Four Days; I Want To
"Lucy? Lucy, are you ok?"
Natsu gently shook Lucy who lied unconscious on the ground. After a few shakes, she woke up, her magic energy seeping into her body. She held her head and sat up, leaning against the couch.
"What happened? Did you break the statue?" She said, rubbing her eyes.
"Yeah, but you went unconscious for the rest of the night. There's only four more days until prom." Natsu said, handing her a glass of water. She took a sip, then stood up.
"Can't waste time like this. Come on, I need to try my mother's power now." Lucy said, channeling her magic. Natsu sighed, but went along. Lucy's magic continued to surround her in a glow, concentrating around her hands as she tried chanting.
A few hours passed and nothing has changed. Natsu's touched still burned. Natsu felt disappointed, but Lucy was distraught.
"I promised that I would help you, so why can't I do it? The celestials did this to you, so why can't I undo it?! Am I not a celestial?" Lucy ranted, doubting everything she knew.
"Lucy, it's fine. I've lived with this my whole life, so I don't mind it." Natsu said, trying to make her feel better.
"Yes you do. You do mind. You hate it and want to get rid of it. You said so yourself that you couldn't wait until the day that you can hug me without leaving behind a scar. So I intend to make that day come sooner, rather than later."
"Ok, but don't push yourself. If you don't make it by prom, then-"
"I have to make it by prom Natsu! I can't wait past then! Because there will never be another prom! This is our only chance!"
"Why though? Why are you so persistent on wanting to get rid of my burning touch by prom?!"
"How dense can a person be Natsu?! I want to dance with you, that's why!" Lucy blurted out, falling onto the couch and curling up. Her cries could be heard, and Natsu went up to sit with her. When he reached out, he was shocked by a barrier that Lucy had put around herself.
"Lucy... You're really going to block me out now?" Natsu said with a calmer voice. Lucy remained silent. Natsu sighed, thinking of walking away, until he decided not to. He looked at Lucy once more, seeing her arms wrapped around her knees and her head buried in them.
"You know what. It's my turn." Natsu said, sticking his hand through Lucy's barrier, getting shocked all the way until he could reach Lucy's shoulder.
"Natsu, stop! You're hurting yourself! Natsu!" Lucy shouted, seeing his hand get electrocuted the more he reached in. She dropped her barrier and grabbed his arm, looking at the damage. She got up and brought back some medicine and bandages.
"Why would you do that?!" She said, tending to the burns and bruises he got.
"Because I wanted to. You ignore me when I tell you to stop touching me. I'm afraid that one day, you'll hold on for too long and roast."
"I'm a celestial. Heat can't kill us because the sun is part of our element. I was safe from major damage. I would only feel the pain, but that barrier is a defense. That would've done permanent damage of you kept going." She said, tying the last bandage.
"But you would never let that happen. I know that." Natsu said, smiling at her. Lucy stared, trying to be mad at him, but failing.
"Fine you win. Now let me rest." She said. She got onto the floor next to Natsu and placed a blanket on his lap. She lied down and fell asleep quickly. Natsu carefully brushed her hair out of her face and caressed her head. He couldn't take his eyes off her for a single moment.
"I want to dance with you too."
