Water pipe
" Latatatitati......." Mia hummed as she skipped down to the bathroom and turned the shower on. " Time to have a spa day!"
She changed into her spa clothes and added a bath bomb, watching as it fizzed.
The cat strutted in and hopped onto the toilet lid. " Amateur."
Mia sighed. " One; what are you doing here? Two; what do you mean by amateur?!"
" I'm chillin'."
" While I'm in the bathroom?!"
Blackie yawned. " Look, kiddo. I'm a cat."
Mia sighed. " Fiiiiiine."
She turned the water off and squealed, then jumped into the water.
She stayed there for a while, then surfaced.
The first thing she yelled was, " THE WATER'S COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLD!"
" What do you mean the water was cold?!" Jay asked.
Mia crossed her arms and leaned on the wall. " You heard me right. It's cold."
" She is correct." Zane said as he walked out of the bathroom. " It is dangerously cold. I suggest not to use the restroom until the issue is resolved."
The ninja stared at him.
" That's impossible!" Jay exclaimed.
" He's right." Kai agreed.
" We have to use it." Lloyd piped up.
Cole sighed. " We could use..... other places."
The other ninja glared at him.
" No." They all chorused.
Mia was deep in thought. " If the water's cold, that means......"
She snapped her fingers and ran out the door. Jay turned.
" Where are you going?" He called.
Mia waved as Sapphire ( her blue dragon) took flight. " I'll see you later byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!"
Blackie meowed from her neck. " It's true." He said smugly. " She will see you later."
Kai blinked. " Okay that cat's annoying."
Lloyd shrugged helplessly. " What can we do about it? Mia loves him. Besides, he's actually not so bad."
Jay sighed and nodded. " Yeah. Blackie was Mia's first gift. He's been with her since she opened her eyes. That girl loves the cat."
Nya smiled faintly as she walked out. " Let's just hope she can figure out what's with the water. Because Zane's malfunctioning in there."
" Where are we going?" Mia huffed as Nelson turned a corner.
Blackie was running behind. " Why are we running?!"
Nelson briefly met eyes with his girlfriend. " You said the water's cold, right?"
" Mhm."
" Then that means something's wrong with the water pipes."
Mia raised a brow. " What?"
" Because for the past few days, my house and the other houses in the community have had cold water!"
Mia raised a brow as her cat jumped onto her back. " So......?"
Nelson quickly explained, "So, if the water's cold everywhere, that means something bigger is going on with the pipes. It could be a major issue with the water supply or even a leak somewhere down the line."
Mia narrowed her eyes, now intrigued. "Alright, alright. I see where you're going with this. We have a mystery on our hands."
Blackie, who had been lazily lounging on Mia's back, perked up. "A mystery?" he said, his ears twitching. "This is getting interesting."
Mia clenched her fists. "Let's figure this out. It's got to be a problem we can solve. Maybe it's something... or someone messing with the water supply."
Nelson nodded in agreement. "Exactly. We should check out the main water plant. If it's malfunctioning there, it could explain why everyone's getting cold water."
"Alright!" Mia said, her eyes lighting up with excitement. "Let's go, team!"
The trio headed out, with Blackie perched proudly on Mia's shoulder. As they arrived at the water plant, Mia squinted her eyes at the large structure in the distance. "This place looks a little... off," she muttered.
Nelson, looking a little nervous, said, "I don't know, Mia. It feels like something's been tampered with."
"Could be," Mia replied. "Let's check it out."
The trio snuck inside the water plant, avoiding security. Mia led the way, her sharp eyes scanning every corner. As they reached the control room, Mia noticed a set of wires that looked like they'd been cut. "Gotcha!" she exclaimed, pointing to the damaged cables.
Blackie, who had been unusually quiet, jumped off Mia's shoulder and padded over to the wires. "This looks like someone was trying to mess with the power here," he commented, sniffing the area suspiciously.
"Someone wants the whole community to have cold water," Nelson said grimly.
Mia bit her lip, her mind working quickly. "We need to find out who. It's probably someone who wants to disrupt the water flow. If we can fix these wires, we can stop this cold water problem."
Nelson raised an eyebrow. "You know how to fix them?"
Mia grinned. "Of course I do. I've fixed worse."
She quickly pulled out her tools, which were always in her bag, and began to work on the wires. With a few precise moves, the wires were back in place. "All done," she said, wiping her hands on her pants.
Suddenly, the lights in the room flickered, and a loud buzzing noise echoed from the pipes.
"Uh-oh," Blackie muttered, his tail flicking nervously. "I think we triggered something."
Before Mia or Nelson could react, the walls around them began to shake, and the ground rumbled beneath their feet.
Mia stood up straight, her face hardening with determination. "We've got trouble," she said. "Looks like someone doesn't want us fixing the problem."
As the rumbling intensified, a loud voice boomed from somewhere deep within the plant. "You shouldn't have interfered," it said ominously.
Mia, now more focused than ever, turned to Nelson. "Stay close. Whatever this is, we can handle it."
"Right behind you," Nelson replied, his confidence rising.
Mia shot a glance at Blackie, who was now fully alert. "We've got this, buddy."
Blackie meowed softly, eyes narrowed. "Let's get to the bottom of this."
The three of them moved swiftly, ready to uncover who or what was behind the sabotaged water system and put an end to it once and for all.
As the rumbling settled, Mia, Nelson, and Blackie ventured deeper into the water plant. They carefully made their way through a narrow hallway, the sound of the pipes buzzing in the background. The tension was thick, but as they turned a corner, they froze.
Lying in the middle of the floor was a small, unassuming robot toy. Its metal frame was covered in scratches, and it looked like it had been discarded or left behind. The toy's eyes flickered with a faint blue light, and it slowly turned its head toward them.
Nelson blinked in disbelief. "Huh?! What is this doing here?"
Mia crossed her arms and squinted. "Oh really? A robot toy? That's the big mystery? Someone went through all this trouble for a toy?"
Blackie hopped up onto a nearby crate and let out a dramatic yawn. "You guys are such idiots," he drawled, his tail flicking lazily. "It's just a toy. What are you even thinking? You really thought it was something serious?"
Mia rolled her eyes. "Well, it's not like I was expecting an army of evil minions or something, but—" She stopped mid-sentence and leaned closer to the toy, inspecting it. "Wait a minute..."
Nelson frowned, bending down to get a better look. "What? What's wrong with it?"
Mia reached down and picked up the little robot, turning it over in her hands. "This isn't just a regular toy," she said, her voice lowering. "This is a remote-controlled robot. Someone's been using it to tamper with the water supply."
Blackie hopped off the crate, now much more interested. "Huh, didn't see that coming. So, it wasn't some big mastermind villain after all... just a little toy doing all the damage."
Nelson looked back at Mia, slightly embarrassed. "So, we were chasing after nothing, huh?"
Mia shot him a playful grin. "Hey, you were just following my lead. I'm the one who got us into this mess."
Nelson chuckled nervously. "Right. So, what now?"
Mia raised an eyebrow. "Now, we figure out who's controlling it. This thing didn't get here by itself."
Blackie flicked his tail, clearly unimpressed. "Better get moving, kiddos. I'm already bored."
Mia's face hardened with determination. "Alright. Let's find out who's behind this." She glanced at the toy and grinned. "Time to return the favor."
The ground shook as the now-gigantic robot took another lumbering step forward, sending vibrations through the air. Nelson clung desperately to one of its massive legs, his knuckles turning white as he yelled, "This isn't exactly what I had in mind when you said, 'return the favor'!"
Mia, sitting casually on the robot's shoulder like she was lounging on a hammock, gave him a wide grin. One arm rested lazily on her knee, the other gripping a makeshift control panel. "Yeah, so? It's working, isn't it?" she called back, her voice full of mischief.
The robot took another step, and Nelson let out a panicked squeak as he nearly lost his grip. "Mia, please! Let's go slower! Please!"
Mia leaned over the control panel, tapping a few buttons as she squinted at the display. "This is as slow as it goes, Nelson! Relax!" She laughed, clearly enjoying herself. "You're not scared of heights, are you?"
Nelson's eyes widened in horror as the robot began to sway. "It's not the height I'm worried about—it's falling off and getting squished like a bug!"
From her perch, Mia rolled her eyes dramatically. "You're so dramatic. I've got this under control." She turned to look at Blackie, who was perched on the other shoulder, calmly grooming his fur. "Right, Blackie?"
The cat flicked an ear but didn't stop grooming. "Oh, sure. Totally under control. Except for the part where it almost fell over ten seconds ago."
Nelson groaned. "You're not helping, cat!"
The robot took another thunderous step, and Mia grinned even wider. "Okay, we're almost at the source of the signal. Whoever's controlling this thing won't know what hit them!"
"Yeah, because we'll be the ones hitting them when we crash!" Nelson shouted, clinging tighter.
Mia laughed, her voice full of excitement. "Relax, Nelson. This is the fun part!" Then she pushed a button, causing the robot to pick up speed slightly—just enough to make the ride even bumpier.
Nelson let out a terrified scream. "THIS IS NOT FUN!"
"Speak for yourself!" Mia shouted back, clearly having the time of her life. Blackie, now lying flat to avoid being tossed off, sighed dramatically.
"You two are going to be the death of me," the cat muttered.
The gigantic robot lumbered forward, and Nelson was still hanging on for dear life, yelling over the creaks and groans of its massive movements.
"Mia, this thing's gonna kill us before we even find out who's controlling it!" he shouted, his voice rising in panic.
Mia, still perched confidently on the robot's shoulder, smirked. "Stop being so dramatic, Nelson. We're fine!"
Suddenly, without warning, a massive building materialized directly in their path. The robot didn't slow down—it charged forward like it didn't even notice.
Nelson's eyes widened in terror. "Mia! BUILDING! BIG BUILDING! RIGHT IN FRONT OF US!"
Mia glanced up casually. "Huh. That's new."
Before either of them could react further, the robot smashed right through the building as if it were made of paper. Glass shattered, walls crumbled, and debris flew everywhere. Nelson let out a high-pitched scream as he clung to the robot's leg, somehow managing not to lose his grip.
On the other hand, Mia was laughing uncontrollably, even as bits of dust and rubble rained down on her. "Did you see that?! That was awesome!"
Nelson, covered in dust and trying to catch his breath, glared up at her. "Awesome?! We just went through a building! A BUILDING, MIA!"
Blackie, who had managed to hold on to his perch like the seasoned pro he was, shook his head, his tail flicking in irritation. "You two are absolute idiots."
Mia raised an eyebrow and grinned. "Oh, come on, Blackie. Don't act like you didn't enjoy that. I saw your tail fluff up—it was excitement!"
"Excitement?! My life flashed before my eyes, you maniac!" Blackie shot back.
Nelson groaned. "Can we at least agree to avoid the next building? Assuming we survive this?"
Mia tapped a few buttons on the control panel, brushing off his concern. "Relax, Nelson. I've got this under control. What's one little building anyway?"
Nelson groaned louder as the robot smashed through another wall, this time sending a shower of bricks tumbling around them.
"Apparently, just the first of many!" Blackie said with a huff. "You two are the worst adventurers ever."
Nelson wiped swamp muck off his face, his eye twitching as he glared at Mia. A frog lazily leaped off a lily pad that had somehow landed on his head, croaking in protest. "Mia," he said in a low, dangerous tone, water dripping from his hair. "Explain."
Blackie, perched nearby and soggy from head to tail, spit out a piece of fish with a disgusted expression. "I'm wet. I hate being wet."
Mia stood waist-deep in swamp water, nervously laughing as she rubbed the back of her neck. "Okay, so... the robot might've fallen into a swamp."
"Might've?" Nelson growled, gesturing wildly at their swampy surroundings. "We are in the swamp, Mia! And so is the robot! How does this even happen?!"
Mia shrugged with an awkward grin. "But didn't we have fun while it fell? I mean, the way it toppled was kinda cool, right?"
"Fun?" Nelson exclaimed, flinging a handful of algae off his sleeve. "Fun?! I almost got crushed by a giant robot and now I'm covered in swamp slime! How is this your definition of fun?!"
Blackie, sitting on a partially submerged log, flicked his soaked tail with disdain. "This is the least fun I've ever had. And I live with her. That says a lot."
Mia crossed her arms, trying to salvage the situation. "Oh, come on, you two. It's just a little water. Look on the bright side—at least we didn't hit any more buildings, right?"
Nelson groaned and sank down onto a floating piece of debris, muttering to himself about poor life choices.
The frog, apparently the only one unbothered, plopped onto Blackie's head. Blackie's eyes narrowed dangerously. "Kid," he hissed at Mia, "get this swamp rat off me right now before I lose what little patience I have left."
Mia couldn't help but burst out laughing, which only earned her a glare from both Nelson and Blackie. "Okay, okay!" she said, wading over to rescue the cat and frog. "Let's get out of here and dry off. Next time, Nelson, you drive the robot!"
Nelson muttered under his breath. "There isn't going to be a next time."
"Yaaaaaaay, we're moving again!" Mia cheered, throwing her arms up and nearly losing her balance on the swampy ground.
The giant robot sputtered to life, its limbs creaking as it rose from the muck like some sort of mechanical swamp monster. Water and algae dripped off its joints, and it made an ominous gurgling sound as its systems rebooted.
Nelson clung to one of the robot's legs, groaning. "Oh, great. Now it's a swamp robot."
Blackie shook himself off with a look of utter disdain, hopping onto a safer perch on Mia's shoulder. "This thing smells worse than you after a sparring session."
Mia stuck her tongue out at the cat. "Don't be rude, Blackie. It's not that bad!" She patted the robot affectionately, as if it were an old friend. "See? Back in action!"
The robot's head tilted to the side, emitting a low whirring noise that sounded suspiciously like a protest.
Nelson finally managed to climb up to a safer spot on the robot's torso, his face still twisted in annoyance. "If this thing falls into another swamp, I'm calling someone else to help you next time, Mia."
"Aw, don't be such a grump!" Mia teased, steering the robot forward with a triumphant grin. "We're making progress! Look, the swamp's behind us!"
Blackie squinted at the horizon, unimpressed. "Barely."
The robot gave a mighty lurch, and Nelson yelped as he nearly slid off again. Mia just laughed, oblivious to his panic. "Hold on tight, everyone! Adventure waits for no one!"
Nelson let out a long, dramatic sigh. "Why do I even put up with this?"
"Because you love me," Mia said with a cheeky grin.
Nelson huffed, crossing his arms, but didn't argue. Blackie rolled his eyes. "This is why I need a vacation."
As the robot trudged forward, Mia's communicator buzzed, and Nelson reluctantly answered. "Hello?"
Jay's voice came through, cheerful and unsuspecting. "Hey, Nelson! How's it going? Everything under control?"
Nelson, drenched in swamp water and holding onto the robot for dear life, deadpanned into the communicator. "Oh, just great, Jay. My girlfriend decided to pilot a giant robot that she somehow managed to build, and guess what? It fell into a swamp!"
There was a pause. Jay's voice finally came back, a mix of confusion and amusement. "Wait... you're telling me Mia built a giant robot? And it fell into a swamp?"
"Yup!" Nelson replied, voice dripping with sarcasm. "Totally normal day. I'm just living the dream here, Jay!"
In the background, Mia was cheering as the robot stomped over a boulder, completely oblivious to Nelson's tone. "Go, robot, go! You're the best!"
Jay couldn't help but laugh. "Man, you've got your hands full with her, huh?"
"Understatement of the year," Nelson grumbled.
Blackie, lounging smugly on Mia's shoulder, chimed in loud enough for Jay to hear. "Don't forget to mention the part where I got soaked and still look better than everyone else."
Jay snorted. "Sounds like you guys are having quite the adventure. Just... try to bring that robot back in one piece, okay?"
Nelson sighed. "No promises, Jay. No promises."
Before he could hang up, Mia leaned over and shouted into the communicator. "Don't worry, Jay! We've totally got this under control!"
The robot immediately stumbled, and Nelson yelled as he grabbed onto a nearby panel. Jay's laughter echoed through the call. "Yeah, I'm sure you do. Good luck, buddy."
As the robot powered through the swamp, a sudden malfunction caused it to lurch forward uncontrollably.
"Uh, Mia," Nelson began nervously, "why are we speeding up?"
Mia, furiously flipping switches and pressing buttons, replied, "I think the swamp water messed with the circuits. Hang on—I've almost got it!"
Blackie rolled his eyes. "This is why you don't take shortcuts through swamps."
Before anyone could respond, the robot broke free from the swamp and launched itself into the air.
"Woooooo!" Mia cheered, throwing her hands up like they were on a roller coaster.
Nelson, on the other hand, was clinging for dear life. "This isn't fun anymore!"
Their excitement (or terror) was cut short when the robot plummeted back down—right into a vast, scorching desert.
BOOM!
The robot hit the sand face-first, sending up a cloud of dust. Mia, Nelson, and Blackie tumbled out and landed in a heap.
Nelson groaned, wiping sand off his face. "Great. Now we're in a desert. And it's literally the hottest place on Earth."
Mia sat up, squinting at the shimmering horizon. "Ooooh, it's like a giant sand sauna! Feels like... what, 30056 degrees?"
Nelson shot her a look. "Mia, that's not a thing! That's death! We're going to melt out here!"
Blackie staggered out of the pile, his fur puffed up and his tail dragging in the sand. "I am not built for this. Someone get me an umbrella and a cold fish, pronto."
Mia brushed herself off, unbothered by the blazing heat. "C'mon, you two! It's just a little sand. Besides, we've got the robot to fix and some pipes to investigate!"
Nelson pointed at the robot, half-buried in the sand with smoke rising from its circuits. "Yeah, good luck fixing that in this heat."
Blackie flopped dramatically onto the sand. "I'll be here, dying in style."
Mia grinned, undeterred. "Don't worry, I've got a plan! Now, where's my toolkit?"
Nelson groaned, muttering under his breath. "Why do I always let her talk me into these things?"
" Come on, Mr. robot! GIve it your all!" Mia urged.
A few feet away, the cat and Nelson sat, fanning themselves.
" Right...." the boyfriend muttered. " Give it your all."
Suddenly, his phone rang.
" Hello?"
Jay and Kai's voice came though. " Hey, buddy?" Jay asked.
" What's going on? Why aren't you back yet?" Kai added.
Nelson sighed, wiping sweat from his brow as he answered the call. "Oh, you know, the usual. Just sitting in the middle of a literal oven while my girlfriend tries to fix a robot that fell into a swamp and now refuses to work in a desert."
Jay's laughter crackled through the phone. "Wait, wait—you're saying Mia's robot fell into a swamp and broke down in a desert? Sounds like quite the adventure!"
Kai, less amused, chimed in. "Nelson, how are you two still alive? It's got to be over 120 degrees out there."
Nelson glanced at Blackie, who was sprawled out dramatically, batting lazily at a tumbleweed rolling by. "Barely. The cat's already given up on life."
Blackie lifted his head just enough to yell toward the phone, "Send snacks!" before flopping back down.
Jay chuckled again. "Classic Blackie."
Kai groaned. "Look, just get back here as soon as you can. Zane's still glitching, and we really don't need more chaos. Is the robot going to work or not?"
Nelson glanced over at Mia, who was cheering on the robot like it was about to win a championship. "Uh...define 'work.'"
Suddenly, the robot sputtered, sparks flying, before letting out a mechanical roar and lurching to life.
"Yaaaaay! Go, Mr. Robot!" Mia cheered, hopping up and down.
Nelson sighed into the phone. "Well, it's alive now. Sort of. I'll call you back if it doesn't try to kill us first."
"Good luck!" Jay said cheerfully before hanging up.
Kai's voice echoed in the background before the line cut, "Why do we always let Mia do this stuff?"
" This had better work, Mimi." Nelson said.
" Oh don't worry." Mia said brightly. " It will."
Nelson raised an eyebrow, brushing sand off his shirt as the robot powered up with a series of clanks and whirrs. "Yeah, you've said that every time something explodes or falls apart, and here we are. Covered in sand. Again."
Mia grinned, unbothered. "But this time, I really mean it!" She patted the robot affectionately, ignoring its jerky movements and occasional sparks. "Mr. Robot just needed a little desert motivation!"
Blackie, sprawled across Nelson's lap, rolled his eyes. "Desert motivation. Sure. What could go wrong?"
Nelson sighed, adjusting his grip on the fan he'd been using to survive the heat. "If this thing blows up or digs us deeper into this sandbox, I'm holding you responsible, Mimi."
Mia winked, hopping onto the robot's shoulder. "Oh, relax! I've totally got this under control." She dramatically pointed forward. "Onward, Mr. Robot! To victory—or at least, to the nearest source of cold water!"
The robot groaned, gears grinding, and took a slow, lumbering step. Sand flew everywhere, coating Nelson and Blackie in a fresh layer of grit.
Nelson coughed, glaring at Mia. "This had better work."
"It will!" Mia called down cheerfully, dusting sand off her arm. "Trust me, Nelson. I'm a genius."
"Uh-huh," Blackie muttered, spitting sand from his mouth. "Genius. That's one word for it."
As the group finally reached the outskirts of the city, Mia hopped off the robot with a victorious grin. But something about the bustling streets seemed to flip a switch in her. She clenched her fists and shouted at a group of kids playing with a soccer ball nearby.
"Hey! Keep it down, you little hooligans!" Mia barked. "Some of us are trying to save the world here!"
The kids froze, wide-eyed, before scattering like startled pigeons.
Nelson ran over, horrified. "Mia! What are you doing?"
"Teaching them manners!" Mia snapped, crossing her arms. "Noisy brats think they can just run around causing chaos? Unacceptable!"
Before Nelson could respond, Mia had already spotted another group of kids eating ice cream on a bench. She stormed over. "Don't you know littering is bad for the planet? I don't see a trash can anywhere near you, so what's your plan, huh?!"
The kids dropped their cones and bolted, crying for their parents.
Nelson grabbed Mia by the shoulders, pulling her away. "Mimi, what's gotten into you? You can't just yell at random kids like that!"
Mia shrugged him off. "I'm just doing what needs to be done, Nelson! Someone has to keep these little terrors in line!"
Nelson groaned and firmly took her hand, dragging her toward the robot. "Nope. We are leaving. Immediately."
Blackie trotted behind them, shaking his head. "You've really outdone yourself this time, Mia. Congratulations. You're a menace to society."
"I am not a menace!" Mia protested as Nelson hauled her onto the robot. "I'm a hero!"
"A hero who terrorizes children," Nelson grumbled, steering the robot away from the city. "Come on, Mimi. Let's get out of here before we're banned from another town."
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the group finally stumbled back to the monastery, dusty, disheveled, and thoroughly exhausted. Mia hopped off the robot with a triumphant grin, Blackie perched indignantly on her shoulder.
Nelson, however, looked like he had been through a war. His hair stuck out in all directions, his clothes were caked in dirt, and his face wore a permanent expression of defeat.
Master Wu greeted them at the entrance with a serene smile. "Ah, Nelson. Would you like some tea?"
Nelson's eyes twitched. Without a word, he stormed into the kitchen, grabbed ten tea bags, and shoved them all into his mouth. Before anyone could react, he poured cold water down his throat, chugging it as if it were the elixir of life.
"Nelson—!" Mia began, wide-eyed.
But Nelson wasn't done. He grabbed a plate of cookies, stuffed every single one into his mouth at once, and then reached for the salt shaker. Sprinkling it into his mouth like it was candy, he let out a muffled grunt of frustration.
The room fell silent as everyone stared at him in shock.
Jay finally broke the silence. "Uh...you okay there, buddy?"
Nelson glared at him, his mouth still full. "No."
Kai blinked. "What...what just happened?"
Nelson swallowed with great difficulty, his voice hoarse. "I just survived a swamp, a desert, a psychotic robot, and my girlfriend yelling at children. I needed this."
Wu stroked his beard thoughtfully. "Perhaps some meditation would help?"
Nelson shot him a look that could have melted steel. "No offense, Master Wu, but if I never meditate again, it'll still be too soon."
Mia snickered. "Aww, you're just grumpy. Admit it, you had fun!"
Nelson gave her a tired glare. "Mimi, I love you, but fun is not the word I would use to describe today."
Blackie licked his paw, unimpressed. "Frankly, I'm amazed he's still standing."
Everyone else burst into laughter as Nelson plopped onto the floor, muttering about needing a vacation from his vacation.
