing a yellow dress, "So, you're going to sing that song?"

"Yep, I showed the lyrics to Max and he said they were good so, its worth a shot," I shrugged.

"You know, your confidence went way up since you met Max, Jaiden nodded.

"Yeah, I guess it did," I smiled sheepishly, agreeing.

"Oooh! I'm so excited! It's gonna be so fun! You both get to meet my mom! She's awesome!" Nikki put her arms around both me and Jaiden.

She was wearing a red dress with a yellow long sleeve shirt under it.

All the girls including Gwen were getting dressed together while all the boys including David were together in another room.

I had to admit I was excited myself for the Parent's day thing since my mom is coming along with Sam, but I was afraid for the Graduation part, when we all have to leave.

I was going to miss everyone, don't get me wrong, but I was going to miss Max the most.

He was the light of my life.

//Max's POV//

"It looks great on you, Max! I have no idea what you're talking about!" David put his hands on his hips.

"It looks stupid," I sighed.

David bought me a black dress shirt that he forced me to wear since I don't really have any other clothes.

"It looks fine, Max. Stop overreacting just because you want to look good for Y/n," Neil rolled his eyes.

"Fuck You, Neil. You spent an hour in the bathroom this morning practicing complements for Jaiden," I hissed.

"T-Touché," His face went red.

"Max, are you going to tell her today?" Harrison asked me.

"I...don't know. Maybe?? It's times like these that I hate hormones."

"I gotta go get some fresh air," I sighed, leaving the room.

I stood outside, my back against the door.

I took out my phone and started to text Y/n.

(Max is bold and you're in italics)

-how's its holding up with you guys?

She responded in less then a minute.

-boring af. How's it going with you? David on your back?

-go outside. You can escape them too.

-I guess..

After two minutes, Y/n walked out of the girl's room.

She was wearing a light blue dress that went to her knees and black flats.

I felt my face go red at the sight of her, "You look really p-pretty.."

"T-Thanks..I like your shirt."

"Thanks, David forced me to wear it," I stuck my hands in the back pockets of my pants.

"So.."

"So.."

We both looked away from each other, blush on our faces.

I gulped and quickly grabbed her hand.

I was afraid she'd let go, but instead, she intertwined her fingers with mine.

I looked to her and saw her smiling, so I smiled back.

"You know, Y/n, I kinda wanted to tell you that-"

"Y/n! Can you come back in here? I need your help!" I heard Nerris call from the girls room.

"Sorry Max. Tell me later," Y/n said she went back into the room.

"It's alright," I told her.

But it wasn't alright.

I'd just lost my chance to tell her how I felt.

I sighed, pissed off.

'Cool it, Max. You might get a chance later,' I told myself.

And, I went back inside.

—Time Skip—

//Your POV//

I saw through the window as the final car pulled up before we started our parents day activities.

It was my mom's, and I watched Mom and Uncle Sam climb out of it.

I immediately ran out the Mess Hall to greet them.

"Hey squirt!" My Mom messed up my hair.

"Mom! Uncle Sam!"

"Heya shrimp. How've ya been?" Sam asked.

"I'm okay."

"Good," He smiled.

I led them inside.

David and Gwen greeted them and we all sat at a table together.

I couldn't help but notice Max sitting alone.

'Right..'

I made a motion to Max to sit with us once I got his attention.

He shook his head "no", but I kept making a "get your ass over here" motion.

He finally got up and sat next to me, waving to my mom and Uncle Sam.

I swear I saw Uncle Sam wink at him.

"And now, since it's a little later than when we usually start with, we can have our family lunches now," David finished his long ass lecture.

"Max, wanna have lunch with us?" I asked him.

"I dunno, I mean- it's your family, and I don't want to get in the way of that," Max refused.

"C'mon, it'll be fun. Besides, we're all cool here," Sam reassured him.

"I guess if you're all okay with it."

The meal was Hotdogs and mashed potatoes.

"Wow, this pup looks like it's been sitting in hot dog water for a month," Sam punned at the soggy looking hot dog.

"Yeah, and these mashed potatoes are dog-on moldy," I added.

"Sam, are you sure I didn't have your kid?" My mom rolled her eyes making me and Sam laugh.

Max was eerily quiet.

"I'm sorry you guys aren't enjoying the food," David walked up to us apologizing, not questioning the fact Why Max was sitting with us.

"It's alright. Hey, David was it?" Sam Asked.

"Why yes!"

"What do you call a dogs favorite thing about a tree?"

"Uh..the way it makes oxygen for all of us?"

"Nope, it's bark!"

"I..oooh! I get it! Y/n, you have a hilarious dad!" David laughed.

We all stared at him.

He must not have known that Sam was my uncle.

"What..? Did I say something wrong?" David looked confused.

"He's...He's my uncle, David. My mom and dad aren't together anymore," I explained to him.

"Oh..Oh, I'm so sorry," David apologized and walked away.

"He should be. He should know this type of shit about us," Max sighed, making us all laugh.

—Time Skip—

//Max's POV//

Nerf had just gotten off the stage after forcing everybody to clap loud for his poem that was actually touching (like seriously how the fuck??).

There was one person left, besides me who doesn't have to go up there since I don't have a camp.

That person was Y/n.

I was legitimately excited to see what she was going to do, since her camp is basically about her getting over her social anxiety.

I sat with her mom and Sam in the audience and watched as Y/n walked up on stage, as looking nervous as ever.

"Hi, guys," She said into the mic and waved.

"WOOHOO, GO Y/N!" Jaiden screamed at the top of her lungs from next to her parents, who shushed her.

"Hi Jaiden," She chuckled, "I wanted to tell you all a couple things before I do something that I wasn't able to do when I first got here."

She took this piece of paper and started to read off it.

"As you can see, I didn't practice," She made fun of herself, making the audience, including me laugh.

"When me and Jaiden first arrived here, I was basically an introvert. I had only a small group of friends and was as shy as a mouse. But, then I met some amazing people here, including one of my now forever friends, who I met right on day one," Y/n winked to me, "I learned to open up and become more outgoing than I was. I remember the first time I spoke out loud to my fellow campers: I stuttered, had an anxiety attack and ran off. But look at me now; I'm speaking to all of you without even a stutter, and I think that's a pretty big change if ya ask me. So now, let me do something for you guys that I would have never done a couple months ago."

Y/n walked over to David and whispered into his ear.

David ran back stage and came out with his guitar.

'God, is he gonna sing?'

David then handed the guitar to Y/n.

Then it all clicked into my head.

He wasn't going to sing, Y/n was.

That was why she showed me lyrics yesterday.

I didn't know she played guitar though.

She spoke into the microphone, "I've been working a new song. It's about a really specific feeling that is hard to describe, and I want you guys to hear it. Ahem."

She did a little strum at the beginning.

"Come along with me
To a town beside the sea
We can wander through the forest
And do so as we please."

As I predicted, she sung the lyrics that she showed me on that notebook paper yesterday.

"Come along with me
To a cliff under a tree
Where we'll gaze upon the water
As an everlasting dream."

Her voice was just as sweet as it was the first time I heard her sing.

"All of my affections
I give them all to you
Maybe by next summer
We won't have changed our tunes."

I felt a connection with the words, they stuck with me.

"I still want to be
In this town beside the sea
Making up new numbers
And living so merrily."

I noticed some people in the audience were their arms swaying and Uncle Sam was holding up a lighter and rocking it in the air.

"All of my affections
I give them all to you
I'll be here for you always
And always be for you."

Y/n was into the song, smiling and just having fun, and that's what I loved the most about it: her just having fun.

"Come along with me
To a town beside the sea
We can wander through the forest
And do so as we please
Living so merrily."

I was the first to stand up and clap, and soon everyone else did.

Y/n bowed, walked off stage.

She sat back next to me and whispered, "How did I do?"

"Y/n, you were amazing. I had no idea you play guitar," I praised her.

"Thanks Max. Uncle Sam taught me how," She nudged Sam, who fluffed her hair.

David made another speech on how he was sad to see us go and it will be hard to find another generation like us next year.

Everyone was bored, and Nikki even threw a handful of mud at him, but he dodged before it could hit him.

As he finished, the sun was starting to set.

It was about the time to leave.

My parents were going to arrive any minute.

I got scared, I needed to tell Y/n how I felt.

Harrison, Spacekid, Nerf, And Nerris were already getting their stuff together.

"Y/n!" I called out for her, since I lost her in the crowd.

I couldn't hear her voice, until I heard her yell my name, "Max!"

Now everyone had their things together.

I could see Harrison give Nerris a little peck on the cheek.

Neil gave Jaiden a bold kiss on the lips, turning her bright red along with himself.

I then saw something that made my stomach turn.

My parents car pulled up.

They didn't get out, they just honked and waited for me.

I ignored them, and ran to Y/n when I finally saw her.

"Y/n, I need to tell you something now."

"Is that your parents?" Y/n pointed to their car.

"Yeah, but that isn't what matters right now. I've been wanting to tell you this for a while," I held her hands.

"What is it?"

"Max, now!" I heard my dad yell from the car.

"Fucking wait!" I yelled back.

Now everyone was silent, looking at me.

"I just...UGH!" I got frustrated and I did something without thinking.

I put my hands on her cheeks and pulled her face towards mine.

I kissed her.

She looked surprised, but then wrapped her arms around my neck.

Everyone, including her mom and Uncle Sam, clapped.

We pulled apart after a minute.

Y/n started to cry, tears falling down her cheeks.

"M-Max..Please d-don't leave me!" She sobbed jumping into my arms.

I rocked her and ran my hand through her hair, "We have to go our ways, Kitty, but please remember. I love you. Don't you ever forget that okay?"

"I-I Love y-you too."

I felt tears go down my cheeks.

"I'm sorry it has to be like this Y/n."

"Max!" She cried and hugged me again.

She sobbed loudly for another 5 minutes until my dad honked the car again.

"I gotta go, Y/n. I love you," I kissed her softly on the lips again.

"Max..please don't-"

I took off my hoodie and handed it to her, "Don't worry. I have extras."

She nodded and put it on, despite it being 90 degrees out.

"I'll never forget you, Max," She wiped her eye.

"I won't forget you either. So long, Y/n."

"So long for now, Max."

And, I walked to the car, and climbed in.

I saw out the window as Y/n broke down on the ground and cried.

It broke my heart to see her like that.

I couldn't stop the tears coming down my cheeks.

"Took you long enough," My mom scoffed.

"Just drive," I sighed.

I watched through the window as the image of Y/n, and the camp got farther..

And farther..

Until they were all gone.
