60. End?
Jungkook's POV โ
It rained that night. Of course it did.
The skies always know when blood is about to answer for blood.
Y/n was asleep when I left. I kissed her forehead and whispered a promise against her skin, "Sleep well, my love. The past ends tonight."
Namjoon tried to stop me over the phone. "Jungkook, the court will handle this. We have everything. Let the system do its job."
"The same system that let Suyeonโs corpse rot in silence for twelve years? The same one that let that animal smile on magazine covers while I was labeled a murderer? No, Joon. This is family business now."
I drove alone.
The warehouse on the outskirts of Incheon was abandoned. It had history. This was the same place where I found Suyeon, where the tapes ended, where Junghyun laughed and ran away with blood on his hands.
He thought it poetic to come back here and taunt me again.
But tonight, I brought poetry of my ownโand it rhymed with fire.
He was already there. The bastard.
He stood in the center of the room, smug, arms crossed, a smirk stretching across his face. "Took you long enough."
I didnโt say a word. Just stepped in slowly, boot heels echoing against concrete.
"What? No gun this time? Going to cry over Suyeon again? Poor little Jungkook. Always the victim."
I pulled out the small bottle of alcohol from my coat, the clink of glass echoing with finality.
"Still think this is a joke?"
He narrowed his eyes. "What the hell is that?"
I tossed it onto the floor beside him. It shattered. He jumped.
"What are you doing?"
"You remember how it felt, donโt you? To have control. To watch someone weaker suffer. Let me show you how that story ends."
I circled him, unscrewing the cap of a second bottle. The sharp smell of alcohol filled the air. I poured it in a circle around him.
"You're insane!"
"No. I'm focused."
Then I brought out the kerosene.
His eyes widened. "Kook. Kook, wait. What the hell are you doing? This isn't you. You're not a killer."
"Youโre wrong. I was never a killer because I had something to lose. My father. My name. Y/n. But now? The world already thinks Iโm a monster. Might as well feed it."
He lunged at me. I kicked him back into the center of the circle. He tripped, landed on his knees.
"You're sick!"
I pulled the lighter from my pocket.
"Say her name. Say Suyeon's name."
He shook his head. "She was nothing. She was just a stupid girl who said no. She chose you. I made her regret it."
I smiled.
"Then regret will be your last prayer."
I flicked the lighter.
The fire rose fast. The alcohol hissed. He screamed.
But I didnโt walk away.
Because behind me, there was a whisper.
"Jungkook."
I turned.
Y/n.
She stood at the doorway, soaked from the rain, eyes locked onto mine. Not afraid. Not angry.
Silent.
"You shouldnโt be here," I said.
"I had to be. I saw the note."
The flames danced around Junghyunโs shrieking figure. His screams were growing weaker.
Y/n stepped forward.
And thatโs when she pulled something from her pocket.
A tape.
"This? This is the last one," she said. "The one your father never knew about. Suyeon mailed it. To the police. But it was intercepted. I found it in your father's old files, behind his safe panel."
I took it. My hands shook. On the label were four words:
"If I die, he did it."
Junghyun stopped screaming. His voice was now a hoarse whisper.
"Y/nโฆ pleaseโฆ help me. You're pregnant. You can't watch this."
She looked at him.
And then she said the words that turned me cold:
"You watched her die. Now, watch me walk away."
She turned to me. Her fingers brushed mine.
"Let it end, Jungkook."
The fire roared.
And the storm outside mirrored it.
---
We watched from the hill. The warehouse burned to the ground.
Y/n held my hand the whole time.
"Is it over?" she asked.
I looked at the flames.
"No," I said. "But now it can begin."
The morning after was still and strange. No reporters. No chaos. Just silence.
Y/n was quiet on the drive back home. Her hand never left mine.
When we reached the estate, the guards stood straighter, the staff frozen as if they could sense it. Something had ended. Or begun.
I helped her out of the car. Her fingers gripped my hand tighter than usual.
"What now?" she asked.
"Now," I said, brushing her hair back from her face, "we build. For our child. For us. And for Suyeon."
She nodded. A single tear slid down her cheek. I kissed it away.
And then my phone rang.
Namjoon.
"The footage leaked to the press," he said. "Anonymous email. All of it. The last tape. The confessions of your father. Even the footage of Junghyun at the warehouse. Someone filmed it."
My eyes flicked to Y/n.
She met my gaze. Unapologetic. Brave.
"I uploaded it," she said. "They deserved to know."
I pulled her into my arms.
"You're dangerous," I whispered.
"I married a monster," she whispered back, smiling against my chest. "You didnโt expect a lamb, did you?"
We stood there in the entry hall, where blood once trailed and now light poured.
The world finally knew the truth.
Junghyun was dead.
And the kingdom we would build?
It would rise from ashesโ a place no ghost could haunt again.
Four Years Later
The morning sun spilled through the nursery windows, warm and golden. The walls were painted a soft grey, shelves lined with books and toys, and chaos danced across the floor in the form of two tiny hurricanes.
"Appa! Appa! Look! I made a castle!" my son shouted, holding up a pile of blocks that had already started to tilt dangerously.
"That's not a castle, thatโs a danger zone," I chuckled, ruffling his jet-black hairโjust like mine.
Aarohi aka Jiwoo, his twin sister, peeked over the top of her plush castle of stuffed animals. "Appa, JiHoon took my bunny again!"
I glanced over at the culprit, who was now trying to hide the pink bunny behind his back. "JiHoon (Advait), what did we say about stealing your sisterโs bunny?"
He grinned mischievously. "Share is care?"
"Close enough," I sighed, grabbing the bunny and handing it back to Jiwoo, who immediately stuck her tongue out at her brother.
They were three years and eleven months old. And I was still trying to believe that they were realโthat this life was real.
I leaned back on the couch, watching them play, when Y/n stepped into the room.
"How long have they been terrorizing you?" she asked, walking in with a tray of breakfast and that familiar smirk on her face.
"Since the minute you left," I replied. "I swear they wait for you to disappear just so they can start World War III."
She laughed, setting the tray down. I reached out and grabbed her waist, pulling her gently into my lap. "I missed you."
"I went to the kitchen for ten minutes."
"Ten minutes too long," I murmured, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
She laid her head on my shoulder, watching the kids with me.
"Can you believe it? After everything... this?"
"No," I said truthfully. "I used to think I'd never be anything but a weapon. But theyโyouโyou gave me something else to be."
Jiwoo ran up to us, her bunny squished under one arm. "Umma, Appa, is it snack time yet?"
Y/n kissed her forehead. "Five minutes. Let Appa recover first. He looks like he just came back from war."
"Hey," I protested, but couldn't hold the laughter.
Thisโthis was peace. It didnโt erase what we went through, but it made surviving it all worth something.
And as I watched Y/n chase after our twins, laughing, barefoot, glowing in the morning lightโI realized something.
This wasn't just a kingdom rising from ashes.
It was home.
