*Five Weeks Later*
Stevie and Christine's stay at the beach house was going smoothly. Stevie was actually finding some peace and as each day passed, her heart healed a little more. It was like a breath of fresh air for both Christine and Stevie.
They both had done a lot during their stay in Maui. Of course, Christine had to do a little convincing to get Stevie out of the house on some days.
Stevie was grateful for Christine and even though she didn't really want to do much, she did anyway.
Stevie knew she couldn't shut the world out or else she would return to the dark thoughts of joining Dylan. So, she made the effort and went out with Christine.
Each night of their stay, Stevie would walk the shore. Her bare feet feeling good as the water would rush into shore caressing her feet then the water would recede back to the ocean. Stevie would also take in the scenery, she would relish in the moon shining down on her.
Also, each night, Stevie would speak to Sara before Sara went to bed. They would talk for an hour or so and after, Stevie would write in her journal in bed. She wrote all she was feeling down on paper. It was very therapeutic like it has always been.
On their last night of their stay, Christine and Stevie were having dinner.
Christine glanced up and smiled at Stevie. "I'm glad you've got your appetite back." She said.
Stevie smiled back and said. "I know. I just, I don't why but I'm just so hungry all the time now." She giggled. " I need stop before I gain anymore weight."
"Oh, Stevie stop!" Christine chuckled. "You look great."
Stevie thanked her then took a sip of her wine. Stevie then put her glass down and said. "Thank you, Christine for suggesting we come here." Stevie said. "It's been amazing and it's helped a lot."
"You're welcome." Christine said. "I was very worried about you. I hated to see you in so much pain. I know it'll never go away, but I hope you are feeling a bit better."
Stevie nodded and said. "You're right. The pain of losing Dylan is still there and will always be. But, I am feeling better."
Stevie stayed quiet for a moment then said. "I had dream a few weeks ago about Dylan." She smiled with tears in her eyes. "He looked so healthy and he was smiling...it was good to see him like that again. He hugged me and I hugged him back. It felt so real. When he pulled away, he said. "Mom, please don't be sad. I'm okay now, I'm healthy again. I'm not stuck in a hospital bed anymore." He then looked at me with so much concern and said. "Please, take care of yourself and don't hurt yourself. I know you miss me and I miss you too, but it's not your time to join me yet."
Stevie's tears rolled down her cheeks. She looked down and continued.
"You have many, many, many years left on earth, Mom. Sara still needs you and..." I'm not sure what else he said. He stopped talking for a moment then he continued. "It's time for me to go. Promise me you will take care of yourself?" I nodded then I promised I would. He then smiled wide and said. "I love you, Mom. I'll see you later. Much, much later." He laughed, kissed my cheek, then he was gone."
Stevie wiped her tears away. "I know it was just a dream, but I took what he said to heart. I want to keep my promise to him. He's right, Sara still needs me and, I need to be there for her. Although, I wish I knew what else he had to say when he stopped talking so suddenly." She said with smile. "Whatever it was, I know I can't give up. I want to live for Sara and I want to find myself again without Lindsey. I'm going to be okay, Christine. Little by little, I know I'll find my way."
Christine smiled through her tears and wiped them away. She took hold of Stevie's hand and said. "I think Dylan did come to you in your dream and he wanted you to know that he was okay. I'm glad you got to see him."
Stevie squeezed Christine's hand as she smiled. It finally reached her eyes and Christine knew, things were going to be okay.
The next day, Stevie woke up feeling under the weather. But she pushed through because they would be leaving the beach house really soon. She made sure all her things were packed and she met Christine downstairs with her suitcases.
Christine made a small breakfast; oatmeal and toast. Stevie began to eat but soon stopped. She began to feel nauseas.
Stevie waited a moment then suddenly, the feeling was gone. She went back to eating and was able to finish her breakfast.
Before they knew it, Stevie and Christine were flying back home. This time around, Stevie and Christine spoke and hung out the whole flight.
Stevie was still feeling under the weather but she was also feeling very optimistic about her return back to California.
Sorry for such a short chapter. This was more of filler.
More to come soon!
