Chapter 14
The sun has already risen a great deal into the sky by the time we begin moving for the day. It colors everything in a cheery shade of yellow light, though I do not enjoy it much. I have a pounding headache that refuses to leave, and the bright light of the day only makes it more unbearable. It begins to cause me to once again lag behind the others, my feet dragging. The poison seems to be slowly spreading back into my bloodstream, and by mid-day I had developed a slight limp, which strikes me as odd considering the stab wound had been in my shoulder. My thoughts are quickly becoming muddled though, and thinking about much of anything soon becomes an impossible task.
We stop to rest much more frequently than we should be; I guess I did not do a very thorough job removing the poison from that blade; it is still affecting me greatly. My eyesight also begins to distort itself again, the landscape swimming.
"Be more cautious. You are as clumsy as a child." Raenor snaps at me when I accidentally bump into him. I can no longer even see what stands right in front of me; Raenor is just a blur and I can only recognize everyone by their voice and the pattern of their light steps.
I recoil slightly, Raenor's words stinging more than I let show on my face. I presume it is Legolas that glances at Raenor, an eyebrow raised. Good, so I was not the only one who thought that oddly harsh. I grit my teeth and rise unsteadily to my feet, trying to ground down into the earth to keep my balance. I begin to sway of center though, and Legolas quickly helps me sit back down.
"You are getting worse. You cannot force yourself to keep moving; it will kill you."
"We have to keep moving. Delaying an-"
Legolas cuts me off gently. "You will not be of any help to him if you are just as sick."
I open my mouth, but then shut it again; it was impossible to argue with that logic.
"I see your point." I reply grudgingly, blinking my eyes in the hope my sight will fix itself.
"We will rest here." Legolas says, more of an order than a request.
I can practically see Raenor rolling his eyes.
