I'll Always Protect You

After Jessica's demand, Sam knew he had to go talk to Cody and his father. Jessica had good reasoning and Sam agreed with her 100%. It wasn't good for Olivia to have Cody hanging around. Sam needed to let him go and explain to his father everything that happened.

He slid on his boots, put on his hat then headed to the barn.

Jessica observed from the window. She was so angry with Cody. She couldn't stand looking at him. Over the last few months Jessica had lots of anger and anxiety going on inside of her. She's done her best making sure it didn't show.... but with Olivia and now Sean, Jessica felt like she was going insane.

"Hey, Sam! I'm Pumpkin picking ready! I brought Cody along for some help!" His father Frank says happily.

"Yeah, Frank, that's great.... but I need to speak with you alone. Do you mind coming in?" He says turning to his house.

When Jessica saw them walking towards the house she began to panic. She grabbed Logan and went into the family room so she wouldn't have to see him. She knew if she did she'd go crazy on Frank.

"Yeah, sure Sam. Everything okay?" Frank asks nervously as they walk in and sit down.

"Listen, I don't know if you knew this, but Cody and Olivia are no longer together."

"What? They aren't? Almost every day he says he's coming to see her." Frank says with shock

"No." Sam says

"What happened?" Frank asks

"Olivia was pregnant and things went down."

Frank's mouth drops. He didn't know what to say, he was so angry and disappointed with Cody.

"Sam- She was? Or is?" He asks nervously

Jessica stood on the other side of the kitchen door. She was boiling. Frank was a nice man, but before she knew it she had to take it out on someone.

She busted through the door. Shocking both men. Sam knew his wife better than anyone else. He knew the look on her face. She was about to break.

"She was!!! She was pregnant! Now, I'm not proud of that or joyous about my daughter having sex and getting pregnant, believe me' But your shit bag of a son drove her to kill herself! She sat in her room for three months! He spread it all around town and to her friends. She's the talk of the town! But she lost the baby.... do you know what your son said? Good, now leave me alone! I can't believe you let your son be such a douche bag. Expose her like he did. She almost died because of him and all of the grief he caused her! Get him off my property! Don't ever let him come back! Never! Ever! Ever!" Jessica yells as loud as she can.

Frank stands up. He was in disbelief that Jessica was yelling at him. Jessica was always so kind and understanding. He was sam's best friend too. His son burnt down his bridges.

Sam was just as shocked. Jessica started to bawl her eyes out. Little did she know, all there children were behind her and heard everything. They watched their mother hit rock bottom.

"Jessica, I had no idea.... I'll leave right now. I'm so-"

"No, I'm sorry.... I just, I need to go." She says running to get her coat and keys

"Jess, don't.... I don't want you out and alone." Sam says trying to stop her.

"No. I need to go, just let me be, Sam." She says storming out of the house.

"Sam, again, I'm so sorry. I take full responsibility for my son and his actions. I'm praying for Olivia and I'm so disappointed with everything he did. I think it's just best if I find somewhere else to go. I can't imagine causing Jessica any more grief." Frank says over the phone

"Frank.... you're my best friend and worker. I can't let you go. We just ask that Cody doesn't come here anymore, for Olivia."

"Of course, of course. But Cody is my son. I need to get him together. I just think he burnt my bridges. I'm sorry, Sam." Frank says with disappointment

"I wish I could change your mind...."

"But you can't. Thanks again for a great twenty years."

"Hey, Frank. Jessica didn't mean what she said."

"She did.... I understand. Goodbye."

It had been three hours since Jessica left. Her phone was still in the kitchen, there was no way of getting ahold of her. Sam knee she needed space so he let her be.

The kids were very worried.

"Was that frank?" Sean asks walking into sam's office with Olivia

"Yes... he resigned." Sam says with sadness

"Sam... I'm so sorry! This is all my fault." Olivia cries

Sam stands up and gives Olivia a long hug.

"It isn't... don't say that. None of this is your fault."

"Mom leaving is mine!" She cries

"Hey, look at me.... I think your mom is very stressed and needed some time alone. She needs to breathe."

"If it was anyone  fault it would be mine." Sean says

"Listen kid, you need to go get your education." Sam says sternly

"I know but...."

"I'll keep everyone safe, okay? I'll always protect my family because you all mean more to me then anyone else in the world. I promise you that. I won't let you down. When you're gone I'll take care of everyone. Just like I do now. But you're too smart to let an education like that go. It would be stupid!"

"And I'd finally have a reason to call you stupid!" Olivia finally cracks a joke

"That's a deal breaker.... I'll go back. I can't let her call me stupid." Sean chuckles

Sam lets him in on the hug and chuckles "Yeah, we would all call you stupid." Sam jokes

"Hey! Stupid is a bad word!" Logan says walking in.

"Yeah! You're right, buddy!" Sam says picking him up.

Sam holds his life in his arms. All three kids. Now, he was waiting for Jessica, is other half.
