Chapter 10:

Percy's POV:

Paul's family was about to get up and leave but were stopped by the lawyer speaking up, "There is one more thing within their will" which got Paul's family to stop moving to the door and turn around. "It's about the funeral that they wish to have" The lawyer continued and

"I thought we would be discussing this as a family matter" Paul's father said

"I'm sorry but both of them have the funeral proceedings they wish to have within their will" The Lawyer said, much to the displeasure of Paul's family, who were probably planning on a traditional burial. "The will states that both Sally and Paul wish to be cremated within ancient greek tradition, and for them to have a burial shroud made" The Lawyer said, causing an uproar among many of Paul's family. "however, they do not state any specific designs they want for their shrouds they do, nevertheless, request that they be made and designed within the traditional ways they were designed in" the lawyer stated, which only annoyed Paul's family because it means they don't get to design it how they want.

"And finally the location of which they wish to have their funeral pyres burned is at the favored beach of their son on long island facing the sound" the lawyer finished leaving paul's family confused, as to the location choice, and me to wonder why they choose the fireworks beach.

After that the lawyer dismissed us all, and Paul's family was complaining about how hard it will be to comply with their wishes and it would be easier to just bury them. "Actually I know plenty of people who know the ancient funeral rites. And plenty of who can make beautiful burial shrouds" I said which just seemed to piss them

"who" Paul's mother demanded

"my wife, most of her family, myself, a few of my cousins, and a good handful of friends" I answered, which annoyed them even more as it is possible to give them the funeral that they wish to have.

"So when will we have their funeral and where" Paul's father asked as we all walked out of the building to see officer smith standing outside.

"we can start tomorrow afternoon at the earliest and meet me at the entrance to 3141 farm road, Long Island, New York at 1pm. We'll walk from there but you may want to all be wearing flats or sneakers because it's a bit of a hike" I said to them.

"That's fine" Paul's parents huffed before all of his family went into their rental cars, and went back to their hotels.

"Funeral arrangements were in the will weren't they" Officer smith asked

"Yes, I knew they wrote it in there but not to that much specificity" I said

"Alright and as for you all claiming their bodies" Officer smith asked

"we will claim them tonight or early tomorrow as to prepare them for their funeral" I answered.

"Ok. Have safe travels" Officer smith said as she entered her car and left to head back to the precinct to do her work.

Artemis and I started walking back to the same alleyway from which we came, when planning on how to get this done. We ended up deciding that we will drop Estella off at our palace, then she will go and tell Camp halfblood to prepare the shrouds for my parents and to build their funeral pyres on the beach. While I'll inform the Romans of my mother's and Paul's passing and invite any who want to goto the funeral to said funeral, while also giving them a time to be ready to leave tomorrow at my temple. After that we will inform Olympus of the funeral plans, which hopefully won't take that long and allow us to collect my parent's bodies before midnight where we will lay them in rest at the big house before having them moved to the pyres in the morning.

So our plan went off without a hitch, though not many Romans stated they wanted to come, outside of Reyna, who stated she would come as representative for Rome, and Ella, Tyson's girlfriend.  The campers ultimately upset about her passing, but honored that they were given permission to design and make their burial shrouds. We also found out that Nico broke out of his prison bed last night.

Now while some like Hera weren't incredibly happy about the location of my parents funeral the meeting went by quickly and we were able to get their bodies to a room in the big house before midnight. And despite my wanting to see my mother's face one last time, Apollo's warning and the look on his face kept coming to the forefront of my thoughts each time I considered it. So, I didn't.

Artemis and I finally went back to the palace only to find Thalia outside of our room and Estella nowhere to be seen. "Where's Estella" I asked

"She locked herself in your room after she woke up and ate" Thalia replied

Artemis just dismissed Thalia to go and check on our adoptive daughter's progress with their rooms. "Estella, sweetie, can you please open the door so your brother and I can enter" Artemis asked

"No" came Estella's reply

"Why" I asked

"You both left me here with the madwoman" She responded, I'm not going to disagree with her description of Thalia

"Well did she do anything to you" Artemis asked

"no"

"What about feed you did she have food made for you"

"Yes"

"Did you know she stood guard outside the door the entire time you had yourself locked in there"

"No" Estella answered

"Do you know that your brother and I trust her" Artemis said, pausing for a moment looking at me, "well your brother depending on the occasion"

"No" Estella answered again

"Then why don't you let us in so we can all be well rested for tomorrow's proceedings" Artemis asked nicely.

"I don't know" Estella answered, "I don't know why I do half the things I do though" she finished

"Well you're just like your brother then" Artemis replied when the door opened

"We are not that similar" both of us stated in an offended tone, which got a sarcastic you don't say from Artemis.

Artemis proceeded to pick Estella up and went to lay down on the bed, "Where's my Percy Pillow" Artemis said, when her head hit the mattress.

"Struggling not to laugh in the doorway" I answered nearly laughing. Once I recollected myself, I headed to bed where my wife scolded me for taking so long to become her pillow

We woke up early in the morning and explained to Estella that while Artemis and I help finish setting up for the proceedings today, that the talking pony man was going to watch over her till it was time for the proceedings to start and that she shouldn't ruin her dress during the time of which he is watching her.

She seemed fine with that, mainly because it wasn't the madwoman Thalia watching her, and we explained that he's like a father to me and that we both trust him, so she wouldn't be too scared about him..

We all got dressed and flashed to camp right in front of Chiron, "PONY MAN! Big brother says you're going to watch me till today's events are ready to occur or they are done helping set up" Estella immediately said seeing Chiron in all his centaur glory.

Chiron gave me a seriously look, "Of course I will watch you until Lord Percy and Lady Artemis are done preparing today's events" Chiron replied, which caused both myself and Artemis to sigh  annoyed from the titles.

"alright pony man, we'll see you later, probably 11ish" I said before flashing down to the beach to see that the pyres were already built and the campers have hauled out more than enough foldable chairs, which I'm betting the Stoll brothers acquired through less than legal means.

Artemis and I started helping the campers set up the chairs though some campers that were helping the set up grabbed tape and wrote their names on it before placing said tape on a chair claiming it as their seat.

Funnily enough the seats were evenly distributed, though the seats were already claimed on the side of which my mother's funeral pyre was on, besides the first two rows. Which weren't claimed, as the demigods figured that, if the gods show up they will want to sit in either of those two rows.

After that a couple of the campers dragged both Artemis and myself off to the Athena cabin where, apparently, they just finished making the burial shrouds. Now if they are anything like the ones they have designed before, I know that they will be beautiful.

I wasn't wrong as my mothers was made of a beautiful blue silk, with silver designs of the home and family being the majority of them, but in the corners they added Artemis's, Hestia's, and my symbols.

Paul's, however, was much much more simpler than my mother's, which was practically half blue and half silver with the amount of designs they put into it. Paul's had scenes of education, kindness, acceptance, and bravery, as well as a few of his favorite Shakespeare scenes, though they were more a mixed version with the original og greek and roman stories, that Shakespeare plagiarized. You know I wonder why English teachers are like don't plagiarize, and then immediately turn around and tech you plagiarized material, though when Paul was teaching me he at least taught the differences between the source material and Shakespeare's version.

Sorry went a bit off track there, but Paul's shroud was made up of a white background and mostly blue designs, as the Apollo campers decided to intervene when it came to the plagiarized shakespearean scenes and made them gold, because it's their father's favorite color.

Anyways I liked how both turned out.
