Chapter 26
READER'S POV
We got to the Demon Lord's Castle and I stared at it in awe when I saw it. Asmo was right, it is magnificent.
"Whoa, you were right Asmodeus. This place is amazing."
"I'm glad you think so," Asmo spoke with a smile before we went inside the castle and we saw Diavolo and Barbatos waiting for us.
"Well, good morning. I must say, I couldn't wait for you to arrive!" Diavolo spoke with a smile.
"Welcome to the Demon Lord's Castle. It's a pleasure to have you here," Barbatos greeted us with a smile.
"Good morning, Diavolo. And you too, Barbatos. Well, it seems that neither Solomon nor the angels have arrived yet, have they? Lucifer asked them.
"Man, now that's just shameless. Listen to you pretendin' like you didn't hurry over here, all frantic to make it to Lord Diavolo before Solomon and the angels could," Mammon commented out loud.
"Hm? Did you say something Mammon?" Lucifer asked him while standing on his foot.
"D'AAAAAH OW OW OW! My foot! You're steppin' on MY FOOT, Lucifer! ...Lucifer sir!"
I snickered at his reaction before Diavolo spoke up, "Well, Lucifer, Mammon, I see that you two are getting along swimmingly as usual."
"At least Mammon is predictable. No matter what, you can always count on him to act stupid..." Asmo commented.
"Yeah. It's embarrassing to think that Solomon and the angels are about to get a front row seat to all of Mammon's idiocy," Satan commented before Mammon glared at him.
"WHAT?"
"Ah, speaking of our other guests, they've just arrived," Barbatos spoke up before Solomon and the other angels came into the castle.
"Hello, and good morning! We've already got quite the crowd here, don't we?" Simeon spoke with a smile on his face.
"You demons sure know how to get an early start. I see you manged to get here before us," Solomon spoke up before Luke turned to look at me.
"(Y/n)!"
"Hey Luke," I spoke with a smile before he hugged me tightly making me giggle.
"What the...! HEY! What's the big idea runnin' up and huggin' (Y/n) like that?!" Mammon shouted while glaring at Luke while Beel remained quiet and glared at him.
"Ugh, THIS is why I can't stand normies..." Levi grumbled with a frown.
"(Y/n), I'm SO happy you're all right...! So, SO HAPPY! There aren't even words...!" Luke spoke with a smile as he snuggled into my chest.
"What's all this about?" Satan asked us.
"I'm guessing he must feel responsible for what happened. ...You know, for how Lucifer nearly attacked (Y/n)," Asmo told him.
"I'm so so sorry, (Y/n). You could've been hurt or worse and it was all my fault... I know I called and apologised for this already but it's such a relief to see you safe and sound. I've been beside myself with worry..."
"Don't worry about it. It's all right," I reassured her.
"Are you actually an angel? is that it? An angel disguised as a human?" Luke asked me with a smile.
"That's what I sometimes think whenever she sees a poor defenceless demon like me," Raven told him while scratching his neck with his back paw to get the leash off of him.
"Hey, hey, stop that," I scolded Raven.
"I can't help it! I don't like the leash!" Raven complained as he continued to scratch his neck.
"I've heard rumours that Simeon and Diavolo met and mediated a solution together. Is that right?" Solomon asked.
"Yes we did," Simeon answered Solomon's question.
"Indeed, yes. Isn't that right, Lucifer?" Diavolo asked as he looked at Lucifer.
"...Yes," Lucifer mumbled while Luke remained silent,
"Hehe. Just look at the expression on Luke's face. He looks like a dog with his tail between his legs," Asmodeus spoke up.
"Shhh...he'll hear you, Asmodeus," Satan hushed Asmodeus before Diavolo spoke up.
"All right then. Now that we're here, perhaps we should go ahead and explain how this retreat is going to work," Diavolo suggested before Barbatos nodded his head in agreement.
"Certainly, My Lord. The aim of this retreat is for demons, angels and humans to intermingle so that each may gain a better understanding of the other," Barbatos explained.
Mammon smirked before he spoke up, "Well, as we're stayin' the night, I say the best way to intermingle is by havin' a pillow fight!"
"Now then, I'll begin by explaining what we have planned for each day for the retreat.£
"Wha...so you're just going to ignore me?!" Mammon grumbled.
"ROTFLAMO LOOOOOOOL!" Levi laughed at Mammon before Barbatos continued.
"After you've taken your belongings up to your rooms, we'll begin with a tour for the Demon Lord's Castle, where you'll have a chance to learn about Devildom history. We'll be serving Devildom cuisine for dinner tonight, and I've taken the liberty of volunteering to prepare tonight's meal myself."
"Mmm, Barbatos' authentic Devildom cuisine..." Beel drooled.
"Easy big guy," I patted his shoulder to calm him down.
"Um, Beel...you know you're drooling," Levi told him after seeing the drool coming out of his mouth.
"Tomorrow we'll be having a scavenger hunt," Barbatos told us.
"...Eh? A what now?" Mammon asked in a confused tone.
"A scavenger hunt. It's a game you play in groups. You use pictures and hints to help you hunt down hidden items," Satan explained to Mammon.
"Each day, we plan to have a representative from one of the three worlds prepare a meal for us. So, tomorrow Luke will be making food from the Celestial Realm. I'm sure it will be quite a treat," Barbatos spoke with a smile.
"Food from the Celestial Realm, huh..." Beel mumbled before his stomach growled loudly.
"Was that your stomach growling just now, Beel? Because for a moment I thought I heard thunder," Asmo spoke as he sweat dropped after hearing his stomach.
"Remember, Luke, you're making DINNER. Which means more than just sweets, understand?"
"Aw...o-okaaay..." Luke mumbled and I knew that he was not happy about this since he doesn't like demons.
"Incidentally, there will also be a dance following dinner tomorrow. Then on day three, the final day, we'll get to enjoy food from the human world for lunch, which (Y/n) will be preparing for us," Barbatos told us.
"I've got this!" I spoke in a confident tone.
"Just the thought of getting to eat (Y/n)'s human world cooking is making me hungry..." Beel mumbled.
"Well then, why don't we move on to the room assignments? Lord Diavolo will be sharing a room with Lucifer," Barbatos told us.
"You have your own bedroom here. Why share a room with me?" Lucifer asked him.
"Why do you think? Because this is a retreat, of course!" Diavolo spoke with a smile.
"You certainly seem to be looking forward to this," Lucifer mumbled.
"Luke, Beelzebud, Leviathan, you will be sharing a room," Barbatos told them but, they were not listening.
"Ooh, what's this? Looks yummy..."
"Hey! That's a FIGURINE! It's Ruri-chan's pet Peetie the Pancake! It's NOT edible!" Levi shouted as he held the figurine close to his chest to keep it out of Beel's reach.
"I have a really, really bad feeling about this..." Luke mumbled.
"Simeon, Asmodeus, (Y/n), you'll be sharing a room," Barbatos called out our names and Mammon wasn't happy abou that.
"Wh...?!"
"And Solomon, Mammon, Satan, you'll be sharing a room as well. And that covers everyone."
"...Yo, Asmodeus. Switch rooms with me!" Mammon demanded.
"What? why?"
"Because, um...y'know...Solomon looks like he snores and...and Satan's feet probably stink..."
I sweat dropped at those lame excuses because I knew he was trying to find a way to stay close to me.
"Well, that's an awfully rude thing to accuse me of. And it's not true," Solomon pouted.
"My feet don't smell. Mammon, the truth is that you want to be in the same room as (Y/n), don't you?" Satan spoke with a frown.
"Wh?! You idi...! N-No I don't! Why would I want to share a room with (Y/n)?! I mean...a human?! And when you sleep in the same room as a human, their smell ends up rubbin' off on ya. So you should be grateful I'm even willin' to trade with ya! You should be HONORED, actually!" Mammon spoke in a loud voice.
"Look at how hard he's trying to deny it. loool" Levi laughed at Mammon.
"Ah...I see. So, that's why you want to switch rooms, is it? Well, in that case, the answer is no. Too bad!" Asmo stuck his tongue out at Mammon after saying this.
"WHY NOT?!"
"Maybe because I enjoy seeing that bitter, frustrated look on your face?"
"Gr...!" Mammon growled angrily.
"Ahaha! Yep, that's the one! I really DO love that look!" Asmo chuckled.
"How long do you plan on goofing around? Let's go. Time to take your belongings up to your rooms," Lucifer told us before grabbing Mammon by the ear.
"OWWWWW! Hey! Lucifer, stop! Quit pullin' me along by the ear! Ugh, COME ON! What'd I do to deserve this, huh?!"
I shook my head at him before I adjusted my bag and then we went to our assigned rooms. Once we got there, Raven was tugging on the leash and he shouted.
"Get this thing off of me! I hate the leash!"
"Hold still, hold still," I told him before I crouched down and then I took off the leash.
Raven shook his fur before he had a little wander in the room before jumping onto one of the beds.
"We claim this bed!" Raven shouted as he sat on the bed.
"We?" Simeon asked.
"Raven likes to cuddle up to me when I go to sleep," I told him before I placed my bag and guitar case onto the floor.
"Make sure he keeps his distance from me. The last thing I need is dog drool and fur on my bed," Asmo told me.
"Hey!!" Raven shouted angrily.
"I'll make sure Raven keeps his distance," I told Asmo before ruffling Raven's head.
"Well, it seems we've gotten ourselves settled here in our room now. Our belongings are in order and we've decided who'll be using which bed. So, Asmodeus, (Y/n), let me take this opportunity to say that I look forward to sharking a space with the two of you these next few days," Simeon told us.
"Yes, me too. And I have to say, (Y/n), Simeon, you two certainly lucked out, now didn't you?! Considering you get to share a room with me," Asmo spoke with a grin.
"Ah, yes. I suppose you could say we're lucky to have you on the team," Simeon spoke with a smile.
"Hehe. Now, now, there's no need to hide how thrilled you really are right now. Stop and think about it for a moment. You'll be sharing a room with me, with Asmodeus himself. Which means you'll be there to see me when I first wake up in the morning, after I've stepped out of the shower, when I get sleepy and start to doze off, when I'm changing clothes..."
"Ah! too much information!" Raven shouted before he covered his ears with his paws.
"For three days and two nights, you actually get to witness the most private sides of me. Now, if that's not what you call amazing luck, I don't know what is!"
"Ahahaha! I have to say, you really are funny, aren't you Asmodeus?"
"Funny? I believe you mean beautiful...<3 It's okay, you can just come out and say it, you know? What sort of image did you have of me in the first place, Simeon?" Asmodeus asked him.
"...Hmm, let me think. Well, I suppose I still think of you the same way I did back when you were up in the Celestial Realm. 'Lucifer, the pride of the Celestial Realm, loved by all of the creation... There was one angel he thought especially beautiful, one whom he praised and kept at his side. 'Twas Asmodeus, jewel of the heavens."' Simeon spoke.
"Yes...yes, exactly. That's me!" Asmodeus spoke in a cheerful tone.
"A traveling minstrel wrote that about you once, and it turned out to be an image that stuck. I suppose I see you as someone who's very attached to that reputation, and works day in and day out trying to live up to it."
"Huh? So you're saying that your image of me is of someone who wants to be loved?" Asmo asked him.
"Yes, I suppose that would be accurate," Simeon agreed.
"Mmm...I don't feel like that's a good description of me, personally. I mean, naturally I think no one in the three worlds is more deserving of love than I am. But that's just common sense, now isn't it? I mean, is there anyone out there who DOESN'T love me," Asmo asked outloud.
"Hmm, I wonder. If you were ever to come across a soul that you couldn't charm, that you couldn't control, how would you react? Hmm...It's an interesting question. Wouldn't you agree, (Y/n)?" Simeon told me before Asmodeus looked at me and asked me.
"(Y/n), what do you have to say about this? You think there's actually someone out there who does not love me?"
I shook my head for a no, "Nope."
"Right of course not! I completely agree," Asmo spoke in a happy tone before someone knocked on the door.
"Hey, the tour of the Demon Lord's Castle is starting soon," Satan told us after opening the door.
"Well, I suppose we should get going then," Simeon told us before we stood up from our places.
Raven hopped off the bed but before he could leave Satan stopped me and he told me.
"Don't forget, your familiar needs to be on a leash."
"Oh right...I forgot," I mumbled before I placed the leash back on Raven who was grumbling angrily before leaving the room.
