xxxv. The yellow suitcase

Season one, chapter thirty-five

"This king's ruled
long enough"

ALTHOUGH THEA wasn't sure if that suitcase contained what they were looking for, she was sure it wouldn't be a good thing. That group of scammers were up to no good, it would be a lot easier if Yung's spirits could allow them to use their powers to end all of this once and for all.

"Premium Oak Sauna in Siyeong-dong, Jungjin?" Mun read the address on the phone that remained in his hand

"What?"

"Oak Sauna?" Ms. Chu questioned with a frown, not understanding why Noh Chang-gyu would go there this late at night

"Why is he going there?" Mo-tak asked stepping on the car's accelerator

The night had caught up with them, the cold night that Thea had once come to hate as it reminded her of her family's death. Now it's just simply another memory that although it still caused her pain, it's no longer so painful to remember.

"This is the place" Ms. Chu noted when they had finally reached their destination

"What does he need to do here?" Mun questioned raising his eyebrows in confusion

Mo-tak parked the car a fair distance from the place, observing from a distance how the duo of men were dragging the yellow suitcase that the group of Counters were looking for so long.

"He might go the other way. Ms. Chu and Hana, go the other way and block the exit" Mo-tak explained without taking his eyes off the men outside the car "I'll take these lovebirds with me."

"Okay" Ms. Chu nodded her head preparing to get out of the car like the rest of the group

The couple and the elder determinedly approached where Chang-gyu and his pet had entered. Watching as he gave what appeared to be money to one of the men so that he could then leave without any problem. And surely that was enough for the man to remain silent for some time at least.

"Hey"

"Yes"

"Throw it in there"

"Okay"

"I guess they're going to burn it" Mun exclaimed in a low voice, appreciating the scene a few meters away from them

"They want to incinerate it" Mo-tak added with a frown

"Gosh! It's too hot" The man holding the suitcase complained

"What the hell? Just throw it in there!" Chang-gyu raised his voice in annoyance, simply wanting to get rid of the suitcase as soon as possible as his brother asked him to

Although before the man could throw the suitcase into the fire, Mun nimbly held him by his shirt while Mo-tak took the time to place his hands around both of their necks and so Thea quickly bent down to take the yellow suitcase from the floor preventing them from throwing it into the fire.

"Ga Mo-tak" Chang-gyu said with difficulty with his eyes wide open

"Do you want me to throw you guys in there too? Shall I throw you guys in there?" Mo-tak began to say annoyingly, bringing them closer to the fire

"No, don't!" Chang-gyu asked desperately as he felt the heat of the fire on the bald spot on his head

The group watched carefully as Mo-tak opened the yellow suitcase with plastic gloves on his hands so as not to leave any fingerprints that could serve as evidence to finally open it and find the remains of the person they were looking for so much.

Thea covered her mouth in horror, after all, those men had been really capable of killing an innocent girl.

"What? How could they shove a person into this..." Mun began to say with a frown, extending his hand, Mo-tak quickly stopping him from touching the corpse

"Don't touch It, or it'll become inadmissible" Mo-tak explained before closing the suitcase not wanting to see the corpse any longer

"Let's pray for her soul" Ms. Chu exclaimed, looking at both girls on both of her sides, everyone remained silent

Thea closed her eyes wishing that all those men would pay for everything they have done once and for all. People couldn't keep dying simply because they weren't satisfied or because they weren't following their orders.

"What should we do?"Mun asked after a few seconds of silence "I don't know how I feel about letting the police know"

"Mo-tak, you remember everything now. Any cop you can trust?" Ms. Chu asked with a hint of hope

"If there were even one colleague like that, Jeong-yeong would still be alive" Mo-tak responded looking down at the floor for a few seconds "And my former colleagues must've changed a lot by now"

"We have five billion won in cash right beside a young woman's skeletal remains" Ms. Chu said looking at the five blue suitcases behind them"Am I supposed to cry or laugh now?"

"Shin Myeong-hwi must have a political rival" Hana began to say with narrowed eyes

"Oh Yeong-deok?" Mo-tak asked as Hana nodded at his answer

"Yes, good idea! The police station in his constituency. He won't try to cover it up at least" Ms. Chu exclaimed

"In that precinct, there's a detective I know" Mo-tak commented raising the hopes of the Counters group

"Great. Tell him about the case you were investigating seven years ago" Ms. Chu encouraged him as he nodded with a serious face

"Stay still, will you?" Ms. Chu asked him desperately as she watched him walking back and forth anxiously

"He said he'd let me know as soon as the results are out" Mo-tak explained almost biting his nails

"He'll call" Mun assured, approaching the table where his teammates and his girlfriend remained

"I'm worried things might go wrong" Mo-tak suddenly admitted, filling the group with worry and doubts

"We did our best, Mo-tak" Hana explained, turning to look at him with a confident expression, if nothing turned out as expected at least they've tried to do something about it

"Yes. We nearly died several times" Ms. Chu added as Mun placed his hand on her back in a comforting manner

"I just feel bad. Even after death, they can't rest in peace. When I think about them..." Mo-tak started to say although his voice trailed off halfway when suddenly his phone started ringing

"Answer it" Ms. Chu said eagerly getting up from her chair

"Hello?" Mo-tak pressed the phone to his ear as everyone looked at him anxiously, waiting for answers "Yes. Okay"

"What did he say?" Hana was the first to ask when he hung up the call

"They did a DNA analysis on the remains" Mo-tak began to say with a serious face looking down at Ms. Chu on his side

"And what? Just tell us!" Ms. Chu exclaimed surely being the only one with little patience tolerance among the group

"The one on her clothes matches Noh Hang-gyu's" Mo-tak responded

"My gosh"

"The one found underneath her nails matches Mayor Shin's" Thea almost screamed with happiness when she heard those words come out of the mouth of the oldest who didn't seem happy enough at the news

"My gosh!"

"Yes!"

Hana slammed her hand against the table in victory before standing up from her seat. Thea hugged the first person who crossed her path, which ended up being her boyfriend, who did not hesitate to reciprocate the hug with a smile from ear to ear.

"My gosh, we did it" Ms. Chu began to clap her hands happily

"So Shin Myeong-hwi is now a murder suspect, right?" Mun asked still remaining in his girlfriend's arms

"Yes. After seven years" Mo-tak nodded in confirmation, taking Hana's hand when she offered it to him, thus giving him all her support

Among all the crowd of people who were outside the building where the mayor resided, at a fair distance was the group of Counters, with intentions that Shin Myeong-hwi and his people would finally realize that they had not died as they thought and that from now on they would do everything possible to destroy all the dreams they once had.

"Do you guys think he's seen us yet?" Thea asked, avoiding looking up

"It's impossible not to see us from above, I'm sure he already has" Ms. Chu nodded, squinting at the daylight

"And speaking of the devil," Mo-tak exclaimed, noticing how the entire crowd headed towards the entrance of the building the second Mayor Shin set foot outside the building

The aforementioned turned his gaze towards the group of Counters that he thought were dead, stopping his steps for a few seconds with pure hatred in his eyes.

"This is nothing but a ridiculous political trap" Shin Myeong-hwi began to say, turning his head forward with confidence at the people around him

"That bastard" Mo-tak said through his teeth

"Trust me"

"He hasn't learned his lesson yet" Thea nodded in agreement with the older man who seemed displeased by the speech the mayor was giving

"Please protect me. I'll clear up all the suspicions and return to my post. Thank you" As soon as he said that, Mun wasted no more time in running in the direction of the mayor with hatred and resentment in his eyes

"Mun" Thea tried to stop him but he was faster than her and managed to evade the people until he was stopped by one of the security people, who seconds later let him pass

The group of Counters went after the teenager who was now chatting with the supposed mayor. Although seconds later they made eye contact with the aforementioned when he moved his eyes towards the direction in which they were standing.
