dependable, one such word that yoshiko strives to embody in and of itself. yoshiko was always the person to ask a quick question or lend an ear or shoulder sympathetically during her grade school days despite being ostracized from most of her class, and has carried such behavior with her into adulthood. that, of course, can also be attributed to her empathetic nature; yoshiko is quick to gauge the emotions of others and in extremes even feel such emotions herself. a blessing and a curse. while reading people's emotions like the pages of a book may seem an invaluable boon, yoshiko has found herself in situations where negative emotions have taken a physical toll on her. as such, yoshiko is probably one of the most unconfrontational you'll ever meet; she just can't take the stress confrontations impart on her mentally and physically. she relies on herself for almost everything and is a rather calm and gentle soul, and simply wishes that the energy she puts out into the world was returned to her by even a fraction. she's not the most talkative person in the world, but she's not averse to conversation either. yoshiko is just far more content being the listener rather than being listened to. she's a rather intelligent person, a realist with a more analytical approach to life. she takes things as they are and tries not to question they play out much, almost dismissive in the way she chooses not to look into certain aspects of life. call it willful ignorance if you may, but it's how yoshiko lives her life. despite that, yoshiko considers herself to be a generous person in any regard. giving is her specialty, and receiving makes her feel uncomfortable. she's actually a bit averse to attention, which is why she so readily blends herself into the background when the situation calls for it. she knows she's simply a side character in everyone else's story, the support and healing aspect that pushes them to do greater and dream bigger. and though it may seem a bit contradictory, yoshiko can hold a mean grudge. she's the type that may come to forgive but will never forget. any transgression against her will forever live on in her memory, and if she's to be weighed down by such strong negativity she believes she's allowed this much selfishness at least. she's a people-pleaser any other time, which ties back into her want to be depended on. she just wants to be someone that feels wanted, even if it's just for a moment.

yoshiko was born to hatori and rin aikawa on a beautiful summer's day in the ibaraki prefecture of japan, a joyful baby girl that shined like the sun. her parents were a well-respected and liked couple in their neighborhood, known especially well due to them being high school sweethearts. love like their's was something to be proud of, no? yoshiko being born was just the cherry on top. while hatori spent long nights away in tokyo working for his family, rin was the doting housewife who kept everything spic and span and kept their home in check; a picturesque life for a model family. she never wanted for anything in life and was a brilliantly gifted child at whatever she set out to do. being born into a good family didn't always merit a good life though. yoshiko was always a kind and careful child growing up, perhaps a bit on the quieter side but not overly so. however, she was a heavy target for bullying throughout her middle school years, so much so that she had to transfer schools twice. and on top of everything, after graduating from middle school officially, her parents announced that they were divorcing. it felt as if she had blinked and her life had disintegrated. the neighborhood now shunned her, the "problem child" that tore apart a perfectly good couple. she could hardly walk home from school without a glare or sneer thrown her way, all over a situation she had no control over. her mother chose to move back in with her own parents, and yoshiko moved over to the united states with her father after a promotion at work sent him overseas. this was the turn of a new leaf for yoshiko, or at least she was hoping for it to be so. here she didn't have a reputation to uphold, or strangers to appease simply due to the circumstance of her birth. for the first time in her life, yoshiko made a few friends, and life seemed to mellow out from there. her mother remarried and started anew in japan, and her father continued to climb the corporate ladder. yoshiko was accepted into harvard to pursue law, and life looked to be shaping up nicely for her. she just hoped now that no more curveballs were thrown her way.
