Chapter 5
The class went by relatively quick, unlike most days. The bell rang and that resulted in the triplets to stand up simultaneously.
"See ya tomorrow Lou." Jordan waved good bye to Louie once out the door. Dewey watched, an annoyed expression on his face as he turned away from his brothers.
"Bye." Louie waved back and smiled. He turned to look at his brothers. "I'll see you guys after third period at lunch. Same place?" He asked. Dewey nodded with a smile.
"You know it." Huey smiled.
"Our tree in the back of the school." The triplets smiled as they said that sentence as one. Dewey laughed slightly.
"See you guys." Louie stated walking towards his next class.
"Bye." Dewey waved to his brother and looked over at Huey.
"You still haven't told him, huh?" Huey asked.
"Told him? What are you talking about?" The blue triplet asked with a nervous laugh as he began walking with his brother to their next class.
"You know what I'm talking about Dewford." Huey stated. Dewey sighed.
"I thought you forgot about that."
"How could I forget? You've been crushing on our baby brother since seventh grade." Dewey looked away, slightly embarassed.
"Just, shut up and go to your dorky music class." He muttered.
"Orchestra is not dorky, and what about you and choir?" Huey teased. "Isn't that considered girly?"
"Wha? It, is, not girly Hubert." Dewey claimed. "There are plenty other guys in the choir."
"Yeah, you and one other." Huey laughed a bit.
"Nuh-uh, there's at least six of us, and at least choirs are not dissed on as much as violas."
"Violas are cool Dewey." The eldest triplet claimed.
"Yeah right, bases are way cooler. That and the marching band at our local high school."
"Ugh! Don't even get me started on band kids Dewford."
"Okay, fine, the bell's gonna ring soon. See you after class Hue."
"Bye." With that, Dewey walked into his classroom. He sighed, setting his things down and heading over to where the teacher would take attendance.
"Hey." A voice stated.
"Oh, hi Andy." (Connections??)
"You okay?" She asked.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just sleepy." Dewey explained.
"Well rise and shine sleepy head, cause we're getting a new assignment today."
"A new assignment? What kind?"
"If you kids were quiet, I would be able to tell you." The teacher scolded.
"Sorry Mr. Claw." The class stated.
"Your next assignment will be to get into groups of ten and reenact a scene from an assigned musical. Every student must participate and play a role as well as have at least two lines in a song." The class talked within themselves excitedly.
"This is going to be so cool, don't you think Dewey?" Andy asked.
"Totally. It's going to be awesome."
"Dewford." Mr. Claw called out sternly.
"Yes sir?" Dewey replied, walking over to where his teacher was.
"Listen here Duck, I don't know who you think you are, or what you think you are doing going through my files after class, but I will not tolerate this kind of behavior young man." Dewey looked at his teacher in confusion.
"I don't know what you're talking about sir." Dewey stated.
"This is your feather, correct?" The middle triplet looked at the feather and shook his head.
"No sir, that's not mine."
"There are no other white plumed birds in this room Dewford, don't lie to me. I found this feather next to my desk." Mr. Claw looked down at the young duck.
"I didn't do anything!"
"Alright then, detention, two days."
"What!? I didn't do anything, I swear." Dewey defended himself.
"One, week and you are not alowed to participate in the assignment. For, one, going through a teacher's desk, and two, lying even if it was blatantly obvious that you were the guilty party."
"That's so unfair, ugh, what the frick!" Dewey crossed his arms in anger.
"Go back to your place." The blue triplet walked back to where he would stand, in front of his friend Andy.
"What was that about? You didn't really go through Mr. Claw's stuff did you?" The girl asked.
"Of course not, he just hates me." He explained.
"Don't exagerate, he doesn't hate you."
"He gave me a solo once. A girl solo, in soprano! I can't sing that high, and he failed me when I couldn't."
"Calm down Dewey, you're freaking out again."
"Okay, okay.....but I just can't take it! I can't sing soprano! I'm a tenor! You're an alto, you should know how dificult it is on the vocal chords to sing that high!"
"Well, no, I don't, but calm down, you're gonna have another panic attack."
"No, I'm fine, I'm, perfectly, perfectly fine!" Dewey stated in a shaky voice, gripping his arms tightly.
"Dewey, calm down, it's okay." Andy said calmly. The two of them have been friends since the begining of middle school, which was also the time that Dewey's panic attacks began occuring. "Breath, Dew, breath."
"I-I can't....!"
"Mr. Claw, they need to step outside, Dewey's having another panic attack." A seventh grader stated, his hand raised. The teacher sighed.
"Alright, go." Andy led Dewey outside of the classroom and waited for him to calm down. Around ten minutes later, the middle triplet's breathing steadied.
"Good job Dewey, that was quicker than most other days." She stated. Dewey nodded softly, sliding down the wall and sitting down. Andy sat down next to him right after. "That's the third time this week Dewey. What's bothering you?"
"You mean besides Mr. Claw, Mr. Vyse, and....my crush on..., you know who, nothing." Andy nodded in understanding.
"Okay, I don't need your sarcasm though." She laughed, nudging him gently. Dewey laughed as well, nudging her back. "How are things with you and 'you know who'?" Andy asked.
"Well....don't tell anyone, but, he told me that he's gay." Dewey explained.
"Really?" She asked. "That's great, it means you might have a chance."
"I doubt it, he told me that he had a crush on Jordan."
"My brother? Seriously?" The girl asked.
"Yeah, I know. No offense, but, he could do better, if not me, then, someone else, right?" Dewey stated.
"Yeah, no offense taken, my brother's, the, worst." Andy stated. "He could definantly do better than Jordan." The middle triplet sighed.
"I just wish I had the guts to tell him." Dewey his his face in his arms, Andy placing her hand on his back.
"You will one day, you don't have to force yourself to be brave. Take me for instance, I built up the courage to finally tell my parents I was trans, so, you know, it takes a while."
"Yeah, can you explain to me, how, that works again?"
"Again Dewford? Really?" Dewey laughed nervously and nodded. "Okay, so, I'm biologically a girl, but, I'm not a girl, I'm a boy, get it?"
"Yeah, I get it." He stated. "That's so brave of you to come out like that. I could never do that."
"I'm think you can do it, I believe in you."
"Huey knows, but not my uncles, or Louie."
"There's nothing wrong with being pansexual Dewey." Andy claimed.
"I know that, I'm proud being pan, it's just, I don't like the thought of being judged."
"You won't be judged Dewey, this school is LGBT friendly, and if you are judged, then I'll protect you, we are best friends after all." Dewey laughed slightly.
"Thanks Andy." Suddenly, next to them, the classroom door opened.
"Are you two done out here? Mr. Claw's about to have a fit. The tenors and altos suck without you two there." The seventh grader from earlier stated.
"Hey!"
"We heard that kid!"
"Just shut up and get them back in here!"
"Come on you two." He stated, pulling Dewey and Andy into the class. The two of them going back to their spots.
"Dewford, Andrea." Mr. Claw stated.
"Dewey."
"Andy." The two muttered.
"Okay students, 1, 2..." Mr. Claw conducted the students to begin singing.
